- Welcome or welcome back to Angry Roads! Friends, we've done it. We've made it to Take me Back to Eden. Things are about to get tricky as we rank some of our favourite tracks. First up, Chokehold. At 2:37, the high pitched thing, was it his voice, or some instrument? Synth?
My issue with this album, is the overall sound, of Vess' voice, the instruments. I love heavy music, but im missing some organic sound from these heavier songs. Most of eden songs sound very robotic, making it difficult for my heart to soar, listening to them. So i guess it was good that this was the album that introduced me to ST luring me in with the heaviness, so i can go back the older songs and find the EPs, singles, and Tomb 🖤
Another issue for me is what Dave mentioned, that it's difficult for me to piece together when these songs are in the story.. like if we just go through the release dates, after his failed unaliving in Tomb, after realizing that he's never ending up with the girl, she's got him in a chokehold and he's back to being desperate bringing her back home??
Agree with Sussan, he sounds happily desperate in this one. Desperate means he's got a chance, while end of Tomb was very much the end of the road-sounding, hence sad.
Listening to them again now, the saving grace of most of these Eden songs are the drums. For chokehold in particular, the drums in beneath the stormy seas verse is 🖤
Do the EPsss! Even just as bonus vids, let's not rank them, coz my heart cannot handle it anymore. Lol
As for my ranking...it sits currently at #30, pushing up Like That to #29. No breakdowns, no Vess growling, nothing much for me to look forward to in this one. 😁
That's his voice, "CHOKE HOLD" as far as I can tell?

@@angryroadsI mean, the alarm/siren sounding one which starts at the same time as he sings "chokehold". So if u ignore "chokehold", it sounds like "you got me in a, ☝️ahhhhhhh" lol.
Ohhhh I hear it. Probably a synth yeah? I like to imagine the vesselettes sing it live?

@@angryroads oh okay i always imagined it to be a layer of his voice, but yeah must be a synth. I think it's still a synth live. Only Sussan could have reached that pitch if she weren't discussing her interpretation of the song. 😉
