Surprised by the weaknesses in this arrangement, especially in the orchestra part- it is not very faithful to Grieg's and takes away some of the hallmarks of his language.
In what way?
Våren is such a delicate refined subtle sensitive composition, that a trumpet should stay far away from it. It is a song, so, has to be sung by a human being, the voice is the most delicate, refined, subtle, sensitive instrument, and words are part of the total art of composing: Marita Solberg: th-cam.com/video/Yq-TzXW6uCU/w-d-xo.html
It sounds beautiful with the trumpet. Tine Thing Helseth is a master trumpet player and plays this piece of music with great sensitivity, feeling, and lightness. Kudos to her! In my opinion, a trumpet can play all kinds of music.
I didn't think a trumpet would be appropriate, but her sound is really beautiful. It's done in key of F, down from key of G it was originally written.
