    We are #pruning and #repotting #cactus or is it a #succulent ? The African Milk Tree also known as the Cathederal Cactus is very easy to take care of, and fun to watch grow. This Succulent can live indoors or outdoors depending on your climate.

    Hi P&J! I just love, love, love this type of teaching video! Succulents and cacti are among my favorite plants because they are so hardy and strong. You don't have to watch them every second to see if they're dying. I love how you showed us step-by-step how to transplant them and take care of them. Glad to see you have your veggies started too.🥦🥬🥒🫑🌶 It looks like great fun to live on the homestead. Everything is so creative and beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing! 😊

    Hi Paula and Jason! I have my cactus in a sandy/pebble mixture. It was what my Grandmother planted it in and I inherited it from her. It's a different species than yours. Wow this is useful information. Is the part about the height of the main plant needing to be the tallest true for all cactus special? Wow you have so many cacti! Great job!

    • @PandJsHomesteadAdventure
      @PandJsHomesteadAdventure  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Jessie! So nice you have your grandmother's plant! Yes my opinion, I'm a big believer all trees and plants, have a leader, or main root system. Some cacti and succulents are so slow growing, it doesn't affect them. So maybe look up your cacti and go from there. Without seeing it I'd hate to say, "ya cut it!" Lol Hope that makes sense. Hope you have a great weekend! TY for stopping by!

      @@PandJsHomesteadAdventure you're welcome! Yes it's amazing to have her cactus. It was 6 inches when she had it. 14 years later it's probably over 18 inches now. It has one baby that has grown off near the top. Thank you for the advice, that definitely makes sense. You both have a great weekend too!

    Great video, but I would like to say something, there isn't a succulent family. The term succulent is a broad term referring to (mostly) desert plants that store water. The african milk tree is indeed a succulent but is in the family Euphorbiaceae. Another thing, some people think a cactus is also just a broad term for a plant that stores water that also has thorns, which is not true, the term cactus comes from the family name Cacticeae, thus a plant has to belong to the family to be considered a cactus.

    Nice video. Thank you :) Do you live in hot/humid climate? Here in the desert southwest, I find cacti don't like organic material, because of how dormant they get in the winter. My low is around 40F. My Euphorbias especially don't like to have any water at all in the winter.

    • @PandJsHomesteadAdventure
      @PandJsHomesteadAdventure  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! TY so much! We live in NY State, not a warm or humid climate like the desert. Summer months are very nice with some humidity. Correct, all organic material we give them in the spring and summer. We do water all in the winter months, here they bloom all year long. Our sunroom never gets below 50°F. TY for stopping by!

      @@tonyabrown39 Since you are bringing it inside, yes it's a perfect time.
