This is what straight edge should be. You're not a slave to your addictions. You're not a slave to depression. Nowadays it's all about fashion and acting tough in front of your scene. For me, being sober was always about staying myself and about fighting my problems, my struggles in life. I don't have to prove anything to anyone except of myself. Born this way. Die this way.
Pretty damn digging your comment. Been edge and sober for almost half a year now to fight depression. its way better to fight against it with ur mind and ur believes instead of wanting to drink it away. best regards
+Chris Chrisson It's great to hear that. Stay strong, stay positive and most of all, stay free. Being sober is a personal decision. Don't let any scene or lifestyle dictate your life. Do whatever your heart tells you to do. Even though I'm sober for almost 6 years now, I don't consider straight edge to be a lifetime decision. I do this as long as I want to. There are way too many people out there who try to make straight edge a social thing. It isn't. You're sober because your mind told you that this is the best way to fight your problems.Don't let anyone take away your strongest weapon. And when you reach the point in your life in which you think that drinking is okay, it is. As long as you're armed with a mind.
Live, Love, Learn, You are not a slave to your addictions, You are not a slave to your depression!!! - This exact quote and song got me, and is as I type this getting me through my heroin addiction!!!!
2:46 gets me every time. If you don’t know, the guy with the blonde hair and the hat is the vocalist from In My Eyes, a band Pat said in an interview got him into hardcore. Imagine the guy that got you into music screaming your lyric back to you with his arm around your shoulder. Legendary shit right there.
Army veteran here, this past years has been tragic. I've lost 3 of my friends to suicide that served in my own Troop. 21 veterans take their lives everyday. "You are not a slave to your addictions, you are not a slave to you depression." Once again Have Heart is carrying me through the lowest of lows. Please seek help if you are considering harming yourself. There are people who are out there that love you and care for you.
I'm also a vet and have battled some kind of monstrous mental health issues. I've been told it's everything from PTSD to bipolar or mania, depression to self delusional. I think what has saved me personally from going over the deep end completely is I refuse to ever take any of the medications they will offer for mental health. I will talk to therapist anytime but for me personally I just refuse all metal health medications or start . Happy 4 th of July .
I was at this show and you have no idea what this song means to me. I've been in and out of opiate addiction for over 10 years now. I relapsed after 2 years clean around a year ago. Today I'm 2 weeks clean off fentanyl cold turkey. Have heart, judge and bane have helped me thru this more then anything. And on the other side of all this is the love of a women that junkie me dosent deserve but sober me sure as hell can be the man she does. Finally I'm rising again this time for the last time, I will not fall again
This was the first band I got into when I was 14-15ish, and now I'm 30, and it still feels exactly the same it did the first time. But now being older I can grasp how powerful have heart where, to have a few hundred people screaming your song word for word with no mic, all for the same message, what a world. Hardcore never dies.
The fact that everyone in this room helped singing the song is amazing. Its like one big chant that is always present in the background. Man everyone who was there did a really good job. You were alive, you had message and it got fucking delivered!
i spent my youth in the original hardcore scene, this is really a good sign for the future i think-- take the energy as far as it will go because its going to stay in you even when youre 60 trust me mosh on
That's the spirit!! the full energy! It's what music is, people in union sharing their feelings and forgetting past and problems. I discover this band today and it's amazing.
5 months out of the streets and off drugs. Just be became drug free off the liquid handcuffs /methadone today. Feel like shit. But I felt this song is appropriate for my ride. 👊👍
I cry everytime I hear him say ‘you are not a slave to your depression’
It hits home every single time
Me too dude me too

I drink way more than I should. This music hasn't saved me, but it's helped.
Jens Georg i've been sober my whole life. i've watched family and friends fall to addiction. 19 years strong my man!
