- What's better than an MG4? An MG4 XPower!
With dual motors and all wheel drive, this fully electric hot hatch has even more oomph, and with 429 BHP it will get you from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds - yes, it's that fast!

Great review. I feel a lot of reviews of the xpower have gone "wow what a fun drive but you're better off getting the LR or ER versions". Nobody would review a hot version of an ICE car the same way. I.e. nobody would take an RS3 for a ride and go "oh that was amazing fun but I think you should buy the 2.0 TDI". The other thing ive seen is reviews that critique the car against cars that are £££s more expensive like tesla dual motors. You're the first reviewer I've seen that's done a fair review on the basis that you don't buy the "hot" version of a vehicle range if fuel economy/range are your primary concern!
Thank you Ed, exactly and you’re dead on with EV it’s a whole ball game for some reason - it’s awesome and you’ll see it’s pretty good on range too, I’m currently editing the road trip
100% agree. There's some daft reviews out there by people who should know better.
It’s a strange stance David that’s for sure
@PlanetautoUK I think the absolute worst take I've seen is those reviewers that have decided that it isn't a hot hatch, due to some mind-bending poncery they struggle to explain themselves. It's a small hatchback with over 400 horses, which can keep in a 911'a rear mirror up to its limiter and which throws anything not strapped down into the back windscreen when launched....it literally puts the hot in hothatch with a capital H. "Oh oh oh but it scrambled a bit in the wet" oh f***k off back up your behind where your review came from 🤣
@edfinch1237 it boggles the mind, don’t forget the laggy screen, which isn’t and the ADAS it has to have to be NCAP 5.
Another really thoughtful and useful review. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it - and you’re very welcome Avid
Yesterday I had a Range Rover up my arse in the 40mph section of an A road. As soon as we got to the 70mph sector I floored it and the idiot became a distant memory. Great feeling. This is why I bought an XPower - who cares about a little extra range - I love it’s supercar abilities.
Thank you for showing us X Power has a place in the world - Enjoy Mike.
I've got the MG4 XPower in Camden Grey and love it. Economical in ECO for long trips and embarrassing ICE boy racers with its mad acceleration when you want too in SPORT
Yes it’s a force to be reckoned with yet in Eco it surprised us enjoy Baldy 😎🚀😀
We picked up ours at the end of December. Yes I agree it surprised me just how solid it is built. The front doors have a heft that is almost premiumish.. the acceleration is absolutely astounding for the price. Yet it can also be driven sensibly I don’t feel lm going to lose control. And the seats are comfortable for long journeys. For the money 4 WD 430bhp 50k performance cars. We love her..
I out accelerated an RS6 then a Urus upto the limit - it’s the bargain of the century, enjoy Dazaaw
Great review.
I really like this. Well done MG 👍😊
Thank you for the kind words, we’ve uploaded a road trip too 😀
Cheers guys
You’re very welcome ☺️
Can’t wait to order mine next week , going with the green
Oh very nice, have you test driven one yet KG?
@@PlanetautoUK yea loved it , only do 100miles a week for work so perfect for my needs
@KGplays_ the perfect car, it’ll do more range than you think too as long as your not flat to the floor everywhere, enjoy.
@@PlanetautoUK thanks man, great review
You’re very welcome have you seen our road trip in this beast?
I’m not convinced it’s not a one trick pony. I think the Long or Extended Range is probably a better bet.
We’d take this every time, drive one and come back, the AWD is a gamechanger heli 😀
@@PlanetautoUK let’s agree to disagree. I did and went for the Extended Range. But, then I’ve also got a 911 for “proper” driving. Hhmm rear motor and rear wheel drive, it appears I have a “type”.
Each to there own Heli, I’d go for AWD in an EV every time, bar the i4 - German petrol motors depends on the car we’ve a Mk2 Golf GTI 16v for FWD and C124 for RWD.
You’re absolutely right, but call me shallow, I love that Racing Green finish and will be ordering one based on that! Also for me, it’s the same price as the extended range on our scheme and as I don’t need the extra range , why not?
Exactly why not, and yes the green swings it 😀
Very excited for mine to turn up in April. In green of course!
Nice, they’re immense, enjoy and please report back your experience PR 😀
2:00 yeah? If you’re driving it down from 100% and hooning it around I reckon you’d be lucky to see 170 tops.
It's economy surprised us, @wintersun398 - there's a road trip coming which will show you this in more detail.
So tempted to swap my mg4 for the xpower 😂
That doesn't surprise us @willsbrewery3518 - told you it would pique your interest (especially you, lol)
I really want to like the mg4 but the rear end am not a fan off. Maybe I need to test drive one
Yes, do it 😀 and report back - have you seen the backend in person Freya?
Had my green monster for a few months now scares the crap out of me when I floor it lol
Green Monster love it, it’s exceedingly addictive flooring it, it’s so controlled :) thank you The Alien
@@GrrMeister I love you your amazing
No but I plan to visit local dealer this week
Enjoy, and keep us posted
Don't!
Indeed it look like something from Doctor Strange but it is not offensive.
MG did a excellent job with this X-Power.
I really like the colour.
Yes Cosmo, it works on all levels, bargain of the century for what it can do, thank you
Happy cold feet in your milk float!
Hardly and the speed it takes to get warm, toasty far quicker than our W124
I saw one on the road in front of me and the driver put his foot down without knowing I was in the Tesla Performance model. I saw him for about 2 seconds and he became a tiny dot in my rear view mirror quickly..😂
There can’t have been that much in it 1 to 1.5 second, I upset a Urus upto the limit on a dual carriageway off a roundabout and an RS6.
Course you did, borinvlogs.
"And then everyone clapped and mum made me a smashing slap up dinner" 😂😂
Road trip should be interesting as this is a pretty decent looking car ! A lot nicer on the eye than the usual suv stuff being trotted out by manufacturers! Would be even better wih a proper engine 😂😂great review planet auto 🚘 🎉
Thank you David, this is such a drivers EV and you’ll love the scenery on the road trip.
@@PlanetautoUK now that sounds a bonus 🙂👌
@davidmarshall5596 doesn’t it just, Grenadier first though 😀
@@PlanetautoUK great content 👌
@davidmarshall5596 thank you 🤩
MG was English an its Chinese today
Yes with a head office in Park Lane 😀
Ive seen a silly review by someone clearly driving in the wet ... and saying it was a dry 0-100 test.
Very much "stay in your lane" reviewing going on.
It’s amazing how people try and bring it down 🙁
To Be Honest....
Yes…
Fast, sure. Ugly? Very.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - what would be your choice, @meangreenst3?
Maybe the Cyberster would be more to your taste.
Very true CastleKnight or the upcoming 3, thank you
😂 A bogey green ST owner feeling threatened 😂😂😂
@@davidspencer7254 threatened? 😂
Ugly, cheap build, infotainment fonts are to small, does scrabble for grip under hard acceleration, no height adjustment on passenger seat, MG dealers love to try to avoid warranty claims and what’s included in the warranty steps down each year etc. The lane keep assistance is dreadful and way to sensitive and to aggressive. But yeah it’s fast.
All things we didn’t experience, the video shows in the bucketing rain a virtually perfect launch in sport, verified by numerous owners, lots of vehicles lack height adjustment on passenger seats, we found the ADAS similar to every modern car we’ve driven including the Dolphin and Sportage.
