    I am new to painting and have been following your channel for a couple of weeks. I love your fluid style of painting! I am hoping to do a similar style of painting but am still learning techniques. Will explore your videos to learn more, especially about how to mix acrylic paints with water or other mediums to get the effects you have shown here. Thank you!

    I love dramatic skies! But the metaphor of what a dark sky represents these days has not escaped me. Lately I've been thinking a lot about this and how I can respond to the feelings I have inside. There are so many unknowns and I just keep wondering if those clouds moving towards or away from us?
    In the painting video this week I want to show you how to paint a super loose landscape with a dramatic sky. If you want to paint a loosely painted painting you also have to start loose. I feel this is one of the most important factors in a loose painting style.
    Most importantly I want to teach you how to let go of tight control and instead learn to let the paint flow and mingle. Use brushes, rags and paper towel to manipulate the paint. Be as bold as you can and remember it's only paint and we can always add more paint and change things we don't like.
    I hope this lesson will bring you new ideas to loosen up your painting style and I hope you and your family are safe 🌻🌻

    Thanks for sharing another interesting and informative video. I picked something up here and it is seeing you mixing the paint. You don’t normally show this in your videos, but I can tell you that I had no idea how much water you were adding to your paint. Now I have a better understanding. You should show your mixing process more often if possible. Well you know I’m still learning Marie Louise. Keep teaching and I’ll keep learning. Tak!

      Thanks for your feedback Ed. This was a very experimental painting I'd say because usually I never add this much water to my paints. But it was fun to try and also somewhat outside my comfort zone :-)

    I painted many years ago with oil paint and oil paint you can impose your will.
    Now I am inspired by you and others to pick up the thread again and learn to paint more loosely and I find that quite scary.
    For example, I used to think long and hard to start on that blank white canvas, afraid I'd waste that expensive paint :)

    By adding that much water to the paint on the initial wash, is there any concern re the paint failing to bind, that could cause flaking in future? Or is that of no concern due to wiping it down as you did before applying more paint? I had seen a video re the use of acrylic paints, warning us not to add too much water as the binding could fail in future with paint subject to flaking. So I often feel restricted to ensure my balance of paint to water is correct, with more paint than water in the mix. I also add a glazing medium based on that video's cautionary tale. Maybe the info I saw on that isn't entirely accurate, and needn't be a concern? Your work is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your process with us! ❤

    Hi! Very nice video as always Marie :) its always fun to watch you paint...especially when you're painting a stormy sky, my favorite!! Also to see you take a beat and decide when to stop.
    I love the ways layers look on canvas, paper too, but when many many layers build up and you can see through some of them and see all the different marks scratches, brush marks...once done and dry it always amazes me with the texture that comes through..it almost give this textured leather kind of look to the canvas, depending on the colors of course...but I just love the texture. I adore watercolor, but I was trying to explain why I need both mediums in my life (as well as drawing of course) and the main thing I could explain was the texture...how it feels, moves and layers and the texture you can get. And I love watercolors for its making me let go and work with the chaos and the blending and softness and ease of clean up for sure.
    But I absolutely need acrylics in my life....in my dreams I see me in a studio with plenty of room to give me the freedom to throw it or fling it or just drip as I always do, but always acrylics, because I absolutely love the texture :)
    And I love the close ups, and I'm sure in person, how you can see the marks made from the layers with the brush and paper towels!
    Always fun to see what you're working on!
    I hope you are doing well!!!🥰

    Hi. I love your work. Question for you. When you say flow paint do you just mean watered down acrylic or should I add a medium for this effect? Thank you in advance x

    Love watching you paint. Can I ask once you put that yellow colour down did you let it all dry before you went in with your greys?

    • @TheDanishPainter
      @TheDanishPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it went down before the grey as I recall and maybe it wasn't fully dry. Sometimes I like to mix the colors directly on the canvas :)

    Watching a video at 3am last night, you've inspired me to start with acrylics and I've already ordered the paint & gesso! Do you have a list of brushes a beginner might start with? Also you say you paint on a 200gsm sketchbook - is there any particular reason you don't use a 300gsm mixed media book?

    • @TheDanishPainter
      @TheDanishPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could just as easily use 300gsm mixed media paper. I use both 200 and 300 but I would suggest to use what ever you already have and find your own favorite type. There are no right or wrong here, just personal preference. But definitely use a layer of gesso or two if the paper is light weight.
      For brushes I would suggest to use cheap ones. Acrylic is hard on brushes and they do get worn and ruined by acrylic over time. I use a mit of cheap hog brushes and I buy larger ones from the hardwarestore (house painting brushes). Hope that helps and I wish you all the best on your painting journey. Thanks for watching and cheers from Denmark
