@joelwood enjoying the cruise vlogs. Glad you were able to visit my birth country, Barbados. Yes it is Barbadian or Bajan. Please do not let the pricing of the hotel visit at one of the MOST EXPENSIVE HOTELS on the island deter you from visiting again. There are more reasonably priced hotel properties and Air BNBs that are available, other than Sandy Lane. Also, beach front or close to beaches. Sorry you did not get to experience more of the local culture, entertainment and food. Maybe on your next visit. 😊

I was thinking how cool it was that you knew the names of so many plants and how much enjoyment and appreciation that brings into your life. If that's what it means to get old, then I say bring it on. I appreciate so many things SO much more now, especially about the natural world, as I get older. Every experience is richer and means more. Childhood was pleasant but lived largely in oblivion when I look back at it now.
I agree - ageing doesn't seem so bad!! haha! Funny how your interests start to change as you get older!

Went to Barbados about 30-40 years ago and absolutely fell in love with the people, the relaxed atmosphere, the scenery, and the food (Still remember the fried flying fish, the breadfruit dishes, and the peas. Yum!) Had forgotten about how the birds would join you at your table. Ha! Was lucky to spend New Year's Eve celebrating at the old Sam Lords Castle hotel. It was truly one of those "trips of a lifetime". Thank you for refreshing those marvelous memories.
The water was so clear and blue and the beaches looked so clean and amazingly not crowded. I really enjoyed watching your trip vlogs. So relaxing and lovely. You should purchase some of the plants you saw on your voyage for your home. That way you can think of your trip every time you water them!
I love that idea! I might try to find some of them. Whether or not they'd thrive in our home is another matter though haha!

About 15yrs ago I worked for barclays business banking and had a customer call who was saying they were working on the set for pirates pf the Caribbean and not long after I had another person who was also at the same place as an extra, I was buzzing, I was like Woooow! 😲😂 Lmao I'm proper unsociable too & the bf talks to anyone, I enjoy my own company putting up with the bf is enough for me 😅

Love the video Joel and loving the travel vlogs so far. I have been waiting for this video all morning, specifically for the Barbados portion, as I am a proud Bajan. So Anthony is correct with regards to the terms Barbadian (official) and Bajan (informal), both are accepted. I wish you guys were able to see more of the island, we have so much more to offer and there is so much more to see and do. Sandy Lane is the highest of high hotels here, all the celebs go there, I guess that's why you all went LOL. Please do come back again, wishing you guys the best.

Yay! I've really enjoyed these and found myself wanting to go on a virgin cruise now. I used to work for a different cruise line that was more fancy and geared towards older people, but this ship feels more young and fun and that feels more for me.

Someday you'll have to travel to Hawaii. Talk about BLACK sand beaches!! And actual Jurassic Park! Kauloa Ranch on Oahu was a blast!! So many movies and TV shows were filmed there. Take the kids!! They'd love it!

Joel, you do a brilliant job of creating travel vlogs. I've so enjoyed this series of cruise vlogs. You include all the things I'm most interested in. Like you, I'm an INFJ introvert, and I find making small talk with strangers so arduous. It's like real work to do so.

When we got older we decided that we mostly liked all inclusive four and five star resorts in the caribbean. You seem to really like that beautiful Resort that you were at. You can go through Apple vacations in England, and go on a vacation with everything included for like $1,500 a person for an entire week. These resorts in Punta Cana look exactly like that Resort you were just at in this video, they all have those beautiful pools and gorgeous Gardens with tropical foliage, and each Resort has 5 to 10 restaurants all you can eat everything is included, including the alcohol and drinks. The beautiful weather in the gorgeous beaches. ❤ you can fly directly from England to Punta Cana or you can fly to Orlando and do three or four days or a week at a five star resort in Punta Cana. A flight from Orlando to Punta Cana is like an hour and a half that is all.
Like I said these resorts in Punta Cana are approximately $1,500 per person for the entire week not a night but for a whole week is only $1,500

The regular sand in Puerto Rico gets as hot in certain temps. 😂

4:21 I especially like the video that either Rhianna or Beyoncé did called “Halo” where it included footage of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns - on one of these cruises, I’d love to visit the Churches and Convents in the area, even better if I was able to attend Sunday Mass while in Port, as back home in Ireland, two long time friends of our family are enclosed Poor Clare Nuns, so when I go home, I visit them in their convent in Dublin ❤

Joel, the vlogs were great! Seems like you all had a great vacation and for the most part you had great weather. I remember only one rainy time and that wasn't for a whole day. I was particularly impressed with Barbados. It seemed bigger and busier than I had envisioned. What stop did you all like the best? How does it feel to be back in Yorkshire?

I think we all loved Antigua and Barbados most, but that's probably due to the lovely beach clubs we went to. I'm sure the other islands also have lovely places that we didn't see! Glad to be home now, but already missing the sun (even though I love winter!)
You made a good choice in Barbados. We went on a 3 hour tour and about 2 hours was looking at sugar cane fields. There’s not a lot to see away from Bridgetown!

It was so great and so unexpected! We had no idea what we were doing that day but it all worked out!
I went to some of these island and my eyes got sunburned from the water and sand. It was very painful, it felt like there was grit in my eyes!! Never did that again!! Sunglasses are a must

haha, nothing dramatic. Just spend half the day in a taxi and nothing worked out.
What happened in St Lucia? I was at a Sandals there 25 years ago and even then it was suggested you do not leave the resort.
Just nothing went to plan. We ended up going to Sandals to get a day pass, but asked for a refund and left as it was so busy and not at all relaxing.

The reason Barbados is more "flat" is that it is not volcanic in origin compared to the more hilly islands that you have visited on your cruise. It is outside of the Caribbean volcanic arc - mostly a coral reef structure - more or less. It is a beautiful island along with the others on your trip. I always get a hoot over British tourists getting hot in warm places. Glad you all had a good time. 🏭🏭🏭🏭🏭🏭

Just nothing went to plan - we spent half the day in a taxi trying to get into two different beach clubs! So we headed back to the ship and just spent it relaxing!
I thought every British person had holidayed in the Canary Islands - there is black sand there as well.
I've never been! haha!
