Regarding the Big Blow Turbines, MTH did make this engine twice. Engine #5 was made with the first version of Protosounds, and #26 was made with PS2. Both feature 4 motors and smoke units in each engine. Both nice pullers for long freight consists.
when i was there id come in on the calif zyhper. at that time we had 2 other trains that would hook up with the z train. didnt know that this was all their as we had to get off and wait whilst the crew is changed . locos changed and provisions stocked . once we got on . we go. nice displays and all
Great video! That was Doyle McCormick's NKP rs unit. I think that Santa Fe locomotive was an ALCo RSD15 Alligator. Thanks for sharing your visit. I hope to get out there someday. -Ricky
Union station is one of my most beloved places in the world, I’m glad you enjoyed your visit! For some context on the NKP unit, it is indeed a working loco. The livery is not historically accurate tho, it never worked on the NKP. It’s actually Utah Railway 306, which worked out of Provo until it retired in the 80’s. It was then bought by the Oregon rail heritage center, and lived there up until a few years ago when it was given to Union station and returned to Utah. It’s due to be repainted into the previous Utah railway livery soon, and should look a lot more accurate!
I totally would however, I'll be busy with work. Big boy was incredible in 2019. I'm so happy we made a trip out there to see the 150th! Happy Railroading 🚂!
One locomotive that wasn’t present in the video was the Western Pacific GP35 3002 that was just recently restored. It was donated to the museum by the previous owner, the Arkansas Midland Railroad.
Thanks James! We enjoy taking train trips! We are doing a lot of work on our layout now. The next videos will be highlighting the trains and layout. Happy Railroading!
UP 833 still has her whistle attached to it and theres a recording of 836 and 833 on possibly one of the last doubleheaders on the UP for passenger service recorded by Howard fogg I'm wondering what 833s whistle would sound like maybe someday 844 could wear it

Great tour thanks
Thank you and happy railroading!🚂
Wonderful tour! This might be a "must see" stop after the LCCA convention before returning back to TN.
Absolutely! Were you able to make the trip out there following the LCCA convention?
LCCA store and member trading store depleted my wallet. A fun convention though!

Scaletrains was the first to have the Turbine In HO.
The toilets in the old caboose were cast iron, the poop and pea fell out o. The road bed.
Enjoy your train trips..

Will you be chasing the big boy this summer?
Unfortunately we will not be able to chase the big boy this time. Hopefully next time! Happy Railroading!
I was there
Its definitely a cool place to visit🚂
Yep it is I wish the golden spike historic site could connect to Union station as a tourist railroad
There are ex ATSF locos there.
We found them, at first I was a little shocked to not see any however, they were tucked away. Happy Railroading 🚂!
Scaletrains make that turbine in HO
I’m pretty sure MTH made one in HO scale
I hope Lionel makes this turbine in the future🤞🚂
