On a shore excusion my husband & I were in line to board the gondolas in Venice. The staff had us step aside & ushered others ahead of us. Just as my husband was about to complain, a very ornate gondola for 2 with a musician on board and the guard rope was removed & we were escorted on - it was our 50th Anniversary and Holland Am had arranged this as a surprise for us!

Or dead. The slot channels are doing more for cruising than these tulip channels are. Someone like Brian Christopher can get 200 rooms full on a cruise. Both have a place though. I liked it better when they were reviewing ships and ports. Reading news off the AP "wire" and giving dumb comments gets pretty dull pretty quick.

There’s a couple instances I can justify cutting or skipping part of the line. In the buffet there’s usually a salad bar section before the rest of the food, if the people in front of me stop at the salad bar, I’ll skip by them. And if there’s no clearly marked queue line and the people in front of me are dragging their feet for whatever reason and there’s a big gap behind the people in front of them, I’ll go around.

I remember when I was coming back from a shore excursion and there was a huge line. I got in line and I was starting to struggle a bit because I'm disabled but I dont frequently avail myself of disability services because in my mind there are people far worse off than me who can really use those services. I did see some benches about halfway through the line though. So what I did, I told the person behind me in the line that I was heading to the benches and would rejoin the line, I went to the benches, let the people in the line know I wasnt cutting in the line and that I just was going to sit on the bench, and then when the line came around to my spot, I rejoined the line. Just a little communication with your fellow travellers can really make the line experience better. Yes its likely hot, yes people are likely tired and cranky. But if you need a hand, your fellow travellers are usually very kind and accomodating if you're kind and dont try to cut the line.

Because if so, I’m just eating in the dining room which I want to do that anyways because I don’t like the way they stack the dishes where you have to reach over one thing to the other thing and I’ve heard people use their hands and I don’t really want to get Off the ship for cussing somebody out at breakfast

please dont judge me on my comment everyone... i do Always wait in line at the buffet, as i should, but it does irk me that if there is a long line up and people are at the first or second lot of food, why we have to stand behind them to wait rather than walk up to the 4th section of food, where the food is that i want to eat and has no one standing there. yes technically its pushing in line, but if im not wanting anything down the start of the buffet and everyone else is, then whats the harm in going ahead to where no one is to grab what i want. as i said i dont do that, i wait behind everyone else, but it does annoy me a bit. especially as i suffer so so much pain, and standing there im in utter agony and at times i have to leave the line and come back later as my pain is so unbearable

There was usually a line for the hamburgers. The fries were placed right after the hamburgers. There was a passenger that got angry at him for having the nerve for getting fries. He did not take any hamburgers, nor did he impede the line to get the fries. He did not even take all the fries in the bin that they were in. This passenger felt that he should wait for everyone in the line for the hamburgers to clear so he could get the fries that he wanted. Please understand that just because you are in line for a specific item in a buffet. Does not mean that you do not own all the food on the bar.

I'm usually in group D, so I wait till the line has less than 10 ppl before I get up and finally get in line. (Mind you, I'm checked in.) Every time I get on the plane and find my seat amongst a fully booked flight, there is always someone in my seat. I stand there, I never say a word, I will stare at the entitled B in my seat. They look at me and always say, "Is this your seat? I didn’t think you were gonna show, so I took your seat cause I wanna sit next to my fiance, spouse, bf, whatever... you wanna switch seats?" No. Get up, before I call the flight attendants. They get snarly, I raise my hand and call upon these arch angels and ask them to guide me to my seat. They confirm the entitled B is in my spot and the fight that ensues half the time. They'll treat you like you're the jerk. They get up, all huffy. I sit down and put in my headphones and block everybody out.
Moral of the story: Don't cut in line, sit in your assigned seat, and don't be a jerk. Its bad enough I never have a spot to put my overhead bags, but these passengers are entitled af. It makes me appreciate camping/hiking, to get away from these nutbags.

I once had to ask some crew members in uniform to please not talk during the show in BB King’s. We had already moved three times to get away from the babblers. When you go to something that is, first and foremost, meant to be LISTENED to, why talk through it? There are so many places you can go and talk. Why choose that place? When the table of crew members started I ready to set my hair on fire. My husband and I are quiet people. We don’t want everyone to hear what we are saying. And they don’t want to hear it. Loud talkers are probably the people who annoy me the most.

I was hanging out in the atrium watching staff bring groups of passengers down (I had a late train time so was wasting time!) from their designated waiting areas. In fact i saw one group determined to go to the back of the main line even though the staff member was trying to at that point form 2 queues!! It may just be how the cruise line managaged it. Definitely agree Don. However, i would really like to see the cruise lines put some effort in clearly defining lines and some sort of organization within the buffets. Too many times it is so incredibly chaotic people might not even be aware of where a line starts. If there is a huge line surrounded by other peope and a dish on the buffet no one is scooping from yet two dishes before is where the line is held up, i can see how people can think it is fine to just grab what they need there. Again, there never seems to be a defined line or organization in the buffets.

I am 80 years old, traveling alone and appreciate a table near the entrance since my COPD makes it difficult for me to walk very far without panting. In addition, I am on the same Carnival ship out of New Orleans on a very regular basis, always on a back2back or a back2back2back; the maitre d’ is kind enough to give me the same table for breakfast and dinner for my 14 or 21 days.
The long-winded account above is my way of saying I am treated differently, do not have to wait in line to be escorted to my table and may be perceived by other passengers as someone who feels “entitled”. I don’t feel entitled; I feel very grateful for the consideration given to me.
