The final showdown in scaramouche is the finest sword fight in hollywood history sir...although errol and basil are peerless fellows of course and it is a brilliant scene.
You beat me to it. The final fight in Scaramouche is the sword fight scene by which all others are measured. It is simply spectacular. In almost all of these cinematic fights reality has left the building and Scaramouche is no different. What it is is brilliantly choreographed, uses every inch of the scenery, and tells a story through the fight.
Kudos to both actors. Errol Flynn kept up believably with Basil Rathbone, an accomplished fencer.
One of my favorite movies. I have it on Blu-ray!
Another good one is Ty Power v Bas Rathbone in Zorro. Their fight was all done in one take.
The action is actually really good in that entire movie.
Also take a look at the Gene Kelly Three Musketeers movie as well.

Taking out the scene music by Erich Wolfgang Korngold is a sin. (SIN)
TH-cam might not have let the video go up otherwise. Give him a break.
