I knew nothing about 3d modeling but this has to be the most informative, understandable and detailed video I’ve seen in years. For that I thank you. Subscribed
Having been in the CG Industry for the past 10 years it's very exciting to see really good tools become more accessible. Thanks for not only a clear tutorial but for explaining some basic modeling terminology as well. Great work bringing people into the community!
That was a really great tutorial video, Erika. You explain everything you're doing very thoroughly, which some other tutors forget, because they're so experienced that they tend neglect the smaller details. I really have learned a lot from you here. I would really like to see you do more Nomad Sculpt projects if you have the time. Many thanks.
Yay I am glad to hear so! It is a challenge to not assume what people know so I try to explain all .-. Thanks so much for the support, I'll keep the videos coming. Cheers! :)
I may need to watch this video 10 times or so, but the amount of detail you packed into it without being overwhelming is very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
What an incredible tutorial! As a fellow video-maker, I really appreciate how much time you put into this, and the attention to detail. I learned a lot from this video. Thank you!
Hi Crayfsman! My wife watches your channel, I hope your having a great day! We want to make things in 3d too, and you are king to drop a comment on this page
My god. You put so much useful info in that tutorial and you are bringing it in such a natural way. It's like the info is somehow "zipped" with ultra high compression you show different kinds of workflow and techniques that serve well in many kinds of situations. You really know your stuff and you know how to bring it. That's good teaching, you're really good. I've seen my share of tutorials, good and bad, yours are definately top notch! And thanks a lot for sharing.
This is a good tutorial. One thing worth mentioning is that cube in the upper right corner can be used to move around your model and a double tap on a face, like front for instance, brings you back to the default front view. All other faces work the same way.
My mind was blown at how intuitive and easy to remember the voxel remesh to subtract geometry works. Hiding the layer with the geometry you want to cut from the other geometry selected is genius. I will never forget how to do that. Amazing! I also just want to say that I searched for a long time for a beginners intro to Nomad sculpt and this is by far the best. Thank you so much!
I honestly believe with all my heart that this is the greatest and easiest to follow tutorial I've ever seen Thank you so much I've struggled with 3D modeling so much but both this app and tutorial is a massive gamechanger
Thank you so much! The bootcamp I'm in for 3d modeling literally made us buy modeling software and then didn't teach us more than how to make floorboards... Nomad is so much easier since I found this video. Thank you again!!
Oh my goodness, what a perfect breakdown for beginners (me). This is exactly the kind of tutorial I have been scouring the internet for. It seems so much less intimidating now!! Thanks for great content!
You are a very good teacher. There are so many talented artists out there who think they are also good teachers, but teaching is a entirely different beast that not everyone is good at. I’ve wasted countless hours & money on gumroads, so much crap out there. But this video was really good and pedagogical, clear, to the point and you had a very good plan on what you wanted to teach, which tools you wanted to show that gives the listener a very good basic grasp of nomad to get going. Bravo!
I made a LOT of learning experiences (mistakes) while following this tutorial, but I did finish it! I got so much out of this, and I love your teaching style.
I really loved this tutorial! It's rare that I watch the whole tutorial on other channels but here it was very clear, very well explained and as I'm French I loved the fact that you speak slowly and clearly, thank you very much for this video!
I'm eternally grateful for such helpful and informative videos like this from creators. Thank you so much. This has improved my experience with nomad by so much.
I actually use Nomad to make figures for my 3D printers, the output can be made clean enough that you can bring it straight to the slicer, though I'd recommend reducing polycount so the slicing process doesn't hang. This is a lovely tutorial BTW
To be honest, I had no intention to do any 3D art. Yet, thanks to your very informative and pleasant video I now am confident in a new found desire to add this app to my iPad Pro. Thank you.
So I just got a new tablet (galaxy A8, 20 inch) and was looking for blender, saw the nomad app as a recommended, Downloaded it and was at first kinda impressed, I poked at a few things, messed shit up, then continued to play with it. I experimented with the settings and things present in the app and began to get more impressed with the app. As i started watching tutorials like this one, as well others my mind was blown away with how simple it is yet allows you to do so much with the program. It is one of the only apps I have bought and am glad about. I hope to start making custom table top rpg characters for people and be able to sell commissions to people so they can have a perfect, or nearly perfect representation for their character( to often specially with lesser known games, finding a reference pic can be difficult)
I’ve got less than 5 minutes in nomad and already wanna give it a 5 star for being able to split screen on the iPad with other apps. Nice video, great design.
Exactly what i am looking for. Just got nomad sculp for my ipad but i am not new to digital arts, still, when i got the app, i felt really loss. Thank you for making this video
Wonderful stuff! You're really great at coaching. I wish I had your help with all the software I'm gonna need to learn. Very natural progression. Some coaches throw everything at you, or don't have a flow anywhere nearly as neat. Thank You, I'll be coming back again and again! Cheers!
yo i am doing this step by step and i am learning a lot. thank you for this video. you should put out more tutorials! i love and appreciate everything that you have done!!! I am sooo proud of myself...this program no longer feels like a calculus equation lol i understand it now.
Thank you so much for the video; I have been playing with Nomad a little bit but didn't have much success; I found your video easy to follow and very clear, and it helped me learn a ton of new skills! Thank you so much for the help!
I’ve never heard of this tool before, but now I’ve bought it. I’ve been struggling with modeling using Blender but this looks do analog and creative! Can’t wait to unleash my designs!
This has been so crazily helpful- Though I'm not nearly as quick at doing these things, pausing the video and restarting it works just fine. My end result is something I'm proud to have made, and the variety of tools this specific project introduced me to really increased my understanding of the app! Thank you so much!!
Yay! I am happy you found the tutorial useful to create your own! (: The editing might make it look quite fast, but in real life I'm much slower sculpting :P
i will be watching this like 100 times! i have not been able to figure out nomad and it annoyed me so much that i couldn't get rid of the raster on the bottom. But now i know and i will definetely use this tutorial as a guide to learn nomad :D
Omg wow brilliant teacher where I was thinking it's too much hard for me but I swear you teached me something special today in just 30 mins really best
Hi, thanks so much for this tutorial. I followed it to the end. I found it very simple and easy to follow and was impressed with the number of things that I learned. I will continue to follow your other tutorials. Thanks so much! Will
Excellent beginner tutorial. I appreciate all the little steps and attention to detail, like circling the tool you're talking about. :) I've just started playing with Nomad and it's so much fun.
Excellent course! A simple little project to discover the app features. A lot of informations given during the video, really helpful to learn. It's clear, efficient, great job 👍
"add some imperfections on the book" I very much understood the assignment!! mine looks a little messy lmao but this is very helpful since I'm quite new to this. thank you!
Wow. Really amazing breakdown of most of the useful tools and features. I'm experienced with zbrush and I was really disappointed with the latency and cost of apps that turn my iPad pro into a drawing tablet for my pc, thankfully Nomad is powerful enough to import my base meshes and I can sculpt details into them directly. Thanks for this
Thank you for the great video! I'm fairly familiar with Nomad, but I found your workflow really great! I also was grateful for some of the deeper settings you showed on some of the tools which I didn't understand or knew were there previously! Thanks!
I am glad to hear that! Its fun to try different methods from different artists, I am super suprised by the creative ways they use tools I never touch :)
This is the most helpful tutorial I’ve seen, I was going to give up but this really gives me hope and new ideas plus a better understanding of what I’m doing lol
At 14:47 you circled the layer menu at the Top but I had to select the project menu at the top for making shape line rotate to 90. Also I figured out my previous question it was a matter of zooming in on the clay and Re-clicking on the clay closer to the ends of it. Thanks for cool tut.
Really really amazing tutorial! I have gone through many nomad tutorials since I got a ipad pro very recently. This is the best among those for beginners. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊
thank you for sharing your knowledge. I was able to sculpt a model from scratch just from watching your video. Will definitely be subbing to your patreon
I think your video is great, however, I have not tried it nor watched any other videos, but you were clear, concise and thorough. I am looking forward to duplicating your results. Thanks for the kind words! I do think Nomad is a great investment, I look forward to seeing your creations, feel free to tag us if you share them online (:
This is amazing, I'm so grateful! As a complete beginner this has taken me all day just pausing, rewinding and practicing and I'm stuck on the mesh part. When I click box and cylinder after positioning the cylinder and voxel merge, I am left with box and not cylinder as shown in your video. So when I duplicate it, it isn't hollow. Am I missing a piece out here? So so grateful for your wonderful trainings! 💛
@@CarlyTaylorDBD That's awesome to hear! I also appreciate you letting us know. I look forward to see your final sculpt! Please feel free to tag me if you share on social media @erikacasab
@@CarlyTaylorDBD when your ready to put into procreate go on top click the grid waffle then the go to the far right next to the pin up its called denimation tab then check off uv Auto unwraps & then go to the top folder button then down to export choose obj Now you can save it to files & import it directly from procreate app or when the save option comes up you can just choose the procreate app and it will open into procreate paint
Your clay brush seems to function a bit different than mine does. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get the nice crisp lines you seem to get with it. Mine is much more rounded, and it's just not the look I'm going for.
Subscribed! -- By far the best video I've found so far to introduce me to Nomad Sculpt. Like others have said, you're very good at explaining all the steps and not going too fast. The only place I got lost was 13:20. When I created the duplicate of the book shape, the gizmo would only let me scale, stretch and squash it, but unless I'm mistaken you seem to be extending the faces to better keep the shape. I couldn't find that option on the gizmo for the duplicated item (unlike for a new primitive) but hope to find that missing piece in another tutorial. Great job!
Thanks Mike! The only the Gizmo of a primitive give you the option to extend the faces on one side only. On the duplicate shape I can only squash or stretch with scale. I hope this helps clarify. Cheers!
I believe only the sphere from a new scene comes with multiresolution levels. However you can add levels to any mesh, in essence what you are doing is dividing by 4 each face. You can check out the video I made about it for more details

This is VERY helpful. I want to start doing this. I’ve seen some people make these and they are Devine.
Yay! Now its time for yours 🎉
I found using the square in top right corner to rotate very useful when close up.

This is such a great tutorial, so informative, detailed, and thorough. I love that you cover so many tools while building this art asset.
