I thought VLOOKUP was vertical therefore the more columns you have is when you apply it .WhIle HLOOKUP is horizontal thus being applied when you have more rows.
The opposite is true. When you have more columns than rows, use HLookup and when you have more rows than columns, use VLookup. VLookup is vertical yes and HLookup is horizontal but the interpretation is what is different. More columns than rows means the data is arranged Horizontally and more rows tahn columns means the data is arranged Vertically.

Hi Mr Chikasa, I have some questions about this section of this paper. 1) Why do we have to put an exclamation mark in the VLOOKUP formula? 2) Why do we have to put the absolute cell reference in the formula for cell A2 to B12? What would happen if I didn't put the referencing? By the way, thank you so much for uploading tutorials on practical papers, it helps me a lot. :)
1. You are accessing the filename/CSV file located in another sheet or workbook 2. Absolute referencing makings the cells you have selected to be the same even if you replicate the formula. If you dont use it, every time you replicate the formula, the cells adjust too. This is call relative referencing. Please check out my other videos and you will learn more

One question: if i don’t do the VLOOKUP using the string (i mean searching it in the formula list) it is necessary to specify the document location/name or it is automatically done by the computer? GOOD VIDEO!

im just telling evans when ur doing vlookup we may not need to write all of it...u can go to the other spreadsheet and select the table..everything comes...there might be a mistake typing everything
yes, there are many ways to do the Vlookup. I usually prefer doing the one for typing because it also acts as revision in theory exam for the student when they are asked about VLookup. The method for for selecting the table is also good but many students struggle with it in the theory exam when they do the Vlookup decoding so to say. Hey Evans today my ict paper 2 cie board exam is done actually in a report by mistake only half of my candidate name was visible and i realised after printing the report was of 14 marks so please can you tell me how many marks will be lost as there were 4 printouts of that report with half of candidate number now its really bothering me
@@talabashar9281 so I just did my paper 3 today. the currency will be put as a symbol , with the name of it beside it ($- US dollar) so you can search for that in cell format. No worries. Good luck

you could insert rows faster by simply clicking the number of rows on the side then clicking insert rows
