  • Thank you for worshipping God with Trinity Lutheran today! Blessings to you and your family. Special welcome to visitors and guests. It is good to worship together.
Today is the 6th Sunday in Pentecost. The Pentecost season of the church is the longest season, beginning the Monday after Pentecost Sunday and continuing through the spring, summer, and into the fall. The season can last up to 28 Sundays and celebrates discipleship and Christian growth. The liturgical color is green.
A few notes on the service today-
A woman finds healing by touching Jesus’ cloak, and a girl is restored to life when he takes her by the hand. In both cases a boundary is crossed: in Jesus’ time the hemorrhaging woman was considered ritually unclean, polluting others by her touch, and anyone who touched a corpse also became unclean. In Mark’s gospel Jesus breaks down barriers, from his first meal at a tax collector’s house to his last breath on the cross as the temple curtain is torn in two. We dare to touch Jesus in our “uncleanness” and to live as a community that defines no one as an outsider.
Deacon Jennifer Schneider is our guest preacher again today. She is a Luther Seminary graduate and is rostered in the St. Paul Area Synod. Recently, she returned to Luther Seminary for a second Master of Arts in Lutheran Studies, with the end goal of ordination to pastoral ministry (Word and Sacrament). Deacon Schneider is married and has two children. She enjoys spending time with her family working on home repair projects (with power tools!), biking, gardening, canning salsa, baking, and sewing. Deacon Jennifer volunteers variously in her community and in the parish her family attends.
