    Fun fact JP has done a lot of sermons on dating and he still strongly believes that the heart check should be the most important thing. He admits physical attraction does exist however he doesn’t want other Christians to tie themselves into only wanting a specific person because of their looks

      Yeah he made that point in his book. Now that I think about it, I think all five of these books drove home the point in one way or another that looks fade over time, so no matter how important they may seem now, they won't be as important in fifty years. Thus, something that's more enduring (i.e. character) should be of higher importance. I definitely agree with that point, but I also don't want to be one of those people who says physical attraction doesn't matter at all lol, because I definitely believe it (and compatibility in general) does

(Lol when you said chemistry I paused for a minute and thought of the bachelor 😅😅, praise God I’ve been convicted about that show). I’ll check out the other ones… thanks.

    Hi sir, this is kind of off topic but I wanted to know how you feel about preachers who claim that the end times are near and stuff along those lines? And also some events that have happened that these preachers claim are “signs of the end times”, such as the Euphrates river coming close to drying up (even though it’s been drying for nearly 13 years due to climate change) and the Dead Sea turning red (even though it’s just a pool near the sea, not the entire ocean and also it could very well just be Iron Oxide or Red Algae in the water)? over the past week or two I’ve had really bad anxiety because of a lot of people on the internet claiming that the end times are coming and I just wanted to hear from someone like you

    • @JosiahNordquist
      @JosiahNordquist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey!
      So I'm obviously not an authority on the topic of the end times, but I hope I can help. On one hand, I'll say that preachers and people in general have been predicting the end times since Jesus walked the earth. Although there are prophecies in the bible that some people claim predict when this time will be, a lot of it comes down to one's interpretation of Scripture, one's familiarity with Scripture as a whole, and their own personal beliefs. Matthew 24:36 says no one but God Himself knows when Jesus will return (and thus the end times will come), so I don't think you should concern yourself too much with the hearsay of doomsayers online. That's just my personal conviction.
      However, I will also mention that the bible says Jesus is coming back "soon." In this case, "soon" is relative, but it implies that we should be prepared for Jesus' return since it can come whenever. I don't say that to scare you, but I do say it as a reminder that we're not guaranteed any time on this earth, so we should maximize the time we do have by turning to Jesus and living for Him.
      I'm sorry that you've been feeling anxious about all this. I hope I was able to calm some of your fears, and my hope for you now is that if you haven't already, you put your faith in Jesus! We have nothing to fear when our hope is in Him.
      I just said a prayer for you! Please let me know if there's any other way I can help. God bless!

      @@JosiahNordquist actually I have another question, how do you feel about vaccine conspiracists who claim that the Covid-19 vaccine is the “mark of the beast” and that it’s a sin to take it? The people who make those types of claims are the same people who make claims like “so-and-so (eg Joe Biden/Obama) is the antichrist” and stuff like that, so I just wanted to hear your take on it

    • @JosiahNordquist
      @JosiahNordquist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Again, I'm not a subject matter expert on eschatology, but I don't personally believe the covid vaccine is the mark of the beast. While I don't believe everyone who claims it is has ill intentions, I do think some people use the claim to fear-monger. The same goes with calling certain people of our time the antichrist. It's true what the bible says about the antichrist being an influential figure who will rise to power, but it could be Joe Biden as much as it could have been any of the hundreds of people who were accused of being the antichrist over the past two millennia.
      I think this matter comes down to looking at the hearts of the people who are making these claims. If you think they're making the claims out of fear or as a way to strike fear in others, then I suggest you ignore them. If you think they're making them as a genuine way to remind others of what the bible says and call them to Jesus, then I think you should consider their words more heavily and measure them against your own convictions and understanding of what the bible says.
      In the end, whether or not the covid vaccine is the mark of the beast and whether or not Biden is the antichrist, I don't know. What I do know is that either way God is in control, and those who have put their faith in Jesus have nothing to fear. I'm not sure where you're at in your faith journey, but I promise there's hope and freedom from fear in Jesus' name. Praying for you!

    do you ever talk about the gospel, your "about" section says "but I also want the world to know what real Christianity is".
    what is "real Christianity" without "repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand"

    • @JosiahNordquist
      @JosiahNordquist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! The gospel didn't come up super explicitly in this video, but I've discussed it at greater lengths in other videos, so feel free to check those out!
      I agree that repentance is integral to the real Christianity (and I've said as much in other videos), but I believe more so that real Christianity is summed up by the grace of the gospel. The gospel is good news because of the good work done by Jesus on our behalf even when we didn't deserve it. This should hopefully then lead to our repentance. However, if you emphasize repentance without first recognizing the unconditional grace and love Jesus has already showed you, then you put yourself (and potentially others) at risk of believing that real Christianity is more about the work you do rather than the work that Jesus has already done. It also, in my opinion, makes Christianity more about the fear of hell than having a personal relationship with the God who created you and who loves you.
      I believe that repentance is super important, but discussion of it should come after discussion about what the gospel is and what it means. I believe as well that discussing the gospel with someone should often (but not always) come after developing a personal relationship with them first. On my channel, that sometimes means putting out a video where I don't explicitly talk about the gospel, but rather just have fun and show people that Christians are normal people too. This hopefully will attract people to my channel who aren't Christians themselves or people wouldn't have otherwise stumbled across my videos. From there, I pray that they'll watch other videos of mine where I do share the gospel, and, God willing, they'll eventually come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. That's always my goal!
      I understand you might not agree with me on everything, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts!
