If your struggling with your aircraft climbing or pitching forward all the time, create an 'elevator trim' simply put a small control surface on the tail plane (it may vary on type of plane) and link it to a throttle lever. The throttle lever will set the trimmer and with a little experimentation will leave the aircraft flying level
Matt beaudoin haha, i got mine working its probably because of the center of mass and lift that are different on each plane so i just kept changing numbers in the pid untill it worked well, i had it go upside down at some point aswell, so keep changing the numbers in the pid and youll get it working aswell
@@jacksonpilarski8710 invert it, if it nosedives then make P lower, the higher the P value, the more aggresive it is, the D value helps to smooth it out and stops rocking up and down. Here is a general tip: when changing your altitude dont change it by more than 100, if you do it will likely break. To prevent that i have another system for when it is going at over a 12 degree angle up or down that will use another pid to go to the inverse of what it is doing already and that makes it stay between 12 and -12 degrees. That is using a tilt sensor btw. Also you can have another tilt sensor facing to the side and use a pid for roll, that way it stays perfectly level, really good for when you are yawing because yawing makes you roll slightly. for roll i used P: 5 I: 0 D: 1
In the latest update of Stormworks it seems that when I use PIDs to create altitude hold. Everything seems fine until I see the plane stalling... It doesn't maintain a nice steady constant vertical speed. It always accelerates. Help?

a add might not work so well on its own; let's say PID gives -1 and you give +1 ... it gives 0. I'd put a threshold on your stick input; if it's non zero; you can disable the switchbox temporarily; when you release the stick the Autopilot reverts to controlling the plane
@@MrNJersey here's a timely reply, the read out says the pid keeps going into the negative no matter what input i give it so idk, guess i'll have to play around more and see what happens.

its called add some trim to it xD use a function block with x+0.01 or whatever to change it, when flying do alt+w or alt+s to add trim, it tells you the trim value so you put that in.
This entire channel has helped me allot with my crafts and thank you for your help.

how do i set it? wont work for me
Make sure you set the throttle values from - 1 to 1.
You can also hold the (ALT) key to manually set trim on any aircraft :)
Can you make an updated version of this tutorial for 1.0?
works nice to make my plane do loops all the time
Got mine to stop looping by lowering numbers P=.001 I=.000001 D=5 but now it flies upside down :-)

plz do a gyro tutorial because my plane keeps doing barrel rolls
My plane Is doing BOING BOING with the elevators and it's really annoying
Try inverting the roll
@@PizzaPowerXYZ you should increase the damping coefficient of your pid, it helps!

when I set altitude hold on my plane shoots up stalls, and does loopty loops into the ocean...
Have you tried inverting the output?
It worked for me.
same
Same issue, inverting output doesn't help.
Glad I'm not the only one having this issue.
So, my plane just goes on circles, is there something am doing wrong?
MrNJersey i realy appreciate that tutoial💘💘💘❤❤
How do you connect gyro?
Thank you for your videos!
Do we have to use a PID Controller? Why can't we just connect the On Value in the switchbox to the keypad?
So, I did everything right like the tutorial I know that my plane is not level at, for example, 8000 feet, could you help me?
Works really well with gyro added in (auto hover on)
you know you dont need a pid, you could do it with just a + gate but it is less smooth
using this for my boat
my plane just constantly goes up , not holding the altitude at all , i set it to 50 and it goes way above that , can somebody help me ?
now it does random things , not even up then down then up then down ... just pure randomness , and it never does the same
im fricking lost
fuck it, it dosn't work im out

How do I fix my plane from doing loops...
Nj, why did this break my who plane and make it roll when I never touched roll? You've been helpful but please help me fix!

Any reason this wouldn't work with control surfaces? Or is it just broken in 1.0?
i know it is the same fore me
Please do a laser tutorial I am having trouble making a laser sensor detect a laser beacon on the ground and make it show on a screen.
nice jersey!
works for going down
4:30 - that is called 'flutter' real planes can suffer from it if you go too fast :)
My plane keeps either diving or rise, will never level at set altitude. I followed the guide so any idea whats causing this?
Try inverting the signal maybe

i tried this but it would overshoot it every time because it doesnt slowy change it snaps

does this need a gyro?
