    I'd been struggling to remember how to tie this knot, and your tutorial really helped me get it right. Thanks for taking the time to post it.
    My goal now is to set everything up so as to not waste as much fly line and leader when the final trimming takes place, but if I could add anything to this nice video, I'd advise the beginners to leave PLENTY of extra length on the leader tag for their first few attempts.
    Thanks again !

    I like to tie needle nail knots for all of my trout line - leader connections; this video of yours is the clearest and most concise demonstration with a tube. Thanks! One small correction could be made for improvement, though, between 2:19 to 2:34 where you are using your left and right thumbnails to push the loops together and pull from the opposing side; at 2:28 you say left side of the loops where you work with the right side of the loops, and do pull to tighten them on the left side. That's the only flaw -- but the visual does correct what you say. Best of good cheer! thomasw

    (T''s Hubby) YES>>> this is my go to video anytime I forget a step. I don't use this knot often but with a little glue at the connection of my fly line to the leader, it works for me. Thanks!

    Great demo Terry... Thank you... One suggestion tho for the newbies, moisten the knot prior to cinching. Also, for those who don't already use them, the most accessible form of tube comes from the common earbud. I always have some in my tackle box.

    Hello .
    Please then use this knot for sea bream fishing with sea worms.
    Does this knot stay in place, by that I mean is there a danger that the knot will come apart? .
    thank you for these 2 answers.
    I am a fan of this assembly !.
    Thank you very much Good continuation A PÈCHEUR DES HAUTS DE FRANCE

      If tied correctly it will hold, most important to wet it before you tighten it up. If you look at mono through a microscope it is as rough as sand paper, If you don’t wet it when you pull it together the friction will create enough heat to weaken the mono. Very important in this knot to wet it for it to be strong.

    No glue, the knot is designed to tighten on the fly line. With the weight of a fish on your leader, the knot just gets tighter. If your leader comes off your fly line, you either tied it wrong or didt tighten it up enough before casting/catching. Pull on the leader to test the knot before casting. Dont want a fish fishing around the water with a fly and leader while your standing there reeling in your fly line without the fish!

    So simple........even an idiot like me can do it !!!!!
    Two questions though.......i take it there`s no problems wit the knot sliping and is it worth just addin a drop of super glue to the knot,for a bit of added security ???
    Regards,
    Nick.

    • @flyfisher1444
      @flyfisher1444  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alex Seme you can buy them at hobby shops, its a small brass tube about a foot long, I cut it with a dremel tool then sanded the end very carefully being sure not to leave any burrs to cut the line. It is PERFECT for this application. Thanks for your viewing - Terry

      I've always used the tubing from an old dried up Bic pen or similar pens, the clear tubing is usually pretty strong.

    Thanks a bunch for the helpful video. Sometimes I look at the knot afterward with a magnifying glass and it looks like a loop has jumped over another turn. What did I do wrong?

    • @flyfisher1444
      @flyfisher1444  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bill Ruland Not sure Bill, on the video at time 2:10 when I get things organized before I cinch them tight I get them lined up and organized so when I do pull everything tight the loops stay where I put them, thats just a guess. Thanks for your viewing and comment.
