    I was an optician for many years before I retired last year. As an optician I fitted hundreds of people with their glasses and a good number of Asian women so i'm very familiar with the problem of the bridge fitting properly like you say. There was several solutions for this issue. One way was to find a small enough framer that had a very narrow bridge size. Another way which was usually better was to find a frame with adjustable nose pads. Unfortunately, there are only a few full plastic frames with adjustable nose pads. But there are many metal frames that have the adjustable nose pads. I would suggest you look for that type of frame in the future. You seem to have a rather strong prescription which is probably why you have been getting full plastic frames because it hides the thickness of your lenses better. But they offer a good number of metal frames in a thicker frame style as well. Using the glue gun is very risky because if you get any of the hot glue on a lens it will ruin the lens. Also if the glue doesn't lay down smoothly it could make your glasses very uncomfortable to wear.

      Hi Jim, thank you so much for the comment. You are right, I have very strong prescription which led me to use frames that can hide the edge of lens better, also there are much more styles to choose from the plastic ones. I haven’t.dropped hot glue on the lens yet ( fingers are crossed haha ) but if I make a shape that I don’t like on the nose bridge, I could peel off the glue off and make a new one (I did this for a few times). I will definitely look into the metal frame with thick edges next time, hope I can find something I like 👍. Thanks again for the suggestions

      Mine is a pair of thin metal frame with adjustable nose pad. However, they broke off in less than a year. I may not be able to use hot glue because the frame is rather thin, so may not hold/hide the glue. I think I won't buy adjustable nose pad frame in future.

      @@onlinevoice195 I do agree that the the adjustable nose pads are more delicate than the molded plastic nose pads.

      @@soundmanptDo you have any recommendations on how to fix my broken adjustable nose pad on thin plastic frame?

    • @soundmanpt
      @soundmanpt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@onlinevoice195 It can be fixed, just not by you. I think most places have glasses repair shops that are really very good at fixing nearly everything on glasses frames. But depending on how much you like those glasses it may not be worth the cost. The only way to fix your glasses is by soldering it back together and you need right kind of equipment to do that. You can also check with a jewelry store because many of them are capable of doing that as well. I'm thinking that it will cost at least $25.00 to fix it. You can order glasses on line including lenses in your prescription for as little as $6.95 at Zeeni Optical, Zeelool, and Payne Glasses.

    Creative, cheap, fast, DIY with what you have at home, exactly why I'd thank you for this video. My wife is in the same situation as you and this is exactly the type of solution I come to TH-cam for. Obviously there are other more expensive, more traditional, more technically correct, and store provided solutions, if I wanted those I'd have just gone to the mall.

    Great idea. I modified your technique by purchasing adhesive nose pads. I then used the glue gun to keep building them up in layers until the frames no longer rested on my cheeks and the tops aligned with my eyebrows. I even added one extra pad on only one side so the frames are not tilted on my face.

    It's a brilliant idea! Just like to add a little suggestion, as our nose tends to gets oily at times, how about we add on a type of adhesive nose pad onto it? It should helps to prevent slip off for oily nose bridge 😂.

    Thank you so much for this inexpensive hack! I bought a pair of Versace frames (expensive) that fit my lenses. I had the lenses installed, but like you said, laid on my cheek more than i liked. My nose is small, and my prescription is pretty weighty. I purchased hot glue gun, and black glue, as my frames are black. i practiced a couple times (carefully) and after a few times, made my pads. It worked! My husband asked me what i did. My reply; " If you can't see what I did, then it worked!" Ha ha! Thank you so much! Best hack ever! Forever grateful! I've always wanted plastic frames but shied away from them, till now!

    Hi, I just ordered 3 pairs of new glasses,
    my prescription is high and there is mostly plastic frames to choose on the market nowadays.
    Just picked up the new glasses but feel it needs nose pad to sit a bit higher.
    Your video is a lifter, thanks you so much for sharing this tip to benefit others who have the same problem. I also like someone in the comment recommended to put a protective tape over the lens to avoid dropping the glue accidentally on it. Great suggestion!

    I wish I’d seen this video last week :(
    I just spent $300 on 2 pairs of sunnies at an optometrists. They didn’t have any Asian-fit, but the store person tweaked the arms a little to fit behind my ears better and hopefully hold them up. They sat nicely for the first 2 days but now fall and I find it hard to breath and SO annoying when they drop onto my nose, so yesterday I bought some stick-on nose pads, and ear grips off eBay to try. If they don’t work your glue gun idea sounds like the go!!

    Want to REALLY thank you for your guidance and tip. i spent a lot of money fir two pair of readers and the frames on bth glasses were really hurting in the back of my ears. Moreover, the glasses kept sliding down m nose whenever i worked on my computer at work. I kept taking the glasses back to the glass shop where I purchased and they made numerous adjustments. They were able to relieve the pain in the back of my neck but no matter what they dd they could not stop the glasses from sliding down my nose.
    I finally decided to purchase the Setext anti-slip nose guards but the pads need to be replaced every couple of months. As opposed to buying the replaceable pads I returned to your video that I had previously watched. Following your lead I went to my garage and got out my glue gun. And that did the trick. I was able to add to the frame plastic pad which stopped both pairs of glasses from sliding down my nose. I am now going to do this hack to all of my sunglasses.
    JUST AN AMAZING HACK!!! THANKS SO MUCH

      I am glad you like the video ! I did this maybe 3-4 times, only one time one side fell off after maybe 1 or 2 month? Another time it might fell off after 3 month. The rest times they stayed pretty well for a few months. It might have something to do with the cleanness of the glasses frame, but I am not sure. But even if it fall off, putting a new one one is also easy :-)

    Nice and creative! I always had cheap sunglasses but last year, for the first time I bought an expensive Asian fit sunglasses (Oakley's), while they do feel a little better it still touches my cheeks when I move my cheeks even a few cm. When I relax my face then it's good. Also when my nose has any oils they slip! At the moment I might give those adhesive nose pads a try.
    The hot glue is not hot enough to damage the glasses frame? Namely plastic frames?

    • @FrantasticLifestyle
      @FrantasticLifestyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think the hot glue would damage the plastic frame, I think the temperature is just hot enough to melt the soft glue stick. I would recommend you to try it on other plastic surface first before you try on the expensive frame.

    FYI! If you have the rubber mat meant for the glue gun you can actually drop the glue on to it and create your "pads" and let it dry, when you peel them off of the mat you have a flat surface to drop a bit of glue on and then stick them to the nose piece.
