In my opinion, Older is George's best album. And for me, this is one of the best albums in the history of music. Masterpiece!

I absolutely agree. For me it's a toss up between GEORGE MICHAEL - OLDER (1996) and SADE - LOVE DELUXE (1992). For me these are the two best albums ever made. This is 2020 almost 25yrs later and there has been nothing to come close to either of the above.

The whole Older album, best album EVER MADE!!! EVER! Period.
This is one of the best songs ever, happy, sad, crazy, beautiful....this was one of the songs that healed me after my divorce....so powerful.
This song is about the uncertainty of death. It's about Anselmo's journey dying from AIDS. He's helpless, wasting away and it's all moving so fast. He's crying for help, but it's too late. "Take me to a place where a child can grow." He wants another chance to correct the actions that sealed his fate. "save me" he says throughout the song. He concludes the song with "cold water" rushing in, life leaving his body and he would beg to be forgiven if he knew his sin. He has nothing to atone for because all he did was live his life and that couldn't be "sinful" right?

In my opinion, it is about letting go. Letting go the love for the lost one. You cry for help but in reality you dont want it, you want to mourn. Nobody can help you and you're just a sinner because you loved too much.The wounds are self inflicted and there is no way anybody can heal them but you. You feel completely hopeless and the river just takes you to places you have never imagined to be. You can swim but then when you are about to take a first stroke, the voice in your head tells you no. You want to drown. You dont want to live but you know that you must carry on. You look around for a fantasy (probably new love) and ask river to take you to the places where the child (the enormous sadness) can grow and let you go. Despite your effort to get out you are still going down and wondering what is you sin? Can it really be that you love that much?

@@blachubear He's Christian as he was growing up. As he's teenaged girlfriend whose has loved him and they have Christian faith too. They had broken up few time, and the last one she'd broke up with him on Xmas Day. They're separated and she decided to have gone away. Sadly they both still had the same feelings. It's destiny how they had met again and again throughout their times. If God's plans that they would have met each other again. They've reunited in their old age. She'd the same faith that their fates were challenged and both had said their prayer before he was passed away. God had blessed them, HE had given GM's talents.
One late afternoon, I was lying on the lounge listening to this track from the album & I could relate to it to different episodes in my life & a tear ran out of my left eye & ran down my cheek..... This beautiful musician has left us with a truly amazing legacy.... Thank you George !

Very Very beautiful man with soulful voice attack directly to one's heart and then stayed there forever. George Michael deserves loyal fan. He was very right when he said that "I do have the most loyal fans in the history of pop music." Surely he deserves this after producing such timeless pieces of music. Man, it's the first time i hear this song and this hit me hard just like "One more try" did. I really think "one more try" was about his internal situation more than just a toxic relantionship. With this song i could tell it was truth what i really thought. The entire "Older" album is one of the most meaningful and mature albums i have listened to. George Michael was definitely one of the most meaningful and greatest songwritters ever, alongside Prince too. Is incredible how they could innovate an entire new sound in their albums and still have an impressive story/ experience in every song.
While I'm deeply in love with this album, it's extremely hard for me to listen to this song without crying. Despite the countless times I've listened to it, this track always gives me a painful and bittersweet feeling...
