I checked out your Amazon Store ~ that is quite an impressive collection of items ~ especially the cast iron. I have a wall display dedicated to just 'some ' of my cast iron skillets. Need to find something really nice ~ but sturdy for my Dutch Ovens.
If you wanna keep your induction burner clean, you can put a paper towel over top of it before you put your skillet on. Then when you’re done cooking, just throw the paper towel away. It also helps prevent scratches.
I made this last night and it was FANTASTIC! I subbed fresh Basil for the Thyme, added mushrooms, and cooked it in my cast iron in the oven instead. Absolutely THE BEST chicken I’ve eaten in ages! Thanks for the great recipe!
I love when folks take our idea and make it their own. Glad you enjoyed. This is a very historic dish that has past the test of time. Thanks for watching.
Never thought of putting coal on the lid. I'm learning so much, I went from watching his video of sanding down my cast iron skillet to making good ass food. Thanks, Backwoods!
Hey brother, you need not worry about Flay Or Dean. You're cooking like the old times always did and them and their microwave food don't compare! Lol.😉 What a beautiful dish and looking delicious too!
from the Netherlands in europe,i love your cooking and i hold you and kent rollins responseble.you guys made me hooked on cast iron cooking and its so much better it just taste a hole lot better. keep this up and share your recipe`s i realy love trying them and ofcause eat them. love watching your video`s
Doesn't the acid in the tomatoes ruin the seasoning on the pan? Just curious. By the way, this dish looks awesome. I think I smelled it through the screen. lol
Hey! Pressure cooking rice beats using your cast iron method. I would have liked to see you sautee the vegetables with your Dutch oven. The video missed you adding 1 glove of garlic, but I know it might have been edited out. How many cranberries were needed? I did notice your lard was hot enough before adding your chicken breasts. With your help....Found out my 12" Dutch oven is too big!
OK, first, we don't use pressure cooking at all on this channel. This channel devotes itself to techniques for outdoor cooking. We have almost 250 videos and we haven't cooked anything inside yet. Our videos are a guide, not a recipe book and yes, sometimes we don't show every step. Thanks for watching and check out our channel page for much more.
Thanks for your quick reply. I was not expecting to see an electric conductive burner. But, with you using one and not coals or charcoal with a Dutch oven, I wanted to point out the convenience of a pressure cooker. I can use mine over an open fire, but simply using a cast iron frying pan with an electric appliance was surprising. I bring my pressure cooker up to steam for 4 minutes. It can be coals, charcoal, propane, natural gas, or electric. I take it off the heat and 10 minutes later the rice is done when the pressure relief valve goes down. Sorry if I am repeating myself, but I thought I would see cooking not available in my kitchen. Down South, FDR saw wood fired stoves or Dutch oven cooking. He never saw electric conductive cook surfaces. I expected to see the recipe cooked how he had it made.
Hey Backwoods...where did you get the cleaver looking knife. I looked on your Amazon link and didn't see it. I did see a Farberware cleaver but yours looks like a knife. Loved the vid Dude!
The one I used here was made by me from an old circular saw blade. I've been using it for several years now. I have a video on my channel on how to make a knife from and old saw blade, Check it out.
Okay, you got me ~ I am a sucker for ANYTHING cast iron ! I just used your link & ordered the Bayou Classic 7477 Oval Fryer w/griddle lid ~ 6 qt. Do you also earn a fee for the 12 quart one ?
We thank you very much and we do get a commission on anything you buy on Amazon as long as you go onto Amazon thru our store. Hope you enjoy that. It works great on top of the Sportsman's Grill. I don't have on yet.
How many pots and prep bowls did you use? That's a lot of clean up. And using two cooking sources seems like an unnecessary step. Could you just throw all this in a crock pot and avoid so much cleanup?
I thought that cookbook looked familiar. I checked my kitchen cabinet and there it is. I haven't cooked a darn thing out of it....Maybe it's time to dust it off.........
I am Dutch myself, sorry to tell you this but that dish is 100% for sure NOT Dutch. Yes we do eat chicken and chickens were cooked in Dutch history. But this dish is not Dutch but likely German. Deutsche = German, Dutch = Netherlands. For the rice, that is likely added to the dish much later if at all. It could however be a Dutch variation to some degree, but I can not verify that.
This must have missed something in the translation. This is an American dish cooked in the cast iron pot called a Dutch Oven. You are correct, not a Dutch dish.
'Dutch oven' would be in Dutch a 'braadpan'. Something used to this day, but a bit different then what you were using in the video. Many Dutch dishes are created that way, specially the old dishes which also would be very good for outdoor cooking. I really can recommend trying out some of them, think you may find it interesting. Do know it could take a while to get it done, so preparation is key in Dutch dishes. Specially the winter dishes. Example picture can be found here: nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braadpan For translations, well there could indeed be some translation problems along the way. With so many different cultures flooding into America at the early times it would indeed make language a bit of a problem. Things could easily get renamed or the name could evolve into something new. It would be foolish to say anything bad about that aside from being not nice to do so.

IF you continue cooking tomato bases dishes without re-seasoning, it will take some. I just re-season and keep cooking

Just wondering - your plate or cooking surface - is that a piece of steel or aluminum?
5 / 16 ths aluminum. Got it from a scrap pile. Thanks for watching.
Does the price already have the thirty percent off because i see a five percent off offer, just wondering
Not sure. That was the link they sent me.
I just sent them a email to find out whats up. If I get a new code, I will send it to you and update the video.

Wait... when did you put in the cranberries and how much? Your little blurb about your store must have deleted that. And... what's the recipe? Gads!
You can watch this as many times as needed for free right here. Thanks for watching.
Anything cooked in cast iron is better
The preparation portion of the video doesn't say anything about red currant jelly.
Or cranberries, lol
They both go in the last 5 minutes. Somehow got edited out.
once I heard Curry I turned it off
It's not for everyone, but chicken curry (which this is not) one of the most popular restaurant dishes in the US.
Hell nawl too much trouble for an easy dish
