Whitlock is spot on. It would be different if 50 percent women were coaching men's basketball. That's not to say male coaches shouldn't coach women but let's be real.
To Jason Whitlock: You have a really valid point about the percentage of women's college basketball female coaches dropping over the years. I could not find the amount of women's basketball teams that existed in 1977 but there are currently 349 based on the NCAA website. This number is almost certainly higher than the teams that existed in 1977. What comes to my mind is that women's basketball was still new since Title IX came into existence in 1972 and that may have been a catalyst for women coaches back then. 1) If there were a smaller amount of teams back then, that is probably why the percentage is higher. 2) Qualifications come into play and MAYBE there are currently more men interested/qualified to coach basketball. 3) To your point, there seems to be low interest for women to be coaches and Title IX is not being taken advantage of.
