I liked the ending of this season, it was original and faithful to the Classic Dragon Ball manga and anime. Now, since death is definitive, there are much darker and more serious things dealt with here.
First; death is definitive (up until now), that is, losing someone is losing that person forever. Second; Goku is in the possession of Doctor Gero, whether he will return him or use Goku as a laboratory guinea pig we don't know.
Third; at least we have Muitato to fight alongside the Z Warriors, although we don't know Gohan's final fate. The Z can be trained by their masters brought back to life for a year, using Kami-Sama's time chamber.
Fourth; sooner or later the Dragon Balls will have to be used, because what about Dragon Ball after all, will they be the balls from Namek or Planet Cereal?
