The Beast tamer is a mage class and a class that isn’t released in MapleStory Korea or MapleStory SEA. This class is also only available twice a year, so it is only natural that this class is created a lot less.

It won't, don't worry. BTs have actually been getting small QoL changes over the years and have way fewer bugs than Jett does. Also, BT is available in JMS, TMS, CMS as well so it's extremely unlikely for this to happen:p

Yea but I believe Jett/Zen was only available in GMS/MSEA (I think) whereas BT is available in 4 regions. Also, BT has been getting QoL changes constantly and has a lot fewer bugs than Jett/Zen.
@@porgipandacorgi7849 Zen is just recolored Jett and is available in MSEA, CMS and TMS. They're all in the same situation where play rate is abysmal across all servers, plus BT creation is limited unlike Zen and Jett. But hey feel free to keep coping.
Little tip for people looking to get into Beast Tamers, its kinda a pain but if you get the Hatching(Leafry) familiar badge its +1 to all skills so you can lvl all your animal skills to 1 under max and the badge will max out everything saving you a ton of skill points and helping you get through all 3 animal trees faster

When i started playing maple only a year and a half ago, i managed to start when Beast Tamer was available… and ive never looked back, easily my favorite class. I just love all the options that it comes with

I play it! I actually am still in the pretty early game(3k legion, level 220) and even if it gets nuked, I haven’t found any class I love to play as much so I’m here for the ride ☺️

I absolutely love beast tamer. I’m currently leveling one up as a secondary main. I’ll be upset if they remove the class tbh because I plan to take it to the end.

My issue with beast tamer is that in leopard form, you start off with it feeling super smooth, then it proceeds to get continually chunkier and chunkier to play

@@Niimsy So I just hit level 120 with Beast Tamer and Im not sure what you mean by it getting chunkier to play with? It seems like its still just spamming the regular attack while its power grows to insane lengths. Its additional attacks like the Dash and the... Bomb thingy seem kinda silly dont not necessary.
I'm also wondering when and how this Hawk gets good cause each skill point doesn't seem to do anything but some utility.

@@Romalian Mainly that each attack in the beginning has you moving very fast, flows into eachother smoothly. But instead of increasing mobility, they instead take the route of adding the swipe that launches forward when you dont input a key. Thus adding a skill that forces you to be stationary and reset your attack combo. When you are afflicted with attack speed slows this can reduce your movement and attack cycle by up to 80%. The class is very fun. But unless you are very funded, around 220 it becomes so miserable to play.
And hawk is much better when you have the ability to max all skills in the tree. It has so many passives that increase damage. It will basically melt through anything with 0 effort. It remains better until you become very strong and can 1 shot everything around you with your little leopard summons. At which point whatever you play is completely personal preference

Did they ever fix how some of their attacks don't completely fill wide screen mode? I hated that problem so much.

Geuninely scared for my old guild leader (Nightlight, NA Reboot). OP BT, super invested, loves the class, despite the issues, bugs, bans. Praying Nexon doesn't delete the class, I'm sure they're prepared for it with Jett otw out but it doesn't make it suck any less.
For mains, such as myself the proper way to play a BT is to unlock all the passives in each animal. That way you're so much more useful to your party when you do use that whistle. You give them a ton of skills and gold card with buff duration can last like 10 minutes or so. I wasn't really feeling the way that leopard played but hawk is really fun and I do bear for solo bossing. Cat is for party play. Part of the reason leopard wasn't for me was that with holding a direction and moving forward with your attack skill, you are moved a set distance so you can miss a lot of mobs as you move. Hawk is much easier to clear the map with that tornado skill is so broken and kills everything and you can use that and baby bombers at the same time. It takes a bit of funding to be good like you said, but I really don't understand why so many people sleep on this class.

As someone who main/mained Beast Tamer since the release this video is accurate lol. I remember when the starting area of Beast Tamer was so broken that you almost couldnt progress because the floor practically didnt exist, you had to parkour withought even knowing what you were parkouring on. luckily that was fixed, but with the excuses they are using for suddenly removing Jett, I dont see it going well for Beast Tamer either :(
Beast tamer was cool to level for the level 3 link skill, other than that I see why it isn’t popular
I wanted to fund my beast tamer last year during destiny, but it got too expensive. I think I’ll revisit beast tamer when I have a crazy meso income and can fund her without missing out on my other characters.

According to Nexon's memo, Jett's getting axed because it's an adventurer, which made find bugs significantly harder, so BT is fine. Make of that what you will.
I actually like BT's design. SP allotment isn't braindead and reminds me a little of Diablo II's legendary class designs. Her story is fun too and class is openly silly. I never really got into BT because the aesthetic isn't for me.
I main BT and love it lol I am afraid of it's deletion for sure though
Great job idea, QOL buffs made her somewhat ok, bit on the low side in terms of damage but her esthetics make up for it. But being non-KMS.. ooof.
Bear is far and away the best animal. I usually just farm with the toy hammers
I like how you don't have to put all skill points into 1 animal. (Only use bear for bossing, so I don't need the vacuum skills) If skill points are effectively placed, then you can use all animals.
My guesses is either because the class is only available to create for a limited of time, or that because they prefer the original Beast Tamer character, which were Chase who has animal ears and tail rather than the new Lynn character without any animal parts. Looks more like a druid than a semi-anthro character.
And I gonna be honest: Even I miss the original Beast Tamer. That was a really cute character, really.

That sounds dangerously close to the main reason why Jett is going to be removed. Hopefully, it won't share the same fate, but who knows.
And yeah, I can see this being the reason why it's so unpopular. While it's a good class, it's just neglected for not being released in Korea.

I would never recommend anyone main these classes for this reason. It's not worth investing so much into the classes KMS doesn't have since there's even a tiny chance they'll eventually be removed. Unfortunate too cuz Jett was fun and Beast Tamer is fun. I will never be doing anything with mine over level 210.

Beast Tamer is my second favorite class (second to Paladin of course). I have not played in a while, but I enjoyed farming while in cat mode. It is not as efficient as leopard or hawk, but I still loved it.
I wish I enjoyed Maplestory as much as before, so I could go back to him.
Still wish the skill points work like zero which was released after BM proving they could have had a separate skill point pool but nope, BM still has a shared point pool which feels stupid and bad

Me: Using Hawk and ONLY Hawk mode with Cat on the side laughing as I only need two of all the skills.
Since its not in KMS then I'm gonna assume its gonna get deleted at some point.
I have a 246 BT and the thing that really killed the character is when it was discovered to have a bug that made ALL passives apply at ALL times. No one noticed because this isnt not indicated visually. Eventually it was noticed and people were able to figure out her real damage, putting her closer to upper middle in terms of DPS compared to others. Nexon also noticed and proceeded to slap us in the face by turning the "bug" into a long CD buff to remind you of the good old days when you could one shot monsters instead of now 3 shotting... because yes, she got the biggest nerf ever of more than 66% damage lost.

i would main BT if there was confirmation that it wouldn't get deleted. but after the precedent they set with jett we genuinely just don't know and i'm not going to waste my time.

Man, all this fear of more classes getting removed is disturbing. If Aran gets removed, I’ll probably go ballistic and end up using the class change thingy they give us to become a Dark Knight due my heavily invested gear load out.

Who wants to play a class that can go years without balancing or fixes? Jett had this issue too. I'm sure both bt and jett would've been way more popular if they were just supported properly.
If by years you mean 1 year (this past year) after ~4 years of getting fixes and balances in every balance patch, then sure. From 2019 - 2022 (Destiny), BT was very consistently buffed. The same was not true for Jett.

@@ichisuGMS I'm referring to the time from like 2015 until then, when every other class continued to modernize and receive necessary updates throughout (especially) the beginning of V and onwards. You especially should remember how BT had that godawful slow ass hawk Fly, it kept awful baby bombers/defensive formation until like Rise, clunky ass leopard pre-wavedash or whichever patch sped its skills up, hammers that needed you to break your keyboard AND didn't allow you to move smoothly until recently (and it still has paw swipe windup which prohibits you even further!!), old useless Champ Charge, missing boost nodes for essential skills, etc. Those years of neglect and confusion are what gave BT the negative perception it has today, exactly like how Jett was essentially a joke from the point it got its big purple revamp until it received consistent, true, necessary balancing between its huge Awake (2020) and Bugcat Capoo (late 2021) balance patches. I'm saying that if these classes weren't left in a ditch while players got used to the modern maple design then I personally think they would have significantly higher playrates than they do today. They're very interesting concepts marred by developer neglect. It's too little too late from Nexon at this point. No matter how much you and other BT mains try and change the public's perception, the class is scarred heavily by its past and nexon needs to go above and beyond CONSISTENTLY for people to be willing to commit to these classes en masse again. Of course I'm hoping for the best for yall in Savior and beyond but the fact is that nobody wants to play a class whose future in balancing is shaky at BEST. Why would I commit my life to a class who MIGHT just get ignored for the next few years? People don't look at current BT and go "hell yeah this class FINALLY works after all these years now I can finally spend all my time and energy and money on it," they go "damn how long before nexon gives up on keeping up this class? I better just avoid it and save myself the headache in case they stop giving a fuck again"
@@worldfrost That's understandable. Gives me a better idea of what your point is, and I can't disagree. Much of the negativity is based on past sentiment and I can't blame people for feeling that way.
However, the class' current reality isn't nearly as bad as people seem to keep wanting to portray it as. It's why I'm so critical of BT "content" not created by mains or in collaboration with mains. We already deal with unnecessary DMs, doomposting, stupid questions, misinformation, and negativity on a frequent basis. The existing stigma continues to perpetuate itself through content that's poorly informed.

BT just has such a weird kit that can't gel together. Great that you have 4 modes but what's the point? Not as if you can use 4 forms at the same time or that it makes sense to transition from one form to the other like a form of combo.
Except that’s exactly what we do? Our burst spans three modes.
Why wouldn't it make sense to transition from one form to another? It's not hard to swap, and the gameplay encourages it. If you're not actively using Bear, Hawk, and Cat together while bossing then you're doing something wrong.
The way they de-centralized the game development just sounds very awkward and bad.

Beast Tamer getting removed next?
Beast Tamer have so many problems. The class mobbing haven’t change for years, recent update give more skill point, but because BT already have their mobbing skill max that change nothing. Bear normal attack do 1 line of like 300% and NL star do 260% at level 200. Bear Fart do 210+140%, despite the description of Billowing Trumpet, the skill do 2 line of damage and can be desync if use while mob respawning. Plus high level map 230+ have no synergy with the skill making mobbing harder. Leopard might seem mobile, but it’s terrible. All Bt mobbing in Hawk and Leopard do around 2000% damage but Leopard’ Paw require 3 click to do that damage and uneven as the Leopard afterimage does not hit the mob that you dash through in order to proc it. Leopard pounce is janky, unlike Ark similar skill where can go through platform, Leopard just leave you at the top which go against the new map design philosophy that NX have, so can’t farm. Because of the terrible mobility in Leopard mode, 3-point pounce become useless as its hit box prefer to be at the lower side of the map. And for Hawk the skill is just unreliable, if you have mobs near where you are, the skill will have small hit box and with 3 sec cooldown, you will have to be able to clear the entire map in 2 skill usages. Again with the map design, that is impossible, you might be able to blow the screen up but in reality BT mobbing is worse than most. Furthermore BT support is horrible in bossing because you don’t have to hit the boss to support, Bishop heal is build in with his bossing skill while BT have a separate skill that only heal and do no damage. BT buffs are also very punishing, because we never receive the buff delay remove update. Because of the way animal modes work, it very likely that your team benefits from Hawk buff more than you. The damage disparities between mode is insane, assume buffs transfer through modes, bear at 100%, then we have Hawk at 80% and Leopard/Cat at 10%, Bear spin offer 200-300% damage increase ( ex: 800 to 1000) the entire duration you use it and lost x% damage reduction that work on boss, therefor not worth. Hawk can out damage Bear spin for 4-5000% damage( ex: 10000 to 15000) but you have to stand on top of the boss use tornado and hit the boss with all 4 birds from mobbing skill, which also bad because you rely on the boss not hitting you for 8 second straight while unable to move. Now we get to the nodes, you have bad skills that basically the same on 2 separate node, you have 2 useful skill use the same node as the bad, to maximize bossing damage you will be having 6-8 trio but only 2( only 1 skill Bear hammer)to do 90% of the max. And despite being “explorer mage” BT don’t have unreliable memory, instead we get nothing .

Historically, BTs used Leopard for mobbing until Hawk was revamped and gained suitable/functional boost nodes. Now pretty much every endgame BT farms in Hawk. Destiny giving us more SP made this preferable because it allowed us to get to the end of all 4 animal trees at once, which wasn't possible before that. This did two things: You didn't need to respec between Leopard and Hawk anymore for the Leopard FD passives to boss with, and we were able to add Tornado to our burst rotations while keeping Leopard's passives. That was huge, because our burst went up +20~% FD. To say it was "nothing" is silly.

This seems dramatically over-exaggerated. Yes, Baby Bombers has monster collision. You play around that with positioning and full clear small-medium maps anyway. I'm 282 and have never had issues mobbing in Grandis+ areas.

The vast majority of BT's support is accessible even if you're outside of Cat mode. Cat's auras stay on party members for up to 40s without you having to refresh them or party members needing to be around you. Having whistle active also refreshes those auras, so a BT could literally ignore cat mode for upwards of 100s without having to swap into Cat or stopping your damage output. Gold Card has a long duration, no animation to cast, and also persists across modes so that's not a problem either. You can refresh it for your party during your burst rotation since you're in Cat for Cradle anyway. Cradle is a 20% FD party buff (or rather, a debuff) that doesn't require you stay in Cat either. Doing everything else like dispelling, healing, reviving, or dropping tree is situational can be done with a quick swap since you don't constantly need to be doing it. Swap in, then quickly swap out. If you're not attacking because you're trying to support, you're playing incorrectly or inefficiently. It's also not true that we didn't receive buff delay removal. All of Hawk's buffs had their cast times removed or reduced, Meow Card lost its cast lock as they allowed us to move and jump while using it, and none of Cat's other buffs have cast delay because they passively refresh themselves.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here with your numbers. Fishy Slap is typically a damage loss against Furious Strikes at 0 attack speed, but it has no wind-up so it's technically a damage gain if you know you can't hammer for more than 10s (like during Black Mage p3 when you have to duck). It's also functionally a hurricane (not affected by attack speed) so it beats Furious Strikes at AS2. The damage disparity between animals doesn't matter, because you should be primarily dpsing during bosses in Bear and using Hawk for burst with whistle active (you can also use Hawk dps in niche scenarios like when platforms drop in Lotus or in Darknell to be safer). You don't need to do damage in Cat or Leopard, because you should never be attacking in those modes to begin with.

Which is why you primarily use Hawk's Tornado for burst during Team Roar (your 15s ).

You only need 4 trios. 2 devoted to Bear (Furious Strikes, Lil Fort, Fort Follow-Up) and 2 Hawk trios (Baby Bombers, Tornado, whatever you want here).

hawk is better for bossing than bear
No it's not. You only ideally want to use Hawk for burst. Bear is always better damage off-burst.
@@ichisuGMS Bear is burst, hawk can reliably deal damage all of the time and is way more agile for dodging attacks while still dealing damage
it's not in Korea, therefore, it will be removed soon. why bother?
