- The Intents Offroad GU Patrol is suffering from clutch judder and many oil leaks. This video will show you how to remove the gearbox and all parts associated with a clutch change in your driveway or on the shed floor. DISCLAIMER!: This is not a job for the mechanically challenged (like myself). Some of the methods and procedures shown in this video may not be entirely safe or ideal practice. Please take this video as an incentive NOT to try such a difficult job at home.

don't remove the clutch line,just remove the bolts from the cylinder and let it hang,--no bleeding on re-assembly

+John Maireroa thanks mate, glad it could be of use! I did drain both the gearbox and transfer case oils, but only because I was changing the seals in those two while I had them out. If you're doing a clutch and rear main seal on the engine you won't have to drain anything :)
Cheers mate..i have been planning and prepping for a while now on doing the same job to my holden rodeo 2005 3.5l v6...it does have a leaky rear main but i also want to change the seals in the transfer case and tranny aswell..if you have any tips or pointers please let me know mate...

Hey mate doing the clutch now, did you have to support the engine at all once the gearbox is removed?

just undo the to bolts for the slave cylinder and put it aside no need to undo the hardline you ar just making more work

You can do it exactly like this but when you order the new clutch and flywheel you just make sure you go for the single mass option. It's a straight bolt in replacement
Safari clutch system good option I payed few years back 700 including flywheel
you dont have to mark the p shaft,its on flanges,they didnt balance it with the gearbox did they.it doesnt matter on any shaft,the shaft is balanced,not the mounting surface,.uuuggghhh

hey mate old vid but in order of accessing the top two bell housing bolts does the engine mounts need to be loosened or will the gearbox just tilt w motor leaving them alone. cheers
Yeah there's enough flex in the engine mounts to leave them alone

@intents Offroad - I have a 2001 Nissian Patrol Wagon 3ltr Intercooled TD. And when i go to drive it, it starts moving and driving then all of a sudden it stops driving and just revs, Someone said it could be my gear box or clutch? any idea

Mate just wanna say l totally agree taking the gear box out of a patrol was an absolute pain in the massive ass but this video has saved me so much money thanks heaps

Heh i'm halfway through mine now, trying to get the gearbox out that final bit. Mine seems to have an intermediate adaptor plate that needs to come off as the clutch plates hit the bell housing. Trouble is, it seems to be bolted on with one bolt that I just can't find :/

Stating the obvious but you dont want to be hitting spanners with a hammer. If the bolt is tight and you need a longer lever hook the ring of a larger spanner onto the open end of the first spanner. Gently increase the pressure and prey you dont shear the bolt. Great movies and I'm hanging out for part 2.
