Excellent and thorough advice. You really do make good videos and more poignantly, your videos are always the voice of experience and/or well thought out rationale. Da iawn!
And it still looks immaculate so credit to you 👍 We too purchased a secondhand c'van . Ours was a barely used Freedom caravan. It made so much ££ financial sense. We actually went to the dealers in Stafford and didn't buy privately. Thankfully the dealer experience was excellent 10/10 😄
Congratulations. The freedom Caravan is a small caravan is that right? I hope you have many great adventures ahead. Thanks for your feedback on my caravan. It is my pride and joy so I keep it spotless all the time. Prior to filming this video, I had towed the caravan to the site through icy and gritted roads so it was very dirty which didn’t do my OCD any good😅
Great video and things I had not thought of coming from a motorhome. Where did you get the information about it changing to full GPR after 2020? I can't find this anywhere online.
When we bought the Basecamp I had no idea what to look for being our first caravan so didn’t do a wheel check. However I would not allow a single week past 12 months from the last service as the warranty can be compromised or even worse invalidated.
Thank you so much for the in depth walkthrough and advice. I have a question, am going to view a used Basecamp 2 (2023), but the private seller says he doesn't want to do a test drive as it is difficult to get out of his drive. He has a motor mover so I'm unsure if I should view it, or not.
You want to be absolutely sure the caravan is road worthy first. You could offer that he tows it and you sit in his passenger seat. It’s a new van so there should be no issues on the road. Good luck.
@@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales Thanks for the quick reply. I thought that would be sensible, me as a passenger, but despite having a motor mover, he says it's difficult to get out of the drive.
@@NO-ahr-jee-BAHR-jee it is sounding unusual that the seller doesn’t want to make the effort in order to sell the van. If it’s putting questions in your mind, move onto the next one. I think the 2023 models have the stabiliser on them? If so, maybe the seller is trying to hide something with that as an example.
Hi - great video, I thought all Basecamp models were completely timberless? SMART construction came in for swift around 2015? Be good to know for certain as I cant seem to find this information on the web?
Yes you can and it’s a valid point you make. I’m just saying in the vlog for me it’s a walk away. This is because of the delay in parts, availability/location of dealers to do the work and over arching all of that would be my suspicion on how the caravan has been looked after. Therefore I would just move on to the next one.

Very useful information thank you 😊
Thanks for this important walkthrough

Another good informative Vlog Nick. 👍🏻
Some great advice and another great video mate 👍
Great vlog, good advice…. Just need to buy one now….. oh and a drone😎
Thinking of buying a Basecamp 2, love your videos. I learn so much from them. If you are selling please contact.
Thank you😊. I will never be selling it… we enjoy it to much.

Here you go. It’s all detailed in this article:-

Lots of good stuff. Did you do a wheel / bearing / check? What would be a time frame from the last service you would accept?
When we bought the Basecamp I had no idea what to look for being our first caravan so didn’t do a wheel check. However I would not allow a single week past 12 months from the last service as the warranty can be compromised or even worse invalidated.
Would you consider doing a video on the pros and cons / likes and dislikes on your Basecamp ?
That’s a good idea. I’ll give that some thought. Thanks for your comment😎

Hi nick, brilliant review , ill know what to look for. Can i ask do you have a caravan cover for it over the winter?
Thanks Ian. No I don’t use a cover in the winter as I use the Basecamp all year round.

Yes and no. Timber in the floor of all models except 2020 and 2021 years if I remember correctly.
why is a damaged solar panel an immediate walk away ????? surely you can replace it??

You have a 2021 or 2022 model with the newer swift command unit ?
It’s a 2020 special edition model. It does have the Swift command panel installed.
