"Honestly" is a great Christian rock ballad.
I sure hope they get to honestly..
That is truth! :) "First Love" is really good too. I hope they do both
Don't forget "All of me" from that same album. It's the second to the last last song and also one of the greatest. I sang it to my girlfriend and she fell in love with me more and strypers music.
"Honestly" is Stryper's best power ballad.
"To Hell with the devil" is Quintessential Stryper song
Amber hit the nail on the head, STRYPER is a Christian heavy metal band they were singing about God 👍😎
Calling on You...yes, calling God
This band enjoyed crossover success with mainstream headbangers at the time DESPITE being a Christian band (metalheads back then wouldn't usually touch a Christian rock band with the proverbial 10-foot pole), but somewhat ironically their popularity took a big nose dive after they released Against the Law, their least Christian album.
Another song off this album that rocks is Free. 🔥🔥🔥 JESUS WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU!!! ✝️✝️✝️
@@supertrexandroidxthey wanted to move away from Christian Rock.
They felt that they were being forced into an image that didn't fit the members, to be held up as role models for Christian youth.
One member smoked another took an occasional drink.
Honestly, the way some people carried on, you'd think that they had announced their conversion to Satanism.
A lot of Stryper songs are some of the heaviest I've heard, yet they are a Christian hair metal band. Amazing group.
I pray that every one knows that Jesus christ died for every ones sins past present and future and when they belive he died for them personaly they will live in HEAVEN 4 EVER with him thats his promise.the book of John chapter 3 verse 16 i know this and my heart is at peace with jesus christ and im not afraid of death i loook 4 word to leaving this very sick world
@@theodoreritola7641 The Bible is just a chaotically cobbled-together anthology of disjointed documents, composed, revised, translated, distorted and 'improved' by hundreds of anonymous authors, editors and copyists, unknown to us and mostly unknown to each other, spanning centuries, it shouldn't be taken serious.
"The Rock That Makes Me Roll" is heavy af!
JESUS IS OUR ONE AND ONLY BLESSED HOPE!!! 🙏🙏🙏
@@ShawnEberlein-eu2lu Jesus was a anti-Roman radical Jewish Man, one of many in that time, not the Son of any God, people back them were very gulible and infantile, scared of storms and didn't understand anything, they believed in Gods, Miracles, Sorcery and Magic, they had not Logic.
Info on the Bible verse - Isaiah 53:5 reads: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." That's how they got the name Stryper. The band’s name stands for “Salvation Through Redemption Yielding Peace, Encouragement, and Righteousness.”
🙏 Amen
AMEN!!! AMEN!!! AND AMEN!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! 🙌🙌🙌
Can't play Stryper without eventually doing "Soldiers Under Command"
I went to 3 of their concerts. Michael Sweet the lead singer has crazy vocal range and the guitarist Oz Fox is so good.
I agree. I like their early stuff the best. A little heavier.
@@Rocker1983
Then you haven't heard anything from them since the 80's. They've been releasing harder and heavier albums since 2005, but particularly since 2013.
@@mikenastasi8927 Your right. The new stuff is heavy. I misspoke. I should have said I think the early 80s albums were heavier than the late 80s and early 90s.
I cant say I've ever cared for that song but "The Rock That Makes Me Roll" is heavy af!
Another song from the Soldiers Under Command album that was great was Waiting for a Love That's Real. ❤️❤️❤️ JESUS IS THE HOLY TRINITY, THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT!!! 👏👏👏
Can't do Stryper without "Honestly" ❤
One of the best monster ballads!
"By His stripes, we are healed..." The biblical quote from which Stryper got their name. If they were able to help salvage even life with their songs of inspiration, then they have truly done a blessed thing.
Lead singer Michael Sweet has an insane vocal range. Honestly is another beautiful slow song. His brother Robert plays the drums. Best Christian rock ever!
Who plays the drums sideways on stage, not facing the front
@@mazlanbasharudin3764that's why they call him the "visual timekeeper".
Michael Sweet actually sang with Boston for a time after Brad Delps passing
These guys are a christian metal band. They used to throw Bible's into the Audience at their shows
Yes, from my hometown in Orange County California they are great
So what qualify's someone as a christian rocker? Just asking. Tossing bibles while giving a concert or just being a christian.
@@fantasycamp4000 that is what they classified themselves as
@fantasycamp4000 A person or persons who uses rock music for Christian expression. Utilizing the atmosphere of a rock concert to express Christian faith
Every show I went to, they had their folks hand Bibles to people.
Michael Sweet kinda sounds like the heavy metal version of Dennis DeYoung of Styx. Not only is Michael Sweet one of the all-time greatest vocalists of any genre, he also seriously shreds on guitar and their latest albums from 2013 up until today are even heavier than their music from the 80s. I still have one of their Bibles that they would throw out to the audience during their "Soldiers Under Command" Tour in 1985. More Stryper! Thank you.
Oh absolutely I always compared his voice to Dennis's
Woot! Finally some Stryper!
Love Stryper!! To Hell With The Devil is an awesome album!!
The best album
First Love was my wife and our song, she passed away 1 year ago with cancer and I still listen to Stryper and makes me smile.
Sorry for your loss.
She lives in your heart, and when you play the music she loved and that you shared together, you celebrate her❣
They are still touring today and sound just as good as they did back in the 80's. Michael still has a killer voice and can hit all the crazy high notes!
The Best Vocal harmonies for a metal group
You could go forever with Stryper from the 80s Always there for you , in god we trust to present with sorry , the valley and god damn evil
"Always There For You" is great - one of my favorites from them! Also like "Free" a lot.
Second vote for "Always There For You" -- great harmonies, as in this song.
I had their song, "Together As One," professionally performed at my wedding in 1989. We had so many compliments, as so many had no idea who "Stryper" was. My teenage son introduced me to them at the time. I love all of their music!! They are a very talented group of guys. They were known as a heavy metal christian band. Another of their great songs is, "Honestly."
The yellow and black attack!!!
I would wear those outfits today!
Love ambers comments and opinions, she has good musical knowledge for not growing up in that era.
The thumbnail is for Kix "Blow My Fuse"!
I saw that too lol wasn’t sure if it was just me
Yeah, I had commented about a Kix song, but then it was Stryper: glitch/switch! 🙄
I thought I clicked on the wrong one. Lol
Awww… I wanted my Kix Fix 😢
@@GriffGruff7088 Looks like you got it. They just uploaded "Blow My Fuse"!
Stryper catches so much undeserved heat, but they are a phenomenal band, and Michael Sweet's vocals are next level.
For an even softer side, their song "Honestly" is beautiful. For a fun side, do "Sing along song."
For a more rocking side, do "More than a Man." 🤘😇
More than a man is awesome!
Stryper does some awesome Power Metal.
Can’t believe you found this song!!
Haven’t heard this song since it was in my car cassette tape in late 1980’s!! Saw them live in Minneapolis mid 1980’s. Put in a good show.
One of favourite guitarist ever, Oz Fox!!!
I remember when this band first aired on M.TV back in 1986 and I knew
a person that would listen to them all the time he was a Christain. he loved Christian Rock
They are definitely singing about God. The Isaiah reference you spotted is the inspiration behind their name and look..."by His stripes we are healed."
God bless!!
So proud of how Stryper was such a huge success in the 80s and still going strong today! PTL!
To Hell With The Devil and In God We Trust are two more examples that show Michael Sweet’s incredible vocal range. 👍🏻
I LOVE Stryper! My 2nd favorite band behind KISS!
Stryper! The ONLY 'religious' music I ever listened to and FULLY enjoyed! I actually bought the cassette and wore it out. The 80s were the best! You should do 'Honestly' by them! We would blast this on MTV after school!
With the exception of Amy Grant and Petra, I'd agree with this.
Saw them in concert. They were the best!!!
Congrats on being the first reactors to do a Stryper video! I was a huge fan for a long time. Mike Sweet also did a stint with Boston after their singer passed away.
Actually No they are not the first to react to Stryper
He has made albums with George Lynch and Tracii Guns. Dude loves to play music.
Dude there's plenty of Stryper reactions on TH-cam
@@tambor76 Surely it must be obvious to you that I could not possibly watch every reactor on TH-cam. This was the first of the many I do watch, however. But thanks for being such a keen (and literal) observer.
Stryper was one of THE Best Christian Bands of the 80's. Check out a band by the name of Petra - "God gave Rock and Roll To You" .
Great choice. I love that song! Although it doen't matter to me if it's the Petra version or Argent's original version or the one by Kiss. They all sound like a unifying sing-along song.
Honestly, In God We Trust, Shining Star, I Believe In You, Always There For You, Soldiers Under Command are all great songs to check out
I saw Stryper in concert in 2018 and they were great. Michael Sweet's voice is fantastic live. They are also one of the loudest bands I've seen live.
Back in the day STRYPER was my very 1st concert where White Lion opened up for them in the In GOD we Trust Tour in 1988 and I saw this band 3 times and each time there were better and made time with meeting there fans as well .
Stryper, my favorite hairband. Thank you for this reaction.
Love their harmonies
Of all the 80´s hard rock bands, Stryper is the one that is actually in best form. Michael sings even better these days, and they are still regularly releasing new albums that are as good or better than their 80´s material. I think they are currently recording another new album. If you want a great Stryper ballad, try with "First love". If you want a banger of their newer material try " Yahweh", one of their best songs.
Christian rock, yes, and also just one of the best Rock bands from the 80s, love their music.
Stryper is amazing!
Here's the thing... Their 80's music was truly great and got me through some isht. But I have to tell you something else.
Their newer stuff is probably even better. Michael Sweet's voice has barely lost anything as far as range but has gained some richness. Try these songs: "Yahweh", "Fallen", "Transgressor" or "Divider"!
P.S. They are still touring and have a stop in Arlington, TX on Sep 28th.
I would argue he has definitely lost range. The high stuff on the new studio recordings have got to be manipulated. If you watch any of the live show videos, he cannot hit those notes anymore. He can still sing and they can still rock, but he is not hitting those notes anymore. That said, he is still good at singing and playing.
I agree. Their new stuff is amazing. Do Unto Others and Transgressor are in my all time top 5 Stryper songs
Incredible band with amazing harmonies. Honestly was their biggest hit and would love to see you do that song in future.
Ah. Stryper. The first Christian Metal Band. They hail from Riverside, CA. My favorite song by them is the title track of their debut album. Soldiers Under Command. Awesome guitars, vocals, and drums. They had absolutely beautiful ballad on their EP released before their first album. It's called First Love. They were HUGE in Japan, but didn't have the success they deserved in the U.S. imo. And yes they do hit those harmonies live. Fun side note. They did release an album that was entirely cover songs. They did some Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, Kansas. Lots of great stuff. Heck, they even managed to rock out the Christmas Carol, Walking In A Winter Wonderland. One of my favorite drummers...Robert Sweet. Nicknamed The VISUAL time keeper.
Saw them in concert back in the 1980s. Awesome band 👍👍
Saw Stryper 2 weekends ago. They are so awesome. Recently, the beginning of last month, the lead singer of Firehouse died and they both mentioned him and sang a Firehouse song in tribute to him. I went to 80's hair band festival held every year in Columbia, MD and of all the performers who were there, Stryper was one of the only bands among 2 others that mentioned and paid tribute to CJ Snare. Stryper sang "All She Wrote." The band that followed was Night Ranger. They chose to pay tribute to him with their song "Goodbye." And finally, Bret Michaels mentioned CJ and provided a heart felt message about him and then performed the Poison song "Something to Believe In." Maybe do some Firehouse soon in memory of CJ?
Michael Sweet’s vocals are amazing…still are after all these decades. And…his brother Robert on the drums is one of the best drummer/showmen of the 80s!!
Stryper is a legendary band with a huge catalog. “Always there for you”, “In God We Trust”, “Transgressor”, “The Valley”, “Sorry”, “Soldiers under Command”, all great choices, the list goes on and on. Huge catalog.
Ah yes, the 'yellow and black attack'...my good friend in high school was big into them, so in art class I made him some jean jacket pins for when he went to the concert. RIP Johnny, I miss you.
Together as one is another powerful ballad from Stryper that will take your breath away ♥️
I was in a church youth group when I first heard of Stryper back in the 80s. Then my childhood friend married the drummer :) She calls herself Mrs. 777 :)
Metal Gospel, there concerts rocked in the 80's. 🤘🤘
Saw them in 1988 at Radio City Music Hall NYC Michael Sweet lead singer and brother is Robert Sweet drummer and they are still rocking today
Michael Sweet is absolutely amazing when it comes to singing. They are still making music to this day and Perry Richardson from Firehouse is their bass player now.
Love it, so melodic yet heavy. What Stryper are best at, probably the best backing vocal harmonies in metal. Very angelic
Always there for you is my favorite Stryper songs ✝️🤟
Stryper, christian, metal band! Michael, sweet, and his brother Robert sweet( drums, ), learned to sing in church! Their vocal melodies, are incomparable, no one does them like stryper! Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson, Anne Wilson, Rob Halford, Karen Carpenter, pat benatar, CJ Snare, and possibly the most underrated , of these 😍 amazing vocalist,: Michael sweet! More styper! What a treat, first slaughter, now stryper! I love my 80s. Rock and metal! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stryper the only 80s metal band that still is putting out great music today. Check out the FINAL BATTLE album
The lead singer, micheal sweet, sang for Boston for a while after their lead singer passed away. Great voice. Stryper is one of those bands that got heavier with age. Their new stuff rocks hard!
Michael Sweet's vocals are so darn great!
The best Christian rock group ever! I grew up with them in the 80s, and they were huge.
Oh yeah - MORE STRYPER!!!!! Check out some of their new stuff too like "The Valley" or "Transgressor"
YEEESSSSSS... she got it. This song is more for the blessings of and for God. But, can also be taken for that significant other in your life. You should react to Transgressor. The highs from Michael Sweet.... WHOOOOAA. And holds it. Fantastic for his age.
Yeah they definitely need to do some newer stryper next.
Always there for You by Stryper is a must!!
This song is from the same album as "To Hell With The Devil", which you've already listened to. If you'd like to hear a ballad from Stryper, check out "Honestly". Some other rocking songs from them include "Soldiers Under Command", "The Way", "Free", "Sing-Along Song", "Rockin' the World", "In God We Trust", and "Always There for You".
Seen a documentary, where Stryper played alot of the same places as other hair metal bands back in the 80's, and befriended alot of those bands, even though they were Christian rock, the other bands respected them for standing up for what they believe in, and their message. They would throw Bibles out to the crowd, instead of albums. They actually got along with most of their peers in the 80's.
Love Stryper.
'honestly' by Stryper was our wedding song
Nice!
Awesome. Stryper is a great band
Listen STRYPER came in under the radar in the 80s and showed who CHRIST was to the world. We serve an awesome GOD!
Love me some Stryper
Robert Sweet (Drummer and Singer's Brother) was among the first to insist on having his kit sideways on stage so the audience can see him.
You have a Kix thumbnail on this Stryper video.
The good news is that they're BOTH songs I've suggested.
"Switchblade Serenade" by Spread Eagle next.
Killer tunes either way. This glitch & switch won't even draw a complaint.
They won’t play them, they don’t read the comments and want you to “donate” in order for your suggestions to be played. Really disappointed in them.
@@jimguy9874 - - I assumed the same thing (because that's how most reaction channels are) until I requested to hell with the devil and within a week it was up. That was the only time I ever requested anything.
@@jimguy9874 - because they do 3 videos a day, they can't just do songs from donations, they have to get some suggestions from comments and other sources.
@@rmcclain124 - They fixed it.
***Always There for You, was a BIG hit for them and is a must!!!***
Saw these guys a couple times and was able to get one of their “Stryper” bibles the first time I saw them.
So many good songs… quality musicians and Michael Sweet’s vocal range is CRAZY!
Next one you should do is their cover of Earth Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star”. Sweet’s vocals in that are insane!
Stryper is still going strong, Michael Sweet’s voice has remained amazing to this day.
YES, Stryper again!!!! Thanks Jay and Amber.
This song really gets you rockin' no matter where you're standing or sitting. So upbeat.
Michael Sweet's voice is amazing! I think it was Amber who once described Steelheart's lead singer Miljenko Matijevic's voice of "Piercing the skies". I love that description and I feel the same way about Michael Sweet's voice. There's just something about it.
Like others have mentioned, Stryper's song "Honestly" is a classic, perhaps their best song in my opinion. Maybe in the future you'll react to it. I can wait. But not too long please, you'll love it :)
I also have a feeling it'll get an Amber-sway going as it's their rock-ballad hit.
Thanks guys.
Great reaction! This song was on Dial MTV daily most requested songs for months. It was very popular in early '87. This one with other hits kept them on the most requested list on MTV for over a year.
YES! Great choice! I saw Stryper on this tour in early 1987 and their harmony vocals sound just like the studio version. Absolutely amazing in concert. Rob Squad, Stryper has a big catalog of hits. Lots more to go. And yes, Stryper is Christian band
Great rocker voice! Great song ❤❤
Singer Robert Sweet has also sang for Boston in the absence of Brad Delp.
Robert is the drummer. Michael is the lead vocalist and yes, I saw Boston live when Michael Sweet was singing with them. That was the first Boston tour in forever where they brought the song Hitch A Ride back (per Michael Sweet’s request).
Saw them twice in concert back in the day, great times. Still putting out amazing music today.
Thank You for covering Stryper. I graduated in 83 and we blasted this back in the day. Still listen to them ! ~* = 8 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Micheal Sweet - the lead singer- And the drummer are brothers !
I am an Old School Stryper fan. I am the son of a Baptist minister here in Oklahoma and he limited the kind of music I could listen to and he allowed me to listen to Stryper. They were literally the first concert I ever went to. I saw them in Tulsa for the In God We Trust Tour. They were my first concert T-shirt too. I just watched a video series of Stryper less than 6 months ago and they still have the chops. Michael Sweet can still hit the high notes! But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:3.
What town in Oklahoma are you from? I'm from ok too. Saw Stryper on their last show in Tulsa at IDL Ballroom in 2018. Killer show. They're one of the few bands from that era that still got it.
@@tambor76 I live outside of Bristow but I’m originally from Sand Springs it’s been a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time since that show I saw. They played the Tulsa State fair way back in the 80s. I listened to Stryper, Novella, Deliverance, Seventh Angel. It’s been so long ago when I see videos of them it takes me back.
@@seandobson6221 - Have you listened to any of their newer music? They're still excellent.
@@tambor76 nah it’s been a long time. I watched that video of them recently and was impressed Michael was still able to hit those high notes.
Isaiah 53:5 not verse 3
I was already a fan but this song really made me dig them back in the day! I still see them in concert often.
Another 80s request would be Journey- Stone in Love, Slade- Run Run Away, Outfield- Say it isn’t So, Asia- Don’t Cry, Cars- Hello Again , Van Halen- Finish what you Started, Power Station- Murderess, Kool and the Gang- Victory
Definitely some good suggestions in there
Stryper just rocks!!!!saw them live a few years back & they blew me away at how heavy & anthemic they are 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
They have a few awesome rock ballads! ‘Honestly’, ‘ l’ll Be There For You’, and ‘I Believe in You’ my favorite songs by them!!❤❤❤
Love your guys’ reactions!❤❤
More Than A Man is a great Stryper banger with a great believer message!! They don’t get the musical recognition they deserve! Thanks for doing this song!! 🎸🎸
Growing up in the 80's to now..Stryper has always and will be my number one band!! Michael Sweet (lead singer) is like no other!!.. keep up the great reactions 👍
Calling on You is a Christian song that can also works as a love song, but is mainly about calling on God who makes our life complete and helps us through all our life trials.
Huge hit for this band!
Stryper was an inspiration to so many Christian rock bands! I was best friends with DJ and Lance from Living Sacrifice and we listened to them so much when we were kids before LS. That set them on their way!
Grew up as a kid with them. Saw them 13 times live. Sound awesome and still rocking.
I used to play guitar to this album end to end. Saw them in concert front row at Radio City music hall! It was an amazing show
I got this cassette in my Easter basket in like 1987, lol. Stryper was my first concert. 😊
FIRST LOVE brings out some powerful harmonies. FREE is a must here also
Now you guys are really taking me back in time! Love Stryper! Played their song Honestly at our wedding back in 1990! Yes,they can rick out,and shred on their instruments, and yes they were boldly proclaiming their trust and belief in God! If you want to dip into some really cool Contemporary Christian music, may I suggest Crowder! The song and video called,Run devil,Run! is super cool!
Seen them in concert a few times, awesome show they put on, Rock the house, good review from you guys 👌😎🤘🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁
They are an under-rated metal band from the 80s. I hate to use the term "hair metal" as NO ONE called this music hair metal back then. It was just METAL.
Divider by Stryper is one of their current songs and worth a reaction! love you guys and the pureness of your hearts! Keep going….
