Great review. I hope you do the comparison of in a silent way once/if you get the mofi. I'm also looking forward to part 2 of your comparisons. For these 3 albums I have already the mofi versions and I'm very happy with those, but the ones that you'll be reviewing in part 2 are the ones that would probably make me buy this boxset.

For me, Ryan K Smith and VMP have set the bar for these LP's. I did A/B the VMP to the MoFi's with VMP besting the MoFi (4). Ryan's cuts sounded more alive, big, natural and dynamic, over the 4 MoFi's. The MoFi's seemed a bit dull especially in the high range for me on my gear. My "On The Corner" Pittman 1st pressing is on par with the VMP. Also my Jack Johnson 7 1/2 ips Reel to Reel tape sounds amazing, which I havent found any vinyl LP to top it.
Gear : McIntosh MC2102 tube amp. McIntosh C2300 tube pre-amp, McIntosh MT5 turntable, Clearaudio Concerto V2 MC cart, Sonos Faber Amati G5 speakers.

This box is still climbing and I doubt it gets a repress for at least a year. I’d list it as soon as it starts trending north of $500 IMO. BTW, did a bit of a deep dive on some of your vids tonight - really enjoyed your VPI turntable overview and going to watch that tube phono stage vid next. Happy New Year.

Hmmm, I think you have my channel mistaken for another. The only thing VPI I have shown on my channel is the 16.5 record cleaner. I also have never done a video about a tube phono stage. I would love try one out one day though.
As for this box set this will likely never get a repress. I am pretty sure the contractual obligation between VMP and the Davis estate only allows for the initial pressing run they did. Also, given that it didn’t sell out immediately I don’t anticipate there will be much of a demand for a repress either.
Thanks for watching my video/s and Happy New Year to you too!

Great review! I have a similar feeling with my version of In a Silent vs. the MOFI - we might have the same pressings - mine is an early one but not a two eye. I dont own the MOFIs - but I do own an OG 2 eye of BB and my comparison was similar to In a Silent way - its very close (VMP) to the OG. I will choose the VMP simply becuase it's new - when things are that close might as well save the OG! jack Johnson I have a repress of and this VMP is way better - looking forward to part 2!

Makes total sense that the MoFi's win since they're direct from the master. The VMPs are merely mastered from copies regardless of their AAA status. Probably should've pulled a MoFi and go for that DSD secret sauce.

Your comment doesn't make any sense, since the MoFi was copied to DSD then cut. The VMP was copied to analog tape then cut. One is an Analog copy and the other is a digital copy.
