The Ramayana composed by Great Sage Valmiki is original and Mahabharata written by great sage Vedavyas is original. Similarly Srimad Bhagwatam written by Vedavyas is original. Mythology is ancient history and for most of the important events, sufficient proof is there even today. Many of the 18 puranas are tampered and distorted and they contradict each other on some events. Because of tampered versions, many half knowledged scholars doubt the authenticity of great epics.
