  • In December 2007, 619 people were made redundant at the Indesit Company (Creda) and all the business went to Poland. Bill Webster did a great job of editing this film.

Back in the late 1960's Staffordshire Gliding Club used to hold its monthly meetings in the Creda Factory Social Club.
This Factory produced aircraft during WW2 and flew them off Meir Aerodrome next door.
Our Gliding Club was based here from 1962 to 1972 before we had to move to our new site at Morridge near Leek.

It's such a shame so many good workplaces in Stoke-on-Trent like Creda were shut down or relocated.
I ended up in so many places like South Wales, Manchester, Yorkshire, Bristol and East Anglia where the same loss of companies and jobs has had a devastating effect on communities.

@@davidpoole1531 So I was always led to believe they were named Harry and Lizzie Mountford. I have a picture of the dog in circa 1970. They chose the name but I understand it had to be Creda or Simplex.

Hi David. A lovely video showing a once great UK domestic appliance manufacturer, its factory, its products and its people. Such a shame that it has gone and the factory now lies empty. Do you know if anyone has preserved an archive history of Creda and its products at all? Essentially someone who managed to either save from the skip, or accumulate over the years, brochures and the like (I note that someone somewhere - maybe you? - has saved all the newspaper cuttings, to be able to create the video). Being part of a group who maintain and preserve vintage appliances, Creda is a part of our interest and it would be great to learn more, if the information is out there. Apologies for the waffle. Paul

I could ask on the Facebook page called CREDA! GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN! R.I.P or perhaps you could become a member and ask yourself.
