- Hey guys, a little teaching video today showing you the way I got started with Hybrid Picking. This is an awesome technique that I use all over my playing, not just in country! For any of you vets out there drop a comment on how you went about learning this technique!

Congrats Tim . Have to say I really appreciate what you’re doing with your channel and the livestreams. You’re really down to earth and not pretentious at all.
I agree 💯
The dude is on a roll. Great stuff and excellent playing as always brother.
Thank you Sean, more to come!
Hey Tim thanks for the videos. You're very humble😊, and I am very appreciative of that. No need for apologies on anything you are doing. If people who are tuning in don't understand that we all make mistakes, not sure what to say about that. lol.... The way you have the videos produced, are great. The rawness is great. All good.👍
Just caught the end of your video as well definitely would like to see some more country type instructional videos. As I am programmed in '80s hard rock and roll and blues.😅
Been practicing finger style the last few years and lately been thinking about hybrid picking. This video got me to actually try it and gave me something to work on to start with, good stuff!
Thanks TA ! Appreciate ya.
Thanks for watching!
I will add that one could practice hybrid picking while watching TV or whatever. deaden the strings and only concentrate on your right hand attack. it worked for me, especially since my left hand has so much to give. thanks Tim! you're the most humble pro guitar player on here
Love that GnL, sounds great 🎉
Good stuff thank you

I enjoyed this video a lot! New sub as of yesterday. You seem like a cool, humble dude. I've been playing for a long time but I'm not at your level. Your chops speak even though you're humble about them. 🤙
Hey buddy love your Channel. First time I'm commenting, but it's IMPORTANT!....DIG THIS.....I got a set of LINDY FRALIN BLUES SPECIAL PICKUPS for my Telecaster and I'm about to install them. I'm excited, big day for me.

It's a killer guitar
This is exactly the type of hybrid picking lesson I have been searching for! Tim, your teaching style is great and you are so humble. It's great to see you reinforce that you are learning and growing as a player just like the rest of us! Thank you! Can't wait for more teaching videos!
Damn playing the ACM! Congrats dude!
Thank you!!
Hey Tim, keep it up! Love the tips. Never stop teaching, because one can never stop learning. Keep it grassy!
Great news! We’ll watch for you at the ACM’s. Maybe they will scan the band folks…
Love your channel. You are so down to earth and genuine. That, along with your talent will take you far in life. I play lots of country but I'm a strummer. I would love to learn how to do the whole pickin thing and find this very inspiring. Thank you!
PS. Congrats on the ACM Will be watching 💙
Just subscribed - I have been at trying hybrid for awhile - it clicked here on this video - more on hybrid and teaching videos. Thanks, Tim!
I really appreciate this video. I’m trying to learn hybrid picking and this makes the most sense that I’ve seen. Thanks!!
I recently happened across your channel and I'm loving it! I've recently started working on my hybrid picking, and I started out using the same methods as you explained. I am interested in more teaching videos. Keep up the great work! 🎸
Really liking your videos Tim. I also see your channel growing rapidly. Your content is informative and down to earth. Keep it up, looking forward to seeing more.
I have a PRS HDRX20 and definitely adding a reverb brings it to life, I am using a Keeley Caverns and it changed the whole vibe of the amp.
Ya man that was really cool and helpful...I like all the variety of stuff...keep it up!
Tim awesome job dude #LANCO
Good stuff brother. Favorite TH-camr. Keep it up, my man
Great stuff! Please more like this!
Great video! Can you talk a little about connecting chords/ walking into the next ones? Thanks!
Absolutely! Thank you!
Congrats on your subscribers Tim. I subscribed some weeks ago. Best of luck with your channel. You’re growing fast!
Tim quick idea. Get 2 cameras so when you teach 1 shows the strumming hand or fretting hand do we can see better. #Lanco
Great video Tim. Thanks for lesson. Your thumbnail of this video looks like you are Smok'n a joint...... ;) Cheers!
😂😂 thanks for watching!
lookin forward to the saturday gig vlog!
Bud I love your channel
You seem like a good dude.
I’ve been working on the pickup man intro for a solid week and it’s still not near as clean as what you played haha. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who struggles with it
Man it is hard!!!
Hey brother, not sure if those storms are over your neck of the woods but if so man hope your staying safe. All these storms are moving from your way right over mine. Just wanted to say stay safe.
Great job
Ever try one of those banjo-style thumbpicks? I just started doing that and I love it - leaves all of your fingers free for picking. Feels a little different than a normal pick but not too bad.
Thanks for posting man! Local Austin TX musician here. If you have any spare time while you’re in town for ACMs, I’d love to show you some of the local spots and talk guitar. Holler at me if you’re interested
Thanks man, Im Excited to be down there, dont know how packed my schedule will be but I'd love some recs!

Nice.
Someone use to make a stomp box for simulating chicken pickin but I forget which one right now.
As I recall now it was DigiTech!
Just found your channel and digging the content!
Looks like you’re using the shoulder of the pick? Do you always use it this way or only when you’re hybrid picking? Fender Medium?
Thanks!
Thank you for the comment and watching! I was waiting for someone to comment on this, haha you’re exactly right on both those things, shoulder and fender medium
@@TimAvenMusic Thanks, Tim! Keep up the great work!
Caught onto this channel last week so I don't know your back ground ; Did you go to college for music ? Thanx
