I'm retired now, but I was an RN who worked in critical care. The days when I took the time to pray before work always went smoother. It was not any less chaotic, but I felt the Holy Spirit guide me with skill and peace.
I've found peace in God. I'm alive today because of the peace He has granted me. During the hardest time, I had a vision of Jesus's two hands and feet. I grabbed his hands and hold on to his two feet. I still hold on to his two hands and feet. Been doing it for almost two years now. No, I am not a Christian by birth. But God found me in the midst of the storm and saved me. Thank you Father. Glory to God
*Larry Burkett's book on "Giving and Tithing" drew me closer to God and helped my spirituality. 2020 was a year I literally lived it. I cashed in my life savings and gave it all away. It is the digital market. That's been the secret to this wealth transfer. A lot of folks in the US and abroad are getting so much from it, God has been good to my household Thank you Jesus
Bishop Barron, I want you to know that you influenced my decision to become consecrated into the Catholic Faith. I was an Episcopalean, but at age 75 I have converted to Catholicism, and am a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Texas, in the Diocese of Tyler, Texas. Thank you for bringing me closer to Christ.
Am a Catholic priest from Kenya and I have never had such interpretation of this text the way you have put. You have done more than I expected. Asante sana (thank you very much). God bless.
In my late teens and early twenties, I let Christ fall asleep in me. After the physical toll my body took because of the malevolence that came my way due to my ignorance, I found myself one day in a panic in the middle of Starbucks. I was in line, feeling my anxiety rise, not being able to be in a crowded place in my own skin, and be patient for my turn, & I started to say the 'Our Father' to myself silently. It instantaneously calmed me down. ❤ It was refreshing to feel a sense of familiar peace inside me. Today, I pray before bed most evenings, as my mind wants to ruminate, I stop it by the calm, repetitive prayer & fall peacefully asleep. 🙏🌙
You may want to cut back on the caffeine if you struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. Just from my own experience. Prayer is paramount in our relationship with God, but sometimes we add to our difficulties to cope simply by not paying attention to what we consume. The simplest things can make a difference. Peace Brother😇
I just started going back to church 3 years ago and I'm just starting to feel the spirit within me.. I go to daily Mass and pray every morning during my walk.. I feel peacefulness come over me as I pray.. I know he's listening.. I see the prayers he answers in my life and know they are are blessings and miracles.. I make my own rosaries and give them away for free and donate some to the church.. I am just now at 55 starting to feel a purpose in life..
When St Thérèse de Lisieux was dying, suffering, she said her boat was in the midst of a great storm. But Christ was sleeping so peacefully, she didn't want to wake him up. She just loved him so much. We must be willing to descend all the way with him, and then we will rise with him again.
We are living with ALS. We go to daily Mass. We say 4 Rosaries a day. We have been saying St. Bridget’s 12 year prayer since 2016. We live in the stormy waters everyday. We know death is coming. We get overwhelmed with each change in his condition and petrified knowing the steps that will lead to his death. We find that place of peace at Adoration and during Eucharist. We know that eventually we will be in a place more beautiful than anything we can imagine.
I can’t imagine a more perfect response to such a storm. Surely God will reward your faithfulness. “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him”
Bishop Barron, you are a modern-day saint. Your guidance, Scriptural interpretations, prayers, and so much more are bringing souls to the Lord. May God bless you every day. We're immensely fortunate to learn from you. 🙏❤️
I was dealing with a family tragedy and couldn’t continue praying the rosary, then Mary put her hand on mine and my pain lessened so that I could continue with the prayer. I am amazed how we are given the grace to go on.
I worked as a teacher assistant in n an elementary school for 22 years. There were situations where I couldn’t do it if not were for the power of the prayers that I had before, during and after I left the school. The environment became toxic for my spiritual wellbeing. During the pandemic I started singing two or three hymns before leaving my house and in the parking lot before entering the building. I retired two years ago. God is faithful 🙏
Good morning dear Bishop, from Buenos Aires, again and again I have no words to express the comfort, enlightenment, and invigorating faith and hope I get every week from your Holy Spirit inspired sermons. Plus, an ever increasing appreciation for our Church. Said by a cradle Catholic, grown up in ecumenism, and graduate from a wonderful course we have here on interfaith dialogue and practice. I keep rediscovering the loving living God in Jesus and in the wonderful wisdom and care of our Catholic Church. I praise God for shepherds like Bishop Barron. What a wonderful work of God for us all! Thank you.
I have found peace by going to Adoration before starting work each day. While I pray the rosary I ask the Holy Spirit to put his priorities on my heart. Thank you Jesus for spending time with me.
no one could deliver a message like this unless they were personally connected to the Father, His son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Thank you Bishop Barron, for your faithfulness and devotion to our Lord.
This is the first time I’ve heard these interpretations and I LOVE them. I owe so much of my spiritual growth to Bishop Barron, and this is another example of how he enriches our spiritual experience. Yes, prayer doesn’t make the bad things go away…it gives us the strength and fortitude to press on in spite of them. I’m a cradle Catholic, my faith and practice having ebbed and flowed over these 70 years. But Bishop Barron has enriched and enlightened me beyond anything I could have imagined. Thank you and may God keep you in his loving care.🩷
I truly appreciate all three interpretations. The second makes so much sense to me especially as I watch young people who have left the church struggling with so much anxiety and depression. I pray that they do “wake up their communications with the Lord” and begin to realize Christ’s love does heal and comfort.
I am a HS teacher and I too found Peace in the storm of Life and work through Prayer. Daily battles with dysfunctional and aggressive Teenagers were transformed into more peaceful experiences through prayer. It was 25 yrs ago I went back to saying morning prayer and twenty that I began saying the Holy Rosary reaching out to Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, in Daily prayer always made the Trials and Tribulations of daily life dissipate Peacefully.
wow, as an EX-FUNDAMENTALIST I would recommend this teaching to others like me, who got caught up in literalism. This kind of exegesis, bassed on teachings of the early church fathers is so deep and beautiful , with three different interpretations, equally profound and enlightening! Thank you Bishop Barron!
That's great ! Go all the way and become Catholic. And go on Protestant /non Catholic Christian websites, channels to enlighten them, in their Comment Section. I've been doing that but have slowed down- you will discover why. I've never been 'Protestant' BTW and pardon me, but I just cannot bear to hear them expound. Explore Catholicism - there's always something new to discover and learn !
Bishop Barron, all I can say is thank you and keep doing what you are doing. You are a saint, on a par with Bishop Fulton Sheen. God bless you, from a fellow Chicagoan and Loyola Academy grad.We Catholics are so grateful to have you.
I remember when recently here in taiwan was a strong earthquake and in our dormitory were so many of my co-OFW workers. I am in the 6th floor of the building and the shaking was really terrifying. Then everyone was afraid and panicking while I stood still beside the wall and prayed. And suddenly it stopped. I mean what a great experience to feel the peace of the Lord in such a storm. Praise God I was part of that. Thanks to him for having known Bishop Barron to help me in my journey to our Lord! Praying for you always Bishop Barron. I love you! God bless you always!
I am dealing with the death of my wonderful husband, chaos, and my own anxiousness, dealing with the loss and what to do, next, I asked God. for help,he answered me, your homily, message……printed material about the readings this week…are in my favor to stay calm, let go, know that my love rests in the arms of God, and all will be well in time….. “ Be still, and know that I am God” Thank you Bishop Barron.
Carol , I’m here .My amazing husband left for heaven six years ago , it is very much an annihilation. Stay close to Christ , lean into Him …. I know , I’m here if you want to respond . You will be in my prayers . I truly know , trust me .
I lost two spouses and did I ever struggle. Satan got a hold of me in the midst of my suffering. Stay close to Christ. He once told me, "Don't let the circumstances of this life overwhelm you but solely be overwhelmed by My love for you."
The preaching of the good bishop gains richness and beauty with each passing year. Although we follow Jesus, we sometimes need an earthly shepherd to lead the way.
Please include in your prayers today our small country, the Philippines, as we faced several storms now, such a Chinese pirates and Axe gangs, legalization of Divorce, rise of Freemasonry, LGBTQ+ strong movement, and growing number of Nominal Catholics.
A rich sermon, as always. What a gift it is to be able to listen to this many times and take in its depths. Late last night, I realized that Bishop Barron is giving us the four traditional senses of Scripture. That’s how great he is - this is so much a part of his DNA that it’s seamless. I feel myself truly blessed to live in his time.
A priest told me that my “fallen-away” son is asleep! Now, I understand a new way of seeing this. Sadly, his “peace” is alcohol. I ask Our Lord Jesus to wake him up!
Thank you. I woke up today (Monday) feeling anxious and concerned about the future, money, kids, husband, other family. This was just what I needed. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Thank you, dear bishop Barron ❤🙏🏻 your videos are always so deep and help me turn my view back to God! It’s such a blessing to be able to watch your videos from the different part of the world! God bless you too ❤
After going to church this morning, it's easy to remember the gospel. However, your interpretation is simply amazing. It makes 100% sense, that we in our own lives need to keep Jesus awake in our hearts, minds, and soul. Faith over Fear was the Homily today. Your homily added so much more wisdom and clarity. Thank you for helping me and I'm sure many others to fully understand through your insight and beautiful words.
One of the things I love most about the Sacred Scriptures is the many levels of meaning of the same passage. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can continue to find new ways that God is speaking to us in our particular circumstances through His living Word.
Much appreciated Bishop Barron. As always, His Excellence thoroughly and eloquently elaborates these rich texts where Our Lord reveals an aspect of His Divinity and of His Humanity. As well, it teaches us something about ourselves, where we are in our lives and to what we are being called. We are always blessed by the grace of God when a new understanding is revealed, that truth which is ever new and yet remains constant.
This is so interesting! I just returned from a pilgrimage, during which I was looking both to focus and deepen my prayer life, hoping to learn to talk WITH God rather than just TO Him. Also to see how the saints could have a more vital role in helping me on the ongoing journey of life, and how to know God more intimately. Already I sense a greater awareness of God’s presence, whether I am alone or with others, and an expanding sense of my conversation with God being an ongoing and spontaneous part of my day. I don’t think Christ was asleep in my boat before, but He certainly expected me to initiate the next conversation. I am so glad I did!
Lord please calm the storm in me. Lord increase my faith, I know you in the boat with me, my little faith makes me feel panic and worry unnecessarily Lord calm the storm inside me
Do you want the good news first or the bad news. Here is the bad news worrying is a sin. The good news is Jesus died to take away your sins as far as East is from West. Fear not; don't let your heart be troubled. Jesus truly love you but you have to trust Him.
Try some of the things Bishop Barron talked about in his homily: attend Mass at least weekly; receive the sacraments (Reconciliation, Eucharist, maybe Anointing would help you); pray daily, including the rosary; read good spiritual books, especially the scriptures - and related to that, I suggest signing up for Bishop Barron's daily email reflection on the day's readings. God bless you. 🙏🏼
Three wonderful interpretations of a familiar biblical event. Three ways of knowing that God is with us through the storms of life, till we get to the other side!
Thank you, Bishop Barron. You are so right - when we don't nourish our spiritual life, everything is harder and filled with more anxiety. At least that's my experience. I am going through some health issues at the moment, and it's not easy, but praying, contemplating and actively making the decision day and night to surrender and trust God is absolutely key to managing my anxiety around it. I was raised Anglican but am deeply drawn, increasingly so, to Catholicism. I have recently learnt to pray the rosary and I absolutely love it. It calms me down and connects me in such a meaningful way to God. I often find myself saying a Hail Mary or another short prayer during the day when I am at work, teaching, or on a break. It helps. Thank you for your guidance.
Good morning Bishop Barron, I am so grateful that I could hear your sermon in today's 12th Sunday. Yes peace is indeed a great deal to be in a stormy world of ours. I pray for your continued support to us on your postings here. May God bless you too.
I lost my home, cars and belongings to that storm nothing insured for hurricanes. God gave me a lesson a couple months before the storm. He showed me my possessions were possessing me I had to let them go as Job said, "The Lord giveth and taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord." After that my possessions didn't possess me anymore because I valued them as blessings. I didn't flinch because of my new gift of greater faith. Sadly my only son and unarmed was killed due to police brutality six months later. I went to adoration and asked Jesus why, and He told me, "Don't let the circumstances of this life overwhelm you but solely be overwhelmed by My love for you." A little over a week ago my mom passed.
His homilies always hit home and prepare me for the weekly mass I am about to attend. He also helps me handle the challenges of the week ahead. Thanks Bishop Barron. May God Bless you and the WOF ministry.
Enduring the the storms of life.. our boat our crosses... Quiet, Be Still...have faith in Jesus...then a great calm ...path to heaven.. God bless Word on Fire cast crew viewers and listeners.. Mabuhay
As ALWAYS Bishop Barron OPENS my eyes to new interpretations especially #2 and #3! I know we must WAKE UP to The Holy Spirit that has come to live in us! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
God bless you Bishop Barron. I love all your interpretations. Christ gave all of us the spirit of peace, I understand we’re all human, weak and doubting at times but we need to pray . Pray unceasingly to connect to Jesus to keep our faith and trust awake at all times especially during storms.
What a powerful sermon. May all 3 of your interpretations find a place in my life & in many other lives of your listeners. Thank you, Bishop Barron, for your devotion & spiritual leadership.
God bless you Bishop Barron! As usually the Holy Spirit that lives in you, through your words has spoken to us. It is an gigantic Grace to all of us, sinners and depressed ones.. Thanks a lot. In my , here in Brazil, we all pray for you everyday. 🙏🙏🙏
If I were in the boat that evening, I would have gone and slept next to Jesus. That is mad, you might say. You are right. When you are madly in love, your do "mad" things!
Beautiful homily. I would even say that Jesus being peacefully asleep in the boat is resting in confidence that HE's got this and that WE can meet Him THERE, and have that same kind of peace within the storm if only we allow ourselves that luxury.
Thank you, Bishop Barron, for sharing with us the gifts the Lord has given to you. I learned a lot from you that allows me to meditate and have a deeper relationship with Our Lord.
I'm retired now, but I was an RN who worked in critical care. The days when I took the time to pray before work always went smoother. It was not any less chaotic, but I felt the Holy Spirit guide me with skill and peace.
Thank you for the care and love you brought to work every day
same here… if i dont pray… the emergency room is chaotic
I have the same experience as a teacher.
Amen brother.
Thank you for your service!
If you’re reading this, please pray for my respiratory health - I am suffering frequently now.

May GOD ,OUR GREAT PHYSICIAN, heal your lungs ! I'll be praying for you 🙏 ❤️
Lord, grant healing. Lord, grant serenity. 🙏
May God forgive us and heal you. May God Bless you and your family! Amen!
May Jesus the Healer be your hope. My prayers for you .
I've found peace in God. I'm alive today because of the peace He has granted me. During the hardest time, I had a vision of Jesus's two hands and feet. There's wonder working power in following Kingdom principles on giving and tithing. Hallelujah!
But then, how do you get all that in that period of time? What is it you do please, mind sharing?
It is the digital market. That's been the secret to this wealth transfer. A lot of folks in the US and abroad are getting so much from it, God has been good to my household Thank you Jesus
Big thanks to Ms. Chisty Fiore❤️✨💯May God bless Christy Fiore services, she have changed thousands of lives globally
How can I start this digital market, any guidelines and how can I reach out to her?
Bishop Barron, I want you to know that you influenced my decision to become consecrated into the Catholic Faith. I was an Episcopalean, but at age 75 I have converted to Catholicism, and am a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Texas, in the Diocese of Tyler, Texas. Thank you for bringing me closer to Christ.

I don’t think Christ was asleep in my boat before, but He certainly expected me to initiate the next conversation. I am so glad I did!
@@dakovach Our Lord is relentlessly pursuing us.
Lord please calm the storm in me.
Lord increase my faith, I know you in the boat with me, my little faith makes me feel panic and worry unnecessarily
Lord calm the storm inside me
Just open your heart and surrender everything to Him and pray intensely. He is always there waiting for our invitation.
Come Lord Jesus calm the storms of my life. Amen
Great interpretations of Jesus calming the storm, and yes, I do believe that we find peace when we allow Jesus into our lives!
Yes. Well delivered! First thing in the morning for me, prayers. The Holy Spirit talks to me then all day! Keep up your evangelization!
Beautiful Explanation...never heard before...God bless you Bishop Barron...Praise the Lord...
Good morning Bishop Barron, I am so grateful that I could hear your sermon in today's 12th Sunday. Yes peace is indeed a great deal to be in a stormy world of ours. I pray for your continued support to us on your postings here. May God bless you too.
Mark as "Hemingwayesque"! That's why I love listening to Bishop Barron.
I had that inner peace during the Hurricane Ian. I sat in my closet, praying and knowing God was taking care of me! I had damage to my home.
Where there is peace, God is present; where there is turmoil, satan is. Pray!!
May God bless you, Father.
I find the most peace I have ever known when I go to adoration Try that sometimes
His homilies always hit home and prepare me for the weekly mass I am about to attend. He also helps me handle the challenges of the week ahead. Thanks Bishop Barron. May God Bless you and the WOF ministry.

If I were in the boat that evening, I would have gone and slept next to Jesus. That is mad, you might say. You are right. When you are madly in love, your do "mad" things!
Thank you for keeping the path lit brightly. There are millions of us lost out here.

God Bless you Bishop Barron 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Beautiful homily. I would even say that Jesus being peacefully asleep in the boat is resting in confidence that HE's got this and that WE can meet Him THERE, and have that same kind of peace within the storm if only we allow ourselves that luxury.
What an amazing talk! So uplifting and deep. God bless you Bishop Barron
