The stuff of dreams. Def turned out to be a fish-catching day. Great intro. And love that grinding music hook you interspersed throughout. Shout out to new bud Drew.
That is an incredible day and the colors on those bull trout is amazing! If I could pick the best water color to fish that would be it. About 3ft of visibility is perfect in my opinion and it looks amazing too.
Haha! Thanks Brent! Yeah, it just doesn’t get much better for water quality. Cool to see the glacier behind me that it’s running out of. So special. Hope those glaciers hold some water in them for some years yet!
Those are bull trout they are protected in Washington you are unable to target them in the state there are however a few rivers where you can catch there searun cousins the Dolly Varden I believe it’s the same situation as rainbow trout and steelhead the only difference being one enters the ocean for part of its lifecycle!
@@fishandflywithgus I have never caught a Dolly, so I would have to have the regs and pictures of each to identify. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I agree! We weren’t targeting bulls per se, it’s amazing they kept eating Drew’s egg fly. Protecting their genetics and getting a snack at the same time!
Wow, what color egg pattern did your buddy tie up? I have never had much luck on egg patterns, but I need to try!! That bull was the size of a small dolphin.
Thank you! That’s Notellum. Lol. If we meet up sometime we can talk about it. I have not fished north/east of the Pendo Orielle but would love to. I’m on the CDA River a lot, Spokane River sometimes, and Crab Creek for sure.
@@fishandflywithgus thank you for not disclosing the places you fish and film. they're all discoverable of course but only if you put in the work and time to explore. most people won't, which makes these wild places that much more special.
Thank you for saying this. Trying really hard to find the balance and it's not always easy. Let me know if you have further thoughts and feedback for me on how I'm doing with that, as time goes on with more videos.
Haha! Thanks Boss. Taken several years and many semi-miserable misadventures to eventually find em’ semi-consistently. Keep engaged with the channel and next fall let’s go make a slay day like this one. 👌
killer day of some great mountain fishin
It really was. Thank you for watching and commenting!

@fishandflywithgus Looking like a snowy winter for the mountains👍
Wow, incredible. Some of those fish were real bruisers. Definitely a top 5 day.
Thank you so much!
Wow the colors of those bulls are stunning!
Right! Have me blushing over here ☺️
Absolutely incredible video and day of fishing, brother!! Wow!! 🏆🏆🤙🤙✌️🎣
Thank you!!!
In Washington we call them Dolly Varden LOL
They’re listed as both in the WA regs. Can you differentiate between the two? 🤷♂️
Different species. Salvelinus malma - Dolly/ Salvelinus confluentus - bully

@@haydenconstable7197 There are a few west side rivers where they are legal to target.
Euro nymphing for bull trout, amazing!

I like fishing. Brother
I mean who doesn’t!? 👊🙏🐟
one of my favorite sections of water
🤤
Also, what fly line are you using here? A standard float line or an outbound short?
Just basic floating line. My gear is always super simple as you can tell 🤷♂️

He tied this himself I believe. It’s a fleshy body with a heavy tungsten bead and a little orange collar. 🔥
@@fishandflywithgus amazing! I will tie some up now!!
Great video Joel!
Thank you!!!
1st one was a brookie?
First one was a rainbow.
Sick video!!! You ever come to the northeastern corner of Washington? What creek is that?
