Thanks for sharing, even failures teach. Like #26. I don't think it is the glow plug because you are getting smoke. Was the screen you replaced the EXACT same? Maybe it isn't properly placed.
Mine does that when my deep cycle battery is low on charge. If i start my engine the extra amps make the glow plug hotter and it ignites! Thanks for the great vid.
My new unit started cavitating the fuel in the fuel pump. I could see tiny bubbles exiting the pump but not entering the pump. Ordered a new pump on Amazon and installed. Heater fires right up and cleaned itself right up. When it was funning lean, there was enough soot building up inside the unit that my outlet temps dropped to 110 from 210 fahrenheit. All good now.
I am a little late to the party here but The Campulance Man had a very similar issue with the smoke, etc. He eventually found out that his was an elevation problem. He had to manually change the furnace settings for whatever elevation he was at. Hope that helps.
Does your glow plug indicator showing? Check all plugs in. Volts is important how do you have it connected? To the batteries directly? If not, do so. What size of fuel lines are you using? 4mm to 6mm only and hard lines, no soft lines. I’ve have been using these heater for a long time and never had one go bad on me or my customers. Let me know maybe I can help you solve this. How do have fuel on the pressure side of the van fuel lines?
I know your comment is 2 yrs old but hope you see this. We have a problem and doing a diagnosis it is saying the glow plug or the controller. We took the unit out to have a good look at it and can't get to the glow plug. The heater was working fine but now I turn it on and I can hear the fan for a few minutes then it stops. Any suggestion would be a help.
@@MrGreedam What's up, and hello! Did prime the fuel lines again? What code if any coming up? If their no code right now it almost sounds like no fuel getting to it. What elevation are you at? Does your fuel tank have a breather hole? If not unscrew your filler cap for now until it starts.
@@MrGreedam There are two ways to get the glow plug out. First, do you have the right tool? If not you'll have to take the unit apart, but not the whole thing; motherboard, and the fan unit itself, four bolts, then you'll see the glow plug and can use a metric wrench.
Carbon buildup is a big problem even with the higher end brands. It basically requires pulling the whole thing apart to clean. Glad you’re doing well my friend. Let me know if you head my direction.
I have a Webasto gas heater, and if I don't run it for a while it keeps shutting down on me until it gets gas then it starts up and runs perfect. I didn't start it for almost three months during the summer ( I know you're supposed to start it at least once a month and let it run full blast for at 30 minutes to clean it out) but it stopped on me 6 times then it started running. I don't recall if there was smoke though.
I had a D1L eberspacher! It smoked all the time. It had no screen in the glow plug chamber. I’ve tried everything, and finally burned out the fourth dollar glow plug, so now it’s going in the garbage pile! I am getting a new Chinese one next week for the price of a couple of glow plugs. Hopefully I can give my lungs a break from the smoke
I had the same problem with mine very easy fix was pouring out white smoke and not firing all I did was disconnect the fuel line let it run till all the smoke goes away then took a syringe filled it with diesel and injected into the line so no air was in the line and it started running as supposed to hooked fuel line up right quick and has been running fine since then hope this works for you like it worked for me
It is flooded with diesel. I had the same issue and was getting an E-10 code. What happens is if it doesn't fire up the first time then there is unburned fuel in there then when you try it again the pump comes on putting more fuel in further flooding it. Here is the fix : remove the retainer clip from the fuel pump wiring connector but do not unplug it just yet or you will get a fuel pump error, now start it as usual once you hear the pump start pumping unplug it, let the heater run, listen, you will eventually hear it fire wait another 10 seconds to let it burn off the excess fuel then plug the fuel pump back in. Run the heater on high for at least 10 minutes to clear out the soot. It should run normally now. If not you will have to repeat the process.
That tool 🔧 is Only for replacement of the Aspirator Gauze, if that much dirty soot, check for clean inside especially the hole near the air intake to that Aspirator Gauze, the outside pipe might be packed up with soot on the outlet, water 💧 in the Exhaust, but sorry to say you need to take the unit apart, buy the new seals two you will need, If you have been burning 🔥 used engine oil 🛢 yes 👍 you will need to dismantle the unit for a good clean up.
The not starting up/white smoke is an indicator that there is soot build-up near the glowplug, I figured out that there is a tiny 3mm hole next to the glowplug that let air in to help combustion/Ignition at startup. I cleaned mine 2 times but overlooked this tiny hole, and suprise surprise it still didn't work and wouldn't start up, after the third time I discovered the tiny hole, unclogged it and it would start right up without any smoke or delay. It was not the glowplug nor the little gasification screen inside the unit where the glowplug sits, just the tiny hole. You have to open the unit up to see the hole.
when he pushed in th new atomizing screen it dosent go any far he need too go behind a certain hole who let the air come in ..so remove the glow plus again push the atomizing screen furter. an maybe he just need to open the unit and clean it cause it have too much arealy build insine if it was running on low all the time no cap
I bought a larger diesel heater with my second one, but now I leave it on the lowest setting and came across this problem. I knew the consequences but wasn't sure how certain the effects would be, sure enough just a couple moths of only running on the lowest setting clogged it up
Well that had to be frustrating. Your valiant effort has not yet paid off but hopefully it soon will. Here's to a toasty warm & safe home soon.nice to see you Seven!
1. bad glow plug. 2. back pressure issues due to wind (i heard that back pressure issues can be caused by having the exhaust pipe angled such that water builds up in the pipe causing problems). you can disconnect the exhaust pipe from the unit and if starts ok then it probably something blocking the exhaust. 3. bad fuel or blocked fuel line or failing fuel pump. 4 bad voltage (possible that you have a weak battery where it will show 12 volts under no load but crashes to like 9 or 10 when under load). charge battery or replace battery
if you cut the end of the special tool off I think it will work (I think that's why made that way), second thing try taking power away (letting it reset itself, it may clear the code)
On a diesel engine you test the glow plugs my measuring the resistance of the plug. Set your meter to ohms and measure across the two wires going to the glow plug. The service data should show the proper value, or you can measure a known good. I also really doubt that finger tight is what you are looking for either.
I'm sure it's fixed by now, but I installed a genuine webasco glow plug in my Chinese heater, and tuned it lean, havnt had a problem since, have spare hq bearings on hand for next tear down.
I had the same problem, it ended up to be the power supply 12v battery although the multimeter and charger said ok, it wasn't. They draw about 15amps on start up. Worth checking
Hello had the same problem. The smoke but mine shut down after 5 minutes and won't restart how ever many times you try it needs to rest all day and it will start next morning. I think it not enough electric power we will see
@@jrus2 True, but the fuel that may come will do something when it hit the glove plug, I thing it will create some smoke, so either fuel filter or glove plug, better keep some spares of both on hand.
In my bus i have a 30kw diesel heater when its start smoking. Its only sot on glass for fire checker.. Its get a lot sot so heater dont know if its started or not. Its smoks a alot when that happens
I have no experience with a heater like this. I would be sure nothing has obstructed the air intake from outside. And I suspect the entire inside of the burn chamber is clogged with soot build up. Uninstall it and take it completely apart and clean the inside. If that is smoke, the glow plug is working. But shouldn’t there be more volume of air blowing from the exhaust? Broken fan or air clog somehow.
. I found my exhaust smokeing because I had air building up in the line raise unit higher than the pump . fuel will have to pump up hill. Not level ..All uphill from pump onwards . And start it up on the lowest Hz 1.0 for 5 minutes untill fully going hot .. With a really good battery start truck and give it 14 volts.... Voltage might be good untill you load up a crap battery with the glow plug and it fails to start.
Add a product called Fuel Set to your tank , its claim to de coke engines definitely works , my heater never suffered sooting after 8 years of running at weekends , great stuff , also keeps moisture & diesel bug at bay
I've had a similar problem. It ignites and it starts to ignite and then it goes out. Then every now and then it works. I'm about to go and investigate. I'm going to investigate my fuel supply I'm going to investigate the little screen on the intake of the pump. I had a former heater and I would add compressed air into the intake and then it would ignite and heat then eventually decrease and eventually it would die. I replace the heater with a new heater but did not replace any other parts. Now it seems to be doing similar things. I'm also going to add fresh fuel. The fuel I had was from last year. I suspect it is a fuel issue just maybe a voltage issue. I'm going to check my whole fuel line to make sure it's all airtight. And also the intake part of the fuel in the tank. I have cleaned the screen and breathing orifice multiple times previously on the previous heater. This new heater has not work properly yet just randomly it works
7, That's not smoke, it's diesel fuel vapor. Your not getting ignition. For whatever reason the controller is telling you it does not have enough volts to spark the fuel with the fan & glow plug & controller all using power. Check the heater supply wiring. It may have corroded or is dislodged or.... !
we've done multiple voltage tests and voltage directly at the unit and with direct wires from bus bars are good. but believe you are correct it is not igniting for whatever reason and there is excess gunk in the area near the glow plug. maybe dirty fuel causing the screen to be plugged and gunk on the glow plug
I’ve had this problem, it turned out there was a tiny air leak in the rubber fuel pipe connector. I readjusted this and it worked fine for about 3 months then it started blowing cold air. I replaced the temp sensor and it works fine now. I’ve brought back up temp sensor, mother board and rubber fuel line Incase I have the problem again. Also replace all the fuel line with the one they give you as it’s prone to leaking and splitting. Hope this helps someone?
Mine was blowing cold air before shutting down.. got on my tits. I bought another for £100. Took the old one out. Put on a stand, connected and fired it up.. at the same time spraying Easy start into the air intake.. ooooww it loved it, fired up, blew a load of black shit out, then carried on for an hour, running very clean, great heat and no smoke. Job sorted. Tested again later, perfect running no faults. Think the glow plug must have been caked in sut.
David Paul no they are good little heater, most of problems are do to insulation of them. They are just anything else sometimes you just get a lemon, it happens. In his case this is a second one, he melted the mother broad in his firsts one.
Saw something about the fan not turning freely causing a higher current draw and dropping the voltage to about 10v. This would cause an error 6 code...
@@SevenWanderstheWorld Yes, a glow plug isn't the same as a spark plug, although both have a resistor built into it, but the resistor in glow plug is made to get a lot hotter I think, and may have partial failure or a full failure. Yours seems partial.

The controllers I've gotten with these Chinese copy diesel heaters and the controllers have been some perfect, some seem like only part of the program works! Such as the "shutdown" or purge cycle. I'm still very thankful someone made these at this price point, it has improved my comfort a lot! But you gotta expect to have to service them! LOL! Seven buddy glad to see you back. Been wondering with this virus thing. You have lots of info so I'm not gonna add to it. Glad you're on when you fix it please let us know. Rock on my friend.
Thanks for the great vid.
you need to ramp up the heater to high prior to shutting it down or it will carbon up badly
That does not actually work.
Have you tried easy start in the inlet cleans every thing in 1 hit
Let me know if you head my direction.
believe you are correct and cleaning is the solution
I had the same problem with mine very easy fix was pouring out white smoke and not firing all I did was disconnect the fuel line let it run till all the smoke goes away then took a syringe filled it with diesel and injected into the line so no air was in the line and it started running as supposed to hooked fuel line up right quick and has been running fine since then hope this works for you like it worked for me
I know nothing...
Hope you keep us informed
Be safe. Many blessings
04 oil pump error comes up once unplugged
@@charleswillard775 Don't unplug it until you hear it start to pump or you will get the pump error.
@@techhandy4668 yep that's what i did
That tool 🔧 is Only for replacement of the Aspirator Gauze, if that much dirty soot, check for clean inside especially the hole near the air intake to that Aspirator Gauze, the outside pipe might be packed up with soot on the outlet, water 💧 in the Exhaust, but sorry to say you need to take the unit apart, buy the new seals two you will need,
If you have been burning 🔥 used engine oil 🛢 yes 👍 you will need to dismantle the unit for a good clean up.
When you had it apart did you check the breathing orifice where the glow plug turns in.

Been thinking of getting one of these. Hope you a re successful getting this fixed. Would be good to know what went wrong.
when he pushed in th new atomizing screen it dosent go any far he need too go behind a certain hole who let the air come in ..so remove the glow plus again push the atomizing screen furter. an maybe he just need to open the unit and clean it cause it have too much arealy build insine if it was running on low all the time no cap
I bought a larger diesel heater with my second one, but now I leave it on the lowest setting and came across this problem. I knew the consequences but wasn't sure how certain the effects would be, sure enough just a couple moths of only running on the lowest setting clogged it up
yo - 7 . good show . thanks for trying and sharing with us .
Well that had to be frustrating. Your valiant effort has not yet paid off but hopefully it soon will. Here's to a toasty warm & safe home soon.nice to see you Seven!
I've been using my wave propane heater
Blow air into the muffler. Sometimes it just needs a bit more oxygen to get started. Don't know why, but that can cause it to fire up.
Hey Ray thank you so much for your comment I've been farting with this thing for hours and your comment Save the Day🤠👍
Hope you get everything sorted out.
It looks like the glow plug is bad.
I agree.
I agree, dirty or burned
1. bad glow plug.
2. back pressure issues due to wind (i heard that back pressure issues can be caused by having the exhaust pipe angled such that water builds up in the pipe causing problems).
you can disconnect the exhaust pipe from the unit and if starts ok then it probably something blocking the exhaust.
3. bad fuel or blocked fuel line or failing fuel pump.
Hi you will have to strip the heater and clean out the carbon. I have to do this once a month 😢
Best video yet,thank you .
Good video. Unfortunately everything doesn't work out like we want. I can't wait until the next video.
Running it on 1 is not a complete burn, so run it on 3 for 15 minutes every few hours!
Thank you for the video. Have a blessed day.
Is your heater a 2kw?
Whats going on Seven? are you ok? haven't seen any follow up on the diesel heater. fix it?
episode 587 has the fix...
Hello had the same problem. The smoke but mine shut down after 5 minutes and won't restart how ever many times you try it needs to rest all day and it will start next morning. I think it not enough electric power we will see
Does this unit contain a fuel filter? You may have a clogged up fuel filter.
Fuel filter will have no smoke, you are not getting enough fuel to ignite.
@@jrus2 True, but the fuel that may come will do something when it hit the glove plug, I thing it will create some smoke, so either fuel filter or glove plug, better keep some spares of both on hand.
Wonder if it would help in the future to run an inline fuel filter. Possibly a small second tank using K1 kerosene because it burns much cleaner.
have one which was installed as part of the heater... but agree dirty fuel is causing the excess gunk
In my bus i have a 30kw diesel heater when its start smoking. Its only sot on glass for fire checker.. Its get a lot sot so heater dont know if its started or not. Its smoks a alot when that happens
Where the mesh goes in the glowplug, you'll have a hole that needs to be clear. Sometimes it clogs up.
Ad a bit of starting fluid on the exhaust and that's it !
Great seeing you learning all the new skills and trouble shooting since you got the van. Good luck with the repairs. Enjoy all your videos .
So, we didn't hear any videos for a fix. Did you find the problem?
How many hours do you think you had on it?
I have no experience with a heater like this. I would be sure nothing has obstructed the air intake from outside. And I suspect the entire inside of the burn chamber is clogged with soot build up. Uninstall it and take it completely apart and clean the inside. If that is smoke, the glow plug is working. But shouldn’t there be more volume of air blowing from the exhaust? Broken fan or air clog somehow.
I would check and make sure the glow plug is functioning properly.
Same issue with mine still not resolved!!
Did the diesel heater get fixed?
My situation is exactly like yours! Did you get it fixed and if so what fixed it?
Seven - where are you? Haven't heard a thing in quite a while. Hope all is OK. I'll be here when you get back.
7,
That's not smoke, it's diesel fuel vapor.
Your not getting ignition. For whatever reason the controller
is telling you it does not have enough volts to spark the fuel with the
fan & glow plug & controller all using power.
That tool is for installing the new screen
If you have Facebook there is a group called Chinese Diesel vehicle air heaters - Troubleshooting & Parts sales.
I use kerosene and run every month on high for half an hour never had a problem runs super clean on kerosene
Is your heater just a Chinese cheap one?
@@mattsmith2051 no its a planar would not run a Chinese one in a boat.
When my heater on my truck did that it was because the blower in blast camber got stuck it will also throw a voltage code.
B4 I shut down my unit I turn it on high and run it for a few minutes to burn of anything and then start the shut down process
It's not getting fuel. The cap on the fuel tank has a plastic inner that creates a vacuum, take it off or make a hole in the cap.
my fuel is from the vehicle fuel tank
Mine keeps shutting off and smells strong.
haven't heard fr om you in a while. You ok?
Surprised you didn't buy a glow plug, faulty plug likely cause of excessive soot, and failure to heat the fuel enough to burn correctly
Probably need glow lug?
Buy a cheap Chinese heater and get what u paid for
David Paul no they are good little heater, most of problems are do to insulation of them. They are just anything else sometimes you just get a lemon, it happens. In his case this is a second one, he melted the mother broad in his firsts one.
had mine a full year put at least 80 gals of diesel thru it never any problems
👍👍👍
Saw something about the fan not turning freely causing a higher current draw and dropping the voltage to about 10v. This would cause an error 6 code...
I would guess your igniter is gone bad, needs replacing.
I'm thinking the same
@@SevenWanderstheWorld Yes, a glow plug isn't the same as a spark plug, although both have a resistor built into it, but the resistor in glow plug is made to get a lot hotter I think, and may have partial failure or a full failure. Yours seems partial.
It is not a tool for removing atomiser.
That's nearly 15 minutes of my like I cant get back ,what a waste of time!
It’s a glow plug mate
That red heater is a pain comen to fail the grey ones don't do that
Air in the fuel line gives out a lot of smoke tighten up all those rubber connectors from fuel tank to heater or try a bottle of kerosene on a separate line and run at full temp to burn out the rubbish
