    One of my fave Moody Blues songs ever. When I was a kid in the 70's hitch hiking all over, when my Mom needed to hear from me, all she had to do was put on the Moody Blues and think of me. I'd call within 24 hours. Worked every time. True Story. The Power of Music.

    This is one of their best songs in my opinion. Pinders mellotron is unbelievably powerful. Lyrically it might be my favorite song. But I could go on about almost anything these guys have done. Favorite band hands down.

    The most under-rated rock band ever. I have been an apostle since 1971. Forget the later stuff with the pressure of writing whatever...the early stuff, like this, was stunningly original.

    • @cosmo1eleven855

      Michael... I don't think the 80's stuff was under pressure writing. It was all very well written and performed. They had just went onto a slightly different lark. Gemini Dreams, The Voice were great tunes.

    • @mustangmikep51
      @mustangmikep51 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I agree with you 100% This is the REAL Moody Blues when Mike was still with them God bless the Moodies and long live the memory of the late 60's in our collective hearts(I was THERE!) What a creative mindblowing time! Love and Light to ALL!

    • @TopazShane
      @TopazShane 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The later stuff is still better than 99% of what's being passed off as music even in the 90's. I assume you're not happy with songs like "Gemini Dreams," "The Voice," and "The Other Side of Life." If The Moody Blues didn't exist before those songs and they released those in the 90's and early 2000's, they'd still be ranked as one of the best if not THE best. But you're right, their earlier stuff is more conceptual.

    • @mustangmikep51
      @mustangmikep51 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@TopazShane The earlier stuff was MUCH better than the later stuff but that was mainly because the VIBE and creativity in the late 60's -early 70's was at it peak..(plus Mike left who was the heart and SOUL of the Moodies).after he left it all went to shit...although there were 2 or 3 songs half decent as you mentioned

    Heartfelt. Full of class and integrity. I met the Moodys in the old Detroit airport in 96. Justin Hayward was kind snd accommodating as I fumbled over my words to tell him that they were NOT just “singers in a rock and roll band”...and that the beauty and grace they had provided to the world was without equal.

    • @JaneFrieman
      @JaneFrieman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      When my daughter was eleven years old, she came down with mysterious low grade fevers and other health issues. As my husband and I prepared to take her to the hospital, I could hear my husband sobbing on the phone to his father. She stayed in the hospital for a week. During that time the inner strength I gained from listening to the Moody Blues was comforting. I wish I could find a way to send a message of thanks to Justin Hayward and the rest. After her surgery her health was regained.
      R.I.P Ray Thomas. Your voice was magnificent and now it is angelic.

    • @donaldbass6737
      @donaldbass6737 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hardly “god”...but the Moodys DID pretty much create an entire genre of rock...lets call it “trancendental” and the late 60’s and early 70’s...with all the unrest and war were their backdrop. And so they appealed to my sensibilities...right when I was coming out of HS...my first year at college...my stint in the Navy and beyond. So it might not have been like talking to a god...but for me it was “elevating”..

    I was sitting in a dorm room at Case Western when on the Threshold of a Dream came out in 1969. I was stunned...especially when I learned of their earlier albums, Days of Future Passed and in Search of the Lost Chord. My life seemed to bloom at that moment and 50 years later I'm still listening and appreciating. What a time for music and creativity and actually, hope.

    Leave the wise to write for they write worldly rhymes”
