    I get that if he's a regular they need to keep him in their good books, but to invite him back in and allow him to continuously interrupt is ridiculous. What an awful venue.

    • @DozIT
      @DozIT 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The seemed clear to state the they may not have noticed him at the start of the show. As if you’ve ever been to a show it is typically pretty busy at the start of a set, ie. late arrivers, food orders and drink orders, the crowd starting to realize they need to stop focusing on their groups and on the show, etc.

    • @jinxshaddix
      @jinxshaddix 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      A local place had a similar.. regular. Its a tough spot to be in. Drunkard may regard the venue as a home/family cuz he has nothing else.

      @@DozITright, but they kicked him out before the show let him back in at the start, kicked him out again, only to let him back in again. There's confusion and there is willful ignorance. The second let in was also completely unnecessary. He JUST got 75 dollars back from the alleged 3 Tickets he bought. Cover the Tab with that money before sending him away, or if he is a regular, charge him the next time he comes in.

      "You dropped your pocket" is often found in the wild with its close cousins, "You dropped your eye," and "Your socks are untied." Very popular with enlisted members of the US military. See also Chemlight batteries, boxes of grid squares, and rolls of flight line.

      Actually, Steve and Brett had a lot of positive things to say about the crowd itself (minus, of course, the cap'n & his first mate). Their criticism went towards the crew operating that venue on that night, rather than the crowd or Mobile per se, at least as far as I can see it. I think they were having a pretty balanced and differentiated retrospection of the things that transpired. Anyway... Btw, also a new Hofstetter fan, although I only became aware of him very recently (took you a while - but still, ... this time you did well, algo)...

    The more I was watching, the more I was thinking what a rubbish venue this is. How bad is their business, they depend on this 1 guy who likes to cause a scene? He buys more alcohol than the rest of the audience?
    At least they apologized at the end, so that’s still something. But really steve, I have no idea how you didn’t lose your cool. I would have been furious at the staff.

    • @philipisley8348
      @philipisley8348 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      619WWEFAN Agreed. That was also my thought. It seems like that particular venue needs to have a better protocol on addressing hecklers/drunk-&-disorderly patrons, even if they happen to be regulars like this guy apparently was.

    • @619WWEFAN
      @619WWEFAN 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Exactely Philip. If a guy went to the same cinema like 3 times a week, even the cinema wasn’t a very popular place, other customers would be furious if that 1 person kept yelling and screaming throughout the movie. Same here.
      I actually wonder, if this venue has a bad reputation for maintaining such behaviour.

    • @Diamond_Hammer
      @Diamond_Hammer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If he is such a regular, then them telling him "you can settle up next time you're in" even if he doesn't, would have been better than allowing him to make another scene, if he doesn't settle it the next time he's in, then what? you lose x bucks, but a room full of patrons at least got to enjoy a show and there isn't the threat of much greater escalation..

    I sing and play harmonica. I was playing an open mic once. I've got this song where I am talking about racing cars. The one stanza goes 'so now the cops got my car, and I'm sitting in this cell, next time I'll build it faster, and the cops can go to hell'. I frequently stop the song right before that line and ask if there are any cops in the house, just to be funny, and to make sure any cops no I'm just singing a song (and please don't ticket my car.)
    This particular place didn't have a real stage. I asked this question and this guy walks right up in front of my, stands about a foot from me and starts to explain that he used to be a cop in NYC, in one of the secret units. It seemed like an hour passed, but it was probably only about 20-30 seconds. I finally explained to him that it was a rhetorical question to set up the line as a punchline and he wandered off. The owner kicked him out. It was a coffee house, so I don't think he was drunk. I think he was just a little crazy.

    Steve, I love your videos and I am very much looking forward to when we can safely gather to appreciate your work in person. I just wanted to say, there was something about the way both of you were talking about this guy that I've been thinking about since I watched this last night, and I've figured it out: this is so much like how we women feel in similar situations. The guy encroaching on your space, and not listening when you tell him to stop, politely because you're worried about escalation, or retaliation. As a woman, I really *felt* this in a way I totally didn't expect to when I first started watching this video, and I wanted to say thank you. You make me laugh my ass off on the regular, and you've made me think, but this is the first time you've made me feel, and I felt it profoundly. Fantastic job to you both for your discussion and handling of the situation! Virtual germ-free high fives and hugs to you both!! Sending much love to you guys ♥️♥️

    "You could've just told him a mermaid was outside" - Steve
    hahahaha I wish you did. I'm genuinely curious and dying to know how that would go. I have a feeling the reaction would not have been what we would expect. It'd be a lot better.

    Sucks that the club owners weren't a little more savvy regarding etiquette during a comedy show. Maybe a pre-show chat with the staff is going to become a sad, but necessary chore at unfamiliar venues. You guys handled it with aplomb, and explained it well. Good luck on the rest of the tour.

    The best joke you could have used for the Coast Guard line would have been “Say the coast guard comes up and gets on his boat, they ask him his name, and then they instantly find a ton of cocaine on board, and then he gets mad at the coast guard saying “THEY came onto MY boat!!” lol. I could just see the wheels in your brain turning for an awesome joke there but you JUST missed it haha 😂 But that would have worked perfectly in my ever so humble opinion, sir. Haha 😊 I literally watch your videos every night before bed to put me in a good humour lol. Keep bein you man!!

    Hecklers interrupt because they're histrionics who love a captive audience. They can't get one of their own (for good reason) so they just hijack someone else's. It's absolutely a symptom of a mental issue.

    I'm proud, and ashamed to say that I've been both Brett an "Captain Silver Fox" in these situations. I've also been a bouncer at a place where I've escorted someone out, just to have some other ass let said person back in a couple of minutes(!!) later... I've also been a performer (pub-musician) where staff has just looked on in amusement while someone heckles me. Not so easy to diffuse when you're doing music instead of comedy. Never been a tugboat-captain, though..
