For all aspiring high level basketball players… Basketball is not about having a “deep bag”

  • Asian basketball player is frustrated about the amount of people on the internet talking about players having a "bag," and criticizing players that don't, when that's not even close to the most important thing in basketball. He shows how he thinks the game, and what abilities you really need to reach the top.
How to become a great basketball player. Basketball IQ. How nba players think. What coaches want from basketball players. Basketball moves.

You have a very good understanding of the topic you spoke on. I'll follow your journey.
The deepest bag you will ever have is how you read the game. Athleticism and Height is a great plus but your ability to ready the defense or offense so that you can be one step ahead will be your biggest advantage. You have to be like the pipe piper or the guy controlling the puppet on a string. Your biggest threat is not the guy in front of you but ever other player. Especially the one that you can't see. Understand movements and how to read them as to what they mean. And most of all broaden your vision. Learning to play the game within the game.
    Physically
    How to use your weight.
    How to use your breath
How to use your opponents weight and height to your advantage
How to use your speed fast and slow to your advantage.
When to make contact and pull away.
How to play at your own pace which should be a pace that's contrary to the pace of your opponents
How to use everyone on the court to make space and to protect yourself.
The guy that wins is the guy that works the hardest and knows what to do and when to do it. 80% intelligence and 20% athleticism beats 100% of only one of them any day. You've got to play the game in your mind because that's where you will get the most reps in.
That's what will slow the game down for you because the subconscious will automatically control the basics so you can see and do so much more.
All the best! I'm rooting for you

I loved this comment man, very interesting points. There’s definitely a lot to the game and players that play their whole life and take it seriously definitely know how to play and react to everything, as long as they’re a student of the game and learn. I don’t want this video to take away from how important basketball iq and fundamental skills are. Players that have amazing skills and iq, that don’t get to that next level where everyone is so long and athletic, I just wanted to explain that the physical and athletic component to the game cannot be overlooked.

It's not about Stat Padding either,
Lowering the head , and charging like a football player to the rim,
Staying on the court during garbage time , when the game is lost
nor resting and avoiding tough games while eagerly playing vs 13-15th seeds.

Staying on the court when the game is lost? Is basketball not about 21-point 4th quarter comebacks then?
It irks me that people complain about him "stat padding" when his team's losing and he's trying, but when his team's losing and he's not trying, he's a "quitter", right? Make up your minds.
It's the coach's job to bench him at the end of a game anyway.

@@BlueGrovyle the only thing that he has is his meaningless records obtained on losses.
Put any top 10 SF ( Tatum , Butler , Markannen , Rui , Banchero etc )in the NBA RN and they would perform better than that , with the roster the lakers have.

@@DylanElo wow, any of today's superstars in their prime would outperform the oldest player in the NBA, you say? Truly, an inspiring take.
