The lyrics were written by Ernest Hogan (a black man) btw.
He knew his culture well
Coulda been Ernest, coulda been Hogan, who knows, they all look alike to me
Excellent banjo work by Vess L Ossman

Lyrics:
First verse
Talk about a coon a having trouble, think I have enough of ma own, Its all about ma Lucy Janey Stubbles, and shee has caused my heart to mourn, Thar's another coon barber from Virginia, In soci'ty he's the leader of the day, And now ma honey gal is gwine to quit me, Yes shes gona nad drove this coon away, She'd no excuse, to turn me loose, I've been abused, I'm all confused, Cause these words she did say.
Chorus
All coons look a like to me, I've got another beau, you see, And he's just as good to me as you, nig! ever to be, He spends his money free, I know we cant agree, So I don't like you no how, All coons look alike to me, me.
Second verse
Never said a word to hurt her feelings, always bou't her presents by the score, And now my brain with sorrow am a reeling, Cause she won't accept them any more, If I treated her wrong she may have loved me, Like all the rets she's gone and let me down, If I'm lucky I'm a gwinw to catch my policy, And win my sweet thing way from town, For I'm worried, Yes, I'm desp'rate, I've been Jonahed, And I'll get dang'rous, If these words she says to me. (Chorus)

@@pinkchaos. There's actually a black man who sang this. Ernest Hogan
So I don’t like you no how..
This song is racist yes. But you have to put it in it's historical context. Of course we wouldn't write songs like that today. But we can't just erase history.
we should write more songs like this
Collab?
How is it history? They still look the same
Rap?
A black man originally wrote it
1:58 lo dijo....dijo Nword XD
es una coon song que era como un genero que se burlaba de los negros
From the hand of Benjamin Franklin in his work, "Observations Concerning the Increase of Mankind" (1755, p. 224):
"Which leads me to add one remark: That the number of purely white people in the world is proportionably very small . All Africa is black or tawny. Asia chiefly tawny. America (exclusive of the new comers) wholly so. And in Europe, the Spaniards, Italians, French, Russians and Swedes are generally of what we call a swarthy complexion; as are the Germans also, the Saxons only excepted, who with the English make the principal body of white people on the face of the earth."
☝️😂 Did you read that?!? "Tawny," by the way, means (essentially) brown or a brown variation. There's only one way to get that brown skin.
I was trying understand why people like Arthur would write stuff like this -- because the women have a preference and it's not Arthur. But, where did all of these whites come from after 1755? Franklin said that America was tawny "wholly so." Western Europe except for the English. The largest ethnicity in the US is German Americans. Where did the ancestors of these "White Germans" come from?
Great video. Great comments (America isn't racist at all). ✌️😉
Collins did not write this. A fellow named Hogan did. I will let you look up his ethnic background.
All those who are commenting here… do you understand the lyrics? This is a racist song.
... that's what makes it interesting.
No it’s not it’s just an artists expression
