    Shoei J-Cruise 2:
    The Shoei J-Cruise 2 helmet is the successor to the popular J-Cruise helmet. The original J-Cruise was one of the most advanced Open-Face Helmets available. Now with the Shoei J-Cruise II they made it even better, and like we're used to from Shoei helmets, they've done a great job. This helmet targets the urban rider who is looking for a high end Open-Face Touring helmet for daily use, that wants no compromise on comfort and safety. Its predecessor - the original J-cruise already offered a few nice features. It was the first Open face helmet with an internal sun visor that is certified as sunglasses according to European guidelines. The Visor Mechanism was also renewed on the J-Cruise Two. Sealing the visor better into shell. In order not to compromise on safety, they have not made the multi piece EPS liner thinner, but the outer shell has been raised to accommodate the internal sun shield. As expected from Shoei, this is a Top quality helmet with an AIM shell (Advanced Integrated Matrix) and an EPS inner shell with different densities for superior impact absorption. The outer shell comes in 4 different sizes (1 more than the previous J-Cruise) for a perfect helmet fit. Making the J-Cruise II more compact thanks to the several outer shell sizes. The helmet is prepared for both the SENA SRL1 and the SENA SRL-2 communication system which are also used by the Shoei Neotec 2 (modular) and the Shoei GT-Air 2 (full-face) respectively.
    Arai SZ-R VAS:
    The Arai SZ-R VAS is the latest open face helmet from Arai. It is a jet helmet from the top segment of Arai. Besides extreme safety, this helmet also offers optimal fit and comfort. The helmet has been renewed with a VAS design. The pivot point of the visor is lowered in order to extend the smooth helmet shell surface. This ensures that there is more chance of glancing off of an impact. The ventilation has been upgraded with better ventilation channels and larger, adjustable control buttons. This helmet is prepared for a Pro Shade external sun visor. The interior has also been renewed. It is antibacterial with a neutral acidity level that is close to the acidity of the human skin. Furthermore, this interior is prepared for the speakers of a communication system, without affecting comfort or fit.

    My J cruise 2 which I just bought came with a pin lock antifog insert. It also is a double D ring instead of a rachet system. My only grip is I had problems mounting my Sena 20s either with the original or even the sticky mount. The SRL2 covers is in the way and mounting behind the cover isn't very secure as the sticky mount could not stick well to the uneven surface.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That certainly is an interesting change, though European J-Cruise 2s don't come with these features, and neither, to our knowledge do US or Asian market versions either, but it may be possible that helmets purchased in other markets come with a different set of features.
      The SRL 2 panels make mounting almost any other system a real challenge. And though the direct integration works very smoothly, if you already have a system then it can easily be frustrating.
      Thanks for letting us know how you found the helmet!

    Does it make sense for temperature inside Arai helmet is lower than external?

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question! It is possible to have the lower temperature thanks to the oncoming wind chill which will reduce the helmet's overall temperature. While we don't often get results this strong for ventilation, most helmets are at about equal or 1-2 degrees hotter than the outside temperature. We've also got similar results for the Schuberth C4 Pro modular helmet, which we tested in warm weather, and also came out 1 degree cooler than the exterior. Which of these two helmets are you thinking of going for?

  • @nuffaction5464

    When it comes to my safety value isn't a factor. It comes down to the better product..and hands down that's Arai. Bickering about a sunshade being extra is just dumb. Don't own a pair of sunglasses? And to be totally honest, I don't understand why you'd want to wear either of these open face helmets.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the end of the day, a helmet is there for safety, and Arai always put in the extra effort to make sure that this is the case. Though it was a minor nitpick, an added Pro Shade system on the visor would have really taken the SZ-R VAS the extra mile, since this is becoming increasingly standard for touring. However, Arai's decision not to in the interest of keeping a thicker EPS earns them a lot of respect. Thanks for the comment!
      What did you think of the SZ-R VAS' performance out on the road?

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good point, the US version of the Arai has passed the SNELL standard, which also makes sense given Arai's focus on safety. Thanks for the comment!

    Interesting, I despise the integrated sun visor with the Shoei - you just look like a douche with the visor down. I'd drop it by one star because you can't remove it.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's fair enough, though we currently weight other features a bit more heavily. What did you think of the SZ-R VAS?

    • @cai11tube
      @cai11tube 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can actually remove the sun visor. I removed mine on the GT Air for cleaning. There are 2 tabs at the extreme right and left of the sun visor which lock into the thing that secures the sun visor
