      Mattuk true. Their funding dried up for the most part after that. There was times before that that I watched tna instead of wwe. I loved the Christian, aj styles, Kurt angle stuff they did. Samoa joes earlier x division champion run. Motor city machine guns vs. beer money feud. Shit even main event mafia. So many good times that will sadly probably be forever forgotten

      Mattuk Bro wwe was not bad in 2008.. Y2J and hbk fued, Edge, Taker, Batista on Smackdown was great. Cm Punk was doing his SES gimmick, Cena came back at the Rumble. It was far from bad dude, but I understand the cool thing to do is rail on wwe.

    • @TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd
      @TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpaceGhost92 WWE around 2008 was good, but it wasn't the absolute best thing ever either. There was some good and bad within that timeframe. WWE ECW existed but was not that great due to being a watered down version along with already being doomed due to the December to Dismember PPV in 2006 which is highly considered the first worst PPV of any major US promotion for wrestling since Souled Out 97 (And that's not including the Heros of Wrestling event in 1999), UberBooking Cena would be coming eventually, WWE used talent of the original ECW and a couple TNA acquired talent that they misused to the point of burial example, "Knock Knock who's there? BRADEN WALKER!" The highest of points was that CM Punk was starting on his way to WWE elite status, the fans finally got to see Jeff Hardy grab the brass ring after soo many years, DX returned granted a tad watered down since Shawn found God and no Triple H reign of Terror. TNA wasn't even competition around the time but were on the upswing due some well needed exposure, WWE was just skirting by with minimal effort because of an empty market and no major promotion to fight for ratings. You can't deny that the WWE was at it's best when there was a company that could compete for ratings. We can all thank Hogan,Bischoff and Russo for ruining that whole situation.

    • @AlbertV90
      @AlbertV90 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only Hogan. Eric Bischoff as well. They screwed up everything. Creative, leadership, environment e.t.c. They did not know anything about running a pro wrestling company yet and ironically enough they're wrestling greats. NOTHING.

      They would have been better served to accomplish this "merger" two years ago back when GFW was a clean slate, and they were doing that promotion war angle. Instead, they do the name change now that GFW is just a lesser known laughingstock associated with Karatbar scams and TV tapings that never made it to TV. And of course, they keep the toxic Impact brand on the TV show just to make sure everyone knows it's the same awful show as ever.

      iMPACT!'s days as the default #2 option for pro wrestling are long gone. New Japan has a firm stranglehold on that spot, Ring of Honor is #3, and even Lucha Underground has multiple platforms of exposure. Dixie burned down so many bridges for Vince Russo, she had to sell the company. Because her dad smartened up to the financial black hole this thing was and yanked the fucking plug.
      This Global Nonstop iMPACT! Force Wrestling thing is a dead dog they keep trying to bring back to life. @TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean he's not exactly wrong. They're do alright but nothing to write home about. Hell, they're possibly going to book a 5'5" 128 lb girl to win the men's major championship and throw all the required concepts of logic and believability in pro wrestling out the window, now imagine what he's going to say if they pull the trigger on that plan.

    • @VillaFanFTW
      @VillaFanFTW 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd it is the one thing i dislike about Impact is Tessa. But my question is, is unless you make her champion now, what do you do with her now? I mean if she doesnt wanna leave Impact then can she really go back to fighting women and not winning every match? If she does leave, then what? Aew would be stupid enough to let her fight guys or Omega would have her lose to some crap Japanese wrestler and while she could have great matches in wwe and they love to hoard wrestlers, and wwe fans despite claiming to hate impact always know and love the wrestlers that make the switch, will they accept her fighting women again? Unless Impact dont go through with it which I hope they dont, what happens if she doesnt win the world title?

    • @TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd
      @TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VillaFanFTW Well honestly if she doesn't win the title, that actually saves creative and booking the headaches of trying to figure out what to do if she did win the title. I mean she does look like she could put up a fight with Callihan, but if someone was to tell me that she beat Moose, Cage or some other guy that could ragdoll her clean, I wouldn't believe them. Some of the younger fans don't realize that the 3 essential and key elements to pro wrestling that makes it work is logic, realism and believability. Without them it takes away from artform and exposes the business in the worst way possible. Chyna was believable because she had the size and look at 5'10" at 180 lbs and the bodybuilders physique to boot, so the guys she was in the ring with barely looked bigger than her or actually looked smalled than her. Plus they didn't book give her Superwoman booking so it was still believable when she did win, and in some of those cases it wasn't a clean finish. I get them wanting to try and break barriers and all but Tessa winning the mens title means they'll have to use booking protection for her in the long run which will eventually lead to people getting bored with her, exactly like people being sick of Rollins being the Universal Champion for awhile now.

    • @VillaFanFTW
      @VillaFanFTW 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd I completely agree about that headache but they do face the headache of if she loses what do they do with her then? Fight women? That would largely mean if she loses to other women than any woman who beats her can start fighting guys because she has.

    • @TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd
      @TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VillaFanFTW What you just said is exactly why pro wrestling is in the condition it's in right now. Intergender matches require very careful booking and planning and should never break the realm of possibility. So the only way to actually protect Tessa in the event they book Sami to retain is by her losing via a dirty finish, whether interference or otherwise, that way she can wrestle women but yet doesn't cause confusion when she loses to women. On the other hand if she was to be booked to beat Sami clean, honestly it would be somewhat within the realm of possibility. However with guys like Moose,Cage and plenty of the other guys that tower as well as outsizing her, she can't beat them clean and doing so creates the issue you mentioned and the end result being alot of confusion and fans lose interest. This storyline feels like something exactly from the Russo solo booking playbook, overly complicated for no reason and makes no sense from start to finish.

    Dixie is the one to blame. Jeff let her in, but they actually moved forward a little after that happened. Dixie then managed to not correct the company's obvious problems in marketing to and building a fanbase, overspent massively for no real gains in ratings or money coming in, and then she got the company thrown off Spike by being a fucking idiot and hiring Russo back. It's easy to blame Russo, but she's the one who brought the douchebag back in secret.
    She really sent them on this downward slide. Jarrett might halt that slide a little, but eventually it'll start slipping again (already happening really, with ratings doing the old yo yo shit that it's been doing for years...just on a smaller scale.

    Impact Wrestling is still irrelevant in 2019.The 3 most talked about wrestling companies in the world are,WWE, AEW &New Japan.After that it can be MLW, NWA, Impact or Ring of Honor.You can also add CMLL & Lucha Libre AAA to the discussion.

    If you check out the current global force website they list a roster that is 100% no correct. If you took a shit in the locker room you got listed on the roster pretty much.

    I was damned near watching TNA in the hospice and praying for it to die. Then, I realized I was getting bitter, and that any alternative company that can hire folks is better than none. I got caught up, independent of how much I disliked their offering.
    Then, Slammiversary tore it up this past week. If they can keep that up, there could be real room for them to gain back some health.
    Not to diminish Corny's opinion or anyone else's. Any competent competition is good right now.

      Dixie's gone. That was 95% of TNA's problems right there. She knew jack shit about wrestling and she was learning as she went. That's cool and all, for a 100-seat indy show promoter... That's not cool for somebody trying to be the _direct_ alternative for the biggest promotion (market-wise) in the world!!! That's like picking me to do it and I've never run anything near that goddamn large for an "indy"...

      WWE's biggest PPV buy is 1.3 million. GFW/Impact/TNA, at their biggest, sold maybe- at most- 80,000 PPV buys. How the fuck have they ever been "competent competition"?
      No one will ever take them seriously again. They've been fucking it in the face for fifteen years.

    I watched the show after slammiversary and I agree they continue to be on the rise.and they are improving on social media & coordinating with other successful wrestling companies.featuring each others wrestlers getting more visibility.and when a champion visits others countries and other territories they're more recognizable and a more legit champion.

    One of my favorite Dixie stories is how she killed their destination America deal. She blew up the relationship because she was mad they weren’t publishing the DVR numbers as part of the shows viewership. Which is hilarious because the viewing audience is important for advertisers. DVR doesn’t attract an advertiser. So she tanked a TV deal over a metric that isn’t reported by anybody and wouldn’t do anything to increase revenue for the show. The DVR reporting was fully an ego move to have a bigger viewing audience be reported - indicative of all she did to harm the company.

What is Global Farce Wrestling known for besides failing to get off the ground and turning into a gold scam? lol

    TNA was shit even when Jarrett was running it to begin with. Every week Jarrett would put himself over & bury any other contenders (King of the Mountain Match anyone?!?)It had a really hot tag team division though, becaust that was the only way to get over whithout JJ leeching your heat.

    Seeing a few comments saying Slammiversary was "good". But with wrestling evolving with the ROHs, New Japans, Lucha Undergrounds, even WWE with NXT and their tournament specials - it seems TNA/Impact blew their opportunity at being the alternative by not standing out in the past 10 years.
    All these other promotions garnered positive buzz with "Man, ROH tore the house down with that show they did in Toronto", or "Did you see that match New Japan had between Nakamura and AJ Styles? How could TNA let AJ slip through their fingers"? While all ya hear from TNA is poor attendance, not paying talent, losing TV deals, knock-off WWE characters, and almost going out of business.
