- Boat ramp Chit Show at BlackPoint Marina was on another level today. We arrived and immediately we see a SeaDoo being towed in. It created a pile up at the boat ramp.
The show is living up to its name.

I worked for a marine service company on the great lakes for years and I can confirm that this stuff goes on constantly. People freak out at the last minute and lose it all the time and then it's a chit show. I've seen it all - fires, crashes, sinking, people overboard - it never stops. Kudos for the content Alfred.

People have never heard of towing 'on the hip' like the Tow Boat was doing. So much more control in a confined & congested area. Towed a 32' single IB, with a jammed rudder, using a 14' skiff with a 50hp. Stern towed using a bridle out in the open water. Transferred to on the hip just outside of the congested mooring field area.
Doug, I'm a Disabled Vet, but was in the USCG back in the early seventies and with all our rescues, we hip-towed quite often.

The Chit Show earned its name today. The funny irony was the SeaDoo, after it finally tied up (the next day) its captain (with a lowercase 'c') was giving you the bird. As if he had been the Hot Tamale or a real Captain, que Chit Show. I'm going to have to drive down again to see this in person. Alfredito Jose, I'll hang with you and bring a cortadito and medianoche from Party Central.

I have seen a lot of funny chit on your show!!! Philadelphia in the house!!!!!
First of all a lot of the boats skipper are point and go, they have little skill in driving or managing their own boats. They launch and go sit on the sand bar maybe have a few beers, or just blat around stirring up wakes. What they should be doing is getting used to their machine, controlling it slowly, using the engine to steer and stop and go, all boats are different from another make or model so get familiar with her. The most important item is the pre launch check, enough fuel on board, drain plug in, lines and fenders in good order etc. etc. New crew members need to be taught VHF radio and basic boat controls, skippers have been known to fall in the drink.
But what is good to see is the helping hand for another boater, tow on a long line at sea then bring the casualty along side to control the two boats as one. Learn to balance where you raft the second boat so you have control of it with your engine/steering. TimBatsea a New Tug captain explains this in his videos, check him out.
When I had my boat I paid for Sea Tow for 4 years. I never had to call them but the piece of mind was worth EVERY PENNY

Love your show. Black point has been a chit show for decades. Most boaters have busted their asses and gone in the drink on their poorly maintained ramps. I know I did way back when at 1130 in the evening.
Do they have any lights for night time use ?
Will you ever drive a boat and film? Maybe show what it looks like where all the boats are coming from.
