I miss my Mom and Dad so much. This movie brings back memories of growing up and watching this wonderful movie at the foot of their bed. Sweet memories of close times with my Parents, They're gone now but I still have their memory,
many condolences...I lost my mum to lung cancer last November and i used to remember her singing this song....Paint Your Wagon was on TV today and suddenly heard this beautiful song. Reminded me of my mum so much. She loved movies with songs in them. I love her so much and miss her greatly...
I never watched this movie but my grandfather used to sing this to me all the time, he passed away Xmas 2021 and this makes me feel so happy when I listen to it. Xx
This has been a favorite movie of mine since this film came out. It was a big part of my childhood. I was lucky enough to meet Clint more than once and the only thing I asked him about his long and distinguished career was about this film (he was amused and bought me a drink and called my friend). I knew he sang in this film but I had to confirm it because I have so many friends who doubted me. He's a great guy and I have the utmost respect for him. They are a nice family. I am a fan forever!!!
In 1971 I was working in Lae, New Guinea and Paint Your Wagon was playing at the local cinema one week. Our friends had the concession shop at the cinema and we dropped in one evening to say hello. Pam, who was running the shop that evening loved Paint Your Wagon and when she heard Clint Eastwood start singing this song she dropped everything and ran into the theatre to watch and listen, leaving my wife and me to run the shop for a few minutes - something we had never done before, but we picked it up very quickly! When Pam came back we gave her a hard time about abandoning us. Harve Presnall was the only trained singer in the cast, which showed, but everyone gave it everything they had and the result was a wonderful, rollicking show.
Clint and Lee Marvin were perfect for their roles. Hard drinking, worn and haggard, free spirit Ben Rumson, and handsome, young buck Pardner singing his heart out. And doing it well. And he did a nice job singing in his early 80s movie "Honkytonk Man" as well which he directed. Check it out. I'm sure it's on TH-cam.
My damn landlord has trees all around the properties, but cut down the one along my wall. I wanted to sing to it & decorate it. Do I sing to my fake plastic Christmas tree?
Marvelous movie at every level. I remember I was 15 years old with my first quadraphonic 8-track tape system. I heard that score with four speakers bouncing around my bedroom. I used to listen to it for hours and hours. I'd never heard anything like that before. It was borderline spiritual for me.
Ikr? All touchy-feely! 🤗 ;•) Doesn’t it just warm you up deep inside? You can feel it touch your soul! 🤭 My bad or what? I’m probably the worst human being for this sort of thing! 😆😈
back at the time this was made, actors/actresses were under contracts with studios to make so many movies, like a package deal of 3 or 5. it didn't matter if they had the skill set to fit the movie, if they were told to do the movie, that was it. that is the reason that lee marvin and clint eastwood were in this musical is because the studio cast them in it. i remember my father telling me this years ago specifically about this movie, although it happened in other genres also. he was a musical buff, so i grew up watching musicals all the time. "paint your wagon" was always one of my favorites even though it was lesser known. i love lee marvin singing "wanderin" star".
Definitely watch it today, in honor of Clint 's birthday. Is the full movie here? I haven't seen it, but I watched the good, the bad, & the ugly (rest in peace, Eli Wallach) every time it came on (I don't have the channels anymore)
This song brings back my days in India when I was 5, my brother 6 and my sister 7. My parents planned that out well. Back in the 70’s we saw all the great movies, this one included.
Maybe the singing wasn't A1, but it was the movie and the times in America that was great and so memorable. My Mother would sing this song at home. Very touching.
Brilliant !!! Reminds that I once had a girl that I loved very much but she was already spoken for. We`re still friends but she has never known how I felt. I felt just like Clint !
He was mayor of Santa Cruz for a pretty long time, he lived there and he ran for mayor and won. He would be on the news for things related to decisions he made in Santa Cruz. i had forgotten about that until listening to comments here.
This is one of my favorite movies because it combines the 2 ganres of movies that I grew up with. Cowboys and musicals. And it has my heart-throb Clint Eastwood in it.
Wandrin' Star will always be the best song from this musical, but this comes in second because it's Eastwood, and two, it's fucking great no matter what anybody else says
I once knew and loved a woman just like this and stared at her just as he does at the beginning. Memories are made of this. For someone miscast - nice voice Clint !
Where did Hollywood loose it in not making movies like this anymore? I'd rather watch Paint Your Wagon again than pretty much any of the new stuff offered.
On another thread, someone said they should remake this movie with Seth MacFarlane. Seth is known mostly for "Family Guy" but in all honesty, Seth MacFarlane can sing very well!!!
They want to corrupt people. They’re not your friend. They entrusted your fathers and mothers with pleasant movies. Guards were dropped and then things got worse and worse and you won’t have nice movies again…
Clint Eastwood is the American icon for ever. And this movie, I was 12 years old back then" will live in my heart until i pass away. God Bless America !
Amazing! I think his voice is monotone, it doesn't go high or low, even at the end of Gran Torino, you can hear him softly singing and playing the piano.
I talk to the trees But they don't listen to me I talk to the stars But they never hear me The breeze hasn't time To stop and hear what I say I talk to them all in vain But suddenly my words Reach someone else's ear At someone else's heart strings too I tell you my dreams And while you're listening to me I suddenly see them come true I can see us some April night Looking out across a rollin' farm Having supper in the candlelight Walking later, arm in arm Then I'll tell you how I pass the day Thinking mainly how the night would be Then I'll try to find the words to say All the things you mean to me I tell you my dreams And while you're listening to me I suddenly see them come true
Clint Eastwood is actually quite musical. Likes jazz, plays the piano, writes music. However, this is the only film in which he sings that I am aware of. I am old enough to remember the Smothers Brothers and that is a great thing.

I didn’t know he sang 😢🙏

They would have used pitch correction on him today, but yes his voice isn't too bad, just his pitch!

I sang this with my dad who passed last December.
So your saying he died in agony
Such a nice song. And a surprisingly nice voice from Eastwood.
You know he's plays piano really well. Jazz is his favourite from music
Well, "listening to a song by Clint Eastwood" is now off my bucket list.

Songs by non singers have their valuable place. They have a brave honestly to them. And when they connect they surprise.
This is what I like about Clint. He doesn't stick himself in a box and is willing to try something that doesn't fit his persona.
Ever seen Play Misty For Me? Eastwood had a lot of range and did a lot of interesting things.
fuzzywzhe Play Misty For Me is a great movie 🔪👍
A pleasant voice😊 And yes, so different from the usual tough guy persona.
Clint and Lee Marvin were perfect for their roles. Hard drinking, worn and haggard, free spirit Ben Rumson, and handsome, young buck Pardner singing his heart out. And doing it well. this was before he was famous
I never knew Clint eastwood could sing, thanks for the upload.
Came here by Lee Marvin's 'I was born under a wandering star'.
This is one of those movies where despite having non singers in singer roles, they pulled it off. Wonderful movie.
Lee Marvin's "Wandering Star" needs no other singer apart from him. Nobody would dare to do it.
Clint Eastwood can act, direct, AND sing! There is nothing this guy can't do! =)

If you call that singing
@@littleblackduck3134 agree. horrible singing.
Well, he can't detect fascism when it's right in front of his face. Or sing.

Clint Eastwood so much talent. Sing, act, direct he has it all. Thats why he is a master at what he does.
On top of that he makes my hormones go crazy.

A lot of the movies Clint Eastwood acts in or directs, he also has written the music for. He is a very talented man.

Amazing! I think his voice is monotone, it doesn't go high or low, even at the end of Gran Torino, you can hear him softly singing and playing the piano.
He held the pitch, but singing is more than that. Measuring its expression and emotion, Lee Marvin's Wand'rin Star is very much superior.
voice of an angel and aim of an demon... thats what clint is all about
I talk to the trees
But they don't listen to me
I talk to the stars
But they never hear me
The breeze hasn't time
To stop and hear what I say
I talk to them all in vain
But suddenly my words
Reach someone else's ear
At someone else's heart strings too
I tell you my dreams
And while you're listening to me
I suddenly see them come true
I can see us some April night
Looking out across a rollin' farm
Having supper in the candlelight
Walking later, arm in arm
Then I'll tell you how I pass the day
Thinking mainly how the night would be
Then I'll try to find the words to say
All the things you mean to me
I tell you my dreams
And while you're listening to me
I suddenly see them come true
