- Wild hunter is one of the 3 classes that is least played across the board! Barely anyone gets this class to level 250 or even 210. What happened that made this class so unpopular? That’s what we intend to find out today in why no one plays wild hunter in MapleStory Global Reboot

All this series has showed me is, that they should've definitely done a resistance class remake before they went back to making new classes.
Resistance and Kaiser..
The funny thing about Wild Hunter is that a long time ago, it was actually pretty popular, mainly because it was one of the only hurricane character at the time that could move while firing and because it's place-down arrow turret trap was significantly powerful. Essentially, this class was pretty strong back in the old days of Maple, but power creep has taken that away from it (and most Resistance classes for that matter).

As a Wild Hunter main who has played the class for 7 years, This video sums up Wild Hunter in 2023. There are some few stuff to add in such as people using hurricane for mobbing. Type P was meant for low funding Wild Hunters and would strongly suggest using it if you don’t one shot with hurricane. The class does require high funding to one shot with hurricane. We were once a DPM class but now we are a heavy DPS class since primal fury our can be used on our burst every 120 seconds and it doesn’t interrupt us at all. Great Video as always!
I recently started playing WH a bit and honestly I’m pleasantly surprised. Both for mobbing and bossing (up to nlomien so far) I kinda liked it. The 60s duration on the summon is very welcome tho, wished it also applied to drill salvo. Very cool class IMO. :)
He literally mentions that exact point about hurricane and type P in the video though.

I learned WH from your WH 2021 guide!
280 wh here there are issues for sure that a remastered could have fixed, but at worst were middle of the pack on damage and our burst feels juicy
WH main here, here are some unmentionned pros and cons that I would like to share:
Pros:
1) The mobbing is actually A- if you can one shot mobs with hurricane and your summons.
2) You get to summon really cool mobs that you capture in town and prank the newbies :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
3) You get to use Backstep and walk backwards as a party trick to impress the hene-hoes :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
4) You can change your jaguar's color depending on your outfit and your mood.
Cons:
1) Too many buffs to click before you can fully burst. (Vicious Shot, Guided Arrow, Silent Rampage, For Liberty, AB's link + 6 of wh's default buffs). Then you have to summon all your summons while spamming the grenade key and jaguar's skills.
2) Even though I am more funded than my Mercedes friends, she seemed to still do much more damage than me.
3) When off jaguar, your mobility is beyond bad, and there is a 1 sec delay to mount on the jaguar which, in boss fight, would cost your life
4) Wh's bind is so low ranged ane easy to miss because its hard to notice where your jaguar is in chaos.
some other stuffs like..
- you need to resummon jaguar every time after you revive from boss fights or else you cant use your jaguar skills
- you need to resummon your jaguar every time the boss teleports away
- all other jaguar skills are low ranged causing attacks to miss often
- bossing with our class requires us to hold a button, while spamming grenades, while pressing jaguar skills every few seconds (fingers spasm)
- jaguars like to stray around facing whatever direction they liked, even when the patch came out where jaguars are lured to highest hp monster, there was still some delay causing dps loss
- managing jaguar skills are such a pain, sometimes pressing on a jaguar skill does not use it immediately (some delays), and delays every few seconds means we are losing dmg to other classes even though we theorically could do much higher dmg

Most attacks from beast tamer leopard form. Would probably work for wild hunter mobbing. It gives the fantasy of... a fast lots of movement jaguar...
If only Beast Tamers Leopard form wasn't so poorly made and buggy and low on damage.

Another thing is another bite stacks which is hard to maintain when bosses are now always iframing or teleporting around
I’m a wild hunter main and I’ve been playing it for so long to the point I don’t even feel it’s bad anymore 😅 once funded you can place 3 summons (turret, rockets and erda shower) + 1 shot everything with hurricane at that point farming is kind of a breeze, the burst rotation is also fairly simple, slam all your buffs summon 6 jaguars and hold down vulcan x while cycling through your jaguar skills. I think the dmg is pretty decent? Idk maybe it just the long hours of investment finally paid off.
I got a wh to 210 recently and i gotta say i actually thought it was p interesting and fun. Using your jaguar in boss fights requires another level of skill and mobbing on wh is not easy to fall asleep on thanks to all the summons and skills you use. I can see why everyone strays away from it but i like the quirks of the class. Just needs some QoL changes and it should become more popular.

I remember skipping school to play it when it came out and then maintenance got extended for so long I couldve just gone to school lol
I REALLY hope we see a full revamp of the Resitance classes. I WANT to like WH but the summons are what turn me off
They gave up. It was supposed to in the upcoming update. Unlike Destiny and Ignition. Destiny was an amazing update, they put way less effort in Ignition. They said that people complained about the Ignition update, so they gave up, and decided to mini-balance all classes instead. As a result, Resistance classes got minimal changes like Coppersan mentioned. They desperately need a revamp, but Nexon Korea is a bunch of pansies
As a tms player, we don’t have 0 attack speed in our server. WH is quite decent on damage, and after ignition update, WH is very nice in both mobbing and bossing. There are still some flaws needed to be changed but this class is very fun and strong after all these updates.

Got one to 202. Never figured out how to get a jaguar
I actually have 2 wildhunters, 1 in each category. 211 and 250 but I no longer play after the Dutch trading changes, was fun while it lasted for 13 years :)
on Savior, u can use the Mobbing skill while moving.
WH does have the... like one single neat perk of being able to fire in the same direction while moving however you wish. Can help keep DPS up while trying to avoid attacks.
There's also the skill that lets you capture mobs and summon them to help you in combat! It's pretty much useless and easy to forget you have it in the first place, but it's there if you want to summon an Orange Mushroom to poke at the Black Mage!
Maybe I'm a weirdo but im actually enjoying training wild hunter to 200. I was mostly doing it for legion but its actually quite fun that I might play it further.
The summons are pretty strong that it's very convenient in smaller maps
Thats the problem lol, they only feel good on smaller maps and all of the endgame maps are massive. Far cry from classes that can just wipe an entire screen and barely has to move.
Resistance overall in due to revamps i think. I am a new/returning player who is really interested in DA and DS as possible mains and as link skills magnets. Plus the castlevania like aesthetic is my jam. I just wonder which one is cooler.
Do yourself a favor and go with DS. It's probably the best 1st class cuz you get free 100% crit and IED plus you do absurd damage and super tanky so you can solo clear bosses way earlier than almost any other class. DA is one of the most painful classes in the game, they build pure HP and yet they're the squishiest class in the entire game. Super clunky and slow.
Currently at lvl 190 on WH and doing HT/PB daily for ez level ups.
It hasn't been too bad for those bosses, but I couldn't imagine training on it, but perhaps that gets better with all the summons + erda shower during 5th job.
I'll never know tho since I'm only getting the character to 200. Perhaps one day I'll hyper burn it as some sort of priority, for the extra damage % from the legion effect, which is the only reason it's going to 200 right now.

Probably trying out WH as a main & a returning Mapler wasn't exactly a great idea lol. Managing jag skill feels so overwhelming when other classes can output the same amount of damage a lot more easily. Also, what's the point of having 2 buff duration jag when they don't stack? I really hope some big changes are coming for WH and Resistance in general since Resistance aesthetic is what draw me into the game in the first place, sad to see the "Why no one plays" series features literally all of them lmao
im not proud of it but 5 years ago i botted this class and then sold the account for $90
259 WH main here, very good mobbing class, average boss class. heres what we need nexon:
-New visuals sprites for jaguars/turrets
-better 3rd turret (resistance infrantry) it only last 7 seconds.. make it 30!
-dont need to re-equip jaguar when dying
-better jaguar AI.. (stop following me.. go to the boss PLZ REEEE)

Recently I tried to level all 4 resistance to get the link skill to solo Hmagus on my main. It was so cancer than I only managed to level wild hunter and blaster to level 130 thanks to the free burning, 1 battle mage to level 100 and the last mechanic to 60.
Wild hunter had no vertical jump when mounted and mobbing was slow until you hit fourth job. The jaguar was kinda useless with long cool down and very little aoe.
Blaster at least had high damage and high aoe so it was the better one out of the 4.
Battle mage doesn't feel anything like a close combat mage and maybe because I played DW recently, that class felt more like a battle mage than a warrior
Mechanic, the worse out of the 4 with the most slow mobbing and clunky movements, I slept 2 times while grinding to level 60 and just gave up trying to get it to 120 without burning
It's still my favorite archer class to date. It's intricate enough that if done right it actually feels really fun to play. I play them separately I never really ride the jaguar anymore just control both. I also love that when you summon all the jaguars they all do the jaguar attacks when you press them it's pretty good for mobbing maps and bosses as they all hit for the marks damage... I also really love them being able to lock in their stance so you can back pedal and keep hurricaning if you need to without a dps loss for turning around... If it wasn't for my lackluster archer gear (paladin main) I'd probably second main it.
Wildhunter buff is amazing, but I've never leveled one past lvl 200 myself. Mostly the only exposure to high level wildhunter gameplay I get is MisusingTV's content
Wh was my first lvl 200 class on reboot. I played it because the summons were potent to me at the time. I stopped playing it around lvl 214. The summons didn’t last long enough for me to have fun playing it much. Also can’t up jump while mounted have to use the diag dash skill. :/
Wildhunter is my first 200+ character tho(also my main), the point that I like the most are basically what have been list as force pushing other players away by video xD.
I enjoy the micro managing feel and I like the simple place-down arrow that save my finger and keyboard lol.(Specially after playing blaster)
But it is really hard to get 200 with its skill especially back in the day that wild hunter was just released.
Maybe it is because so less people play it, the maple team are thinking it need to be buffed. I like so much every revamp of wildhunter from the first one untill today. It just makes my gaming experience so comfortable that I will difinitely recommend so people to play as a main (at least not just 200 legion character, it is useless for that ,from link skill too),
Its only good if your hunting machine and drill container can 1-2 hit mobs. And also when bossing, I start bursting after my friend done their burst. Our worst nightmare: Damien/Lucid P2

I dunno man, I think they (Nexon) want the Resistance to gather dust or something. Shame, because only my Resistance and Sengoku classes have each and every character at level 210 and beyond (and Xenon is my first level 250 character).
There realy need to be a resistance revamp because you can say why nobody plays resistance 😂
I love Wild Hunter aesthetic, also Evan. Nexon should give them both some fixes with their jaguar and dragon, jaguar and dragon are the same like 27737 years ago
i stopped playing wild hunter after they started with dismantle attacks , i loved wild hunter for the way that you were using skills on the jaguar, not off as a side mount attacking next to you. i hope they rework this and makes it more attractive to use, because now its a headache to play.
years ago before i quit, i hated the idea of resummoning my jaguar after i died

The revamp forcing you to spam the Jugar skills killed my love for the class and It was my first 200. Bossing became so annoying .
I saw a lvl 262 wild hunter and gave it a fame because the poor sod needed it.

Istg KMS players are a bunch of whiny babies. Losing the Resistance Revamp was far from the first (and last) time their whinging screwed the rest of us over.
That being said, it doesn’t help that Nexon always flips out and overreacts at the slightest whiff of criticism.

I loved wild hunter at first release but it’s turned into WAY too much management.. remove the off jag Garbo it’s just too much.. at this point it just needs to be a summon like BM and MM has

I had one as a bossing mule in regular servers. Switched to reboot recently and have been recently recreated it as a main.
It's a lovely class that feels slightly clunky in bossing, but really just needs a graphics update. Map control is pretty nutty, especially when you add in other summons.
Bossing is very involved and mobbing is somewhat braindead which I love in a class. It feels maybe a little weak but overall very balanced.
I’ll be honest, they’re just kind of boring. I loved the panther aspect of the wild hunter, but it seemed to get overshadowed by… arsenal weapons which is kind of weird to me, because I don’t think big guns and explosions is what the class fantasy is about. It feels like a lot of their moves could’ve just been given to mechanic or blaster.
If it was more about the panther and the arrows? I would’ve stuck with it. But since it just turned into a weird mix of weapons… I really lost interest. A classes visuals are a big part of the class for me. It’s not like their gameplay is anything special either, so not much to attract there. But I totally would’ve taken the mediocre gameplay for some awesome panther visuals.
Beast tamer’s leopard is cool for that at least. If only BT actually got attention and all it’s numerous bugs fixed… ahhh.. my love for BT’s leopard form with always be overshadowed by cat form.
I haven’t played wild hunter since it was a fun class so I have good memories of it 😅

Why no one plays illium?
As an Illium player myself I can safely say it's 100% the use of the battery / the moving of the orb.But our mobbing is IMO the best in the entire game post 5th job and we just have some of the most clear burst in the game too simply because we can fly around the entire time during it for essentially 40 seconds of flight while we burst. But it's just a class people don't enjoy micromanaging on when the micromanagement is very minimal when you learn how to do it.
hurricane skills deal the most lines in the game, it is about rate of fire not how many lines are in one instance

I think that there are too many classes in MapleStory. The perfect number for me was basic 4 + pirate and that's all.
Instead of new classes, I would like to see more specializations on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th jobs advanced.

watched all why everyone/noone plays this classes made me realize that it is not just that some classes are bad or outdated it that new classes or remaked ones are too flashy with extreme hit boxes, lots of lines, and lazzy grider. back when not everyclass was like that all the classes felt more unique. I would prefer classes like wild hunter, blaze wizard or corsair to stay like that and made leveling easier with out make this dumb flashy characters

As someone that used to main wh on main servers before reboot was a thing they did wildhunter dirty changing its mechanics in an unfun way. Its just really unfun compared to what it used to be.

Resistance all feel so outdated. You don't even need 210 for max link skill so why bother training more. Lastly, all the resistance classes just turn into summon bots that make them clunky and unappealing, why does a jaguar riding bowman set up turrets it makes 0 sense

Maplestory is one fo the most popular games in the world, stop trying to hate on Maple simply because Nexon took away 1 video game. I do agree on Nexon not being the best though.
