The only problem with the SH4 soundtrack is that most of the songs didn't appear in the game at all, and almost all the time the game is without music. Your Rain and Waiting for you for example are not used at all and only appear in the ost cd.

I agree. And Silent Hill's controls weren't awful at all. Just a different way of controlling your character. It works. It doesn't make it fact that controls suck if you suck at them yourself. I grew up on Resident Evil 1 and 2. Yet those are some of the best classics. It's pretty much like saying Contra, Castlevania or Megaman sucks. All three play differently, yet they are all so damn good.

That muddy bass line in the background really helps to create a heavy atmosphere of melancholy.
I could listen to these riffs all night long. If there's one thing Yamaoka does superbly well, that's melancholy.
