It would be the same outcome If you're on 1 HP, you can't get hit, otherwise you'd die. Beating the boss without getting hit is just like with 1 HP; if you DO get hit, you have to start over. It's the same thing. And, if you have 1 HP you already took some hits which isn't as impressive, assuming we aren't starting at 1 HP.

@@gleen9843 he's the easiest to S rank specifically. While bullet hell incarnate, he doesn't have many random patterns so once you know how to move it's easy to beat. Cala Maria was the hardest S rank for me, especially pre patch due to just how random her attack are. You could straight up not even get 2 parry chances in the whole fight and her random patterns can ruin your otherwise perfect run. Honestly cala maria is my least favourite boss due to how rng her fight is.

Al contrario, ya que eso de hecho lo hace mas fácil, en las versiones actuales ese parry ya no cuenta y ahora se tiene que conseguir los tres parrys es en la fase final con todos los proyectiles lo cual es lo que dificulta en rango S, pero eso no le quita el merito de haberlo conseguido en las versiones tan tempranas.

If you're reading this after the dlc is out and ur trying to beat Dr kahl expert I personally recommend using the parry ring, you can easily 5hp from the lazer things without the -10% damage from the twin hearts, also for the bullet hell, try to move up down and side to side but don't go diagonal
Just got S rank no hit. My strat for this boss is really good. So first switch to bombs then shoot in between the middle and bottom damage points and it damages both at the same time. Usually I can break both points before he shoots the laser the first time but it depends on how many galaga ships are left. You can bait the laser to the back and quickly fly to the front to do damage. Then for the laser fly up to it as often as you can and use bombs for damage. Once the skull bombs are close just fly away and quickly one-shot them with the bombs then fly back to the laser when it’s safe. For the heart it honestly comes down to luck and skill at dodging everything. Definitely use miniship very often to avoid everything and use bombs to damage the heart constantly holding the button. Then for the short phase use bombs to hit the head at least once each time he flies back and forth then duck out the way. Miniship is also very helpful for this part in dodging everything and bombs one shot the skullbombs so definitely use that to clear them out. It shouldn’t take many bombs to kill the head. Final phase in my opinion is the hardest part but it’s very easy to stack up on supers. Up to now you could save up to a max super or use the supers earlier on the heart. While Kahl is preparing for final phase you can get a few bomb shots on him and use the super before he starts attacking. Then fly far back and do your best to dodge everything and go for every parry possible. I recommend using miniship most of the time bc the normal ship can barely fit between the lasers at some parts. Just stack up on supers until you have max and then wait for him to stop shooting and pop the super. Then rinse and repeat until he’s dead. It should take around 3 max supers and a few small nukes. But it can be finished much quicker if you can shoot him with normal bullets while he’s attacking. This only took an hour or two from my first attempt so it shouldn’t be too difficult. My time was 2:07 so it wasn’t great but enough for S rank. Using supers on the heart is probably a better choice instead of saving it for final phase but your choice. Hopefully these tips help people get S rank. Feel free to ask any questions.
Idk if it’s just me but after the first time I beat him, I never struggled with Dr. Kahl’s robot after that, he’s one of my favorite bosses in Cuphead since he’s an endurance test “how long can you last before you get hit?” I have an s rank on every boss in this game and Dr. Kahl’s Robot was my favorite to s rank
Doing an expert run and of all bosses I managed to get an S rank by accident on this one. Had twin hearts and only got hit twice on the last phase. I think the trick to beating it in time is using the controlled bomb on phase 2, otherwise it takes forever blasting the bombs and chasing the head around for pea shooter damage.
After 2 days diying to this monster, got at first try after see your tatic. Leave chest to kill last. Bomb his head just after launch and go to robotinics with full health. Thx u

Thanks for your video. One question (I cannot figure it out): the BIG BOMB (the one that request 5 cards) does the same amount of damage if you direct hit your target or not or you have to specifically hit the target to guarantee the max amount of damage?

It's been a few years so I don't remember exactly, but IIRC as long as you end up with at least 3HP left you can get S-rank, meaning you can actually take damage (even twice) if you're using the +2HP charm.
I was desperate for pointers and I was taking out the first phase bottom to top but I didn't consider keeping middle the longest for the cards, still gonna be one of the toughest fights though.
I hope whoever designed this level had a permanent warm pillow

Without getting hit because at that point you have been hit 2, 3 or 4 times to get there.

This has to have been patched, his laser beam and 2nd phase were destroyed too quickly.
Expert mode makes them have less health, but adding tons of health to the third phase

Got the S Rank yesterday and I was exhausted after that. It took me 8 hours to do it…but boy does it feel rewarding when you do get it.

Just got S rank no hit. My strat for this boss is really good. So first switch to bombs then shoot in between the middle and bottom damage points and it damages both at the same time. Dr. Kahl should be pretty easy if you’re careful on the bullet hell and aggressively using your supers.

yea they are different, the blue one goes in like a counter clockwise spiral, and the red one is just a bullet hell similar to wally warbles’
