Great video, with absolute respect for the great, diverse Italian cultures/ culture, history of Italian people, I myself lived 24 years in New York city, a city that is ethnically, culturally, architecturally, mentally, characteristically, with its diverse places, locations of Manhattan, Brooklyn and other parts of this city... One of the clients, originally from Italy, hearing that my brother is Georgian, said about the Georgians: Ah, our cousins, and this is absolutely true, in the form of the Etruscans, also, in the form of the relevant historical times, of mixed ethno, ethnic, cultural ties between the ancestors of Georgians, Georgians and Romans, including the Eastern Romans (Romans-Byzantines), etc., which I also repeatedly mentioned, like a historian by profession...🇮🇹 🇬🇪 Sincerely, from the country of the Black Sea region of Europe in the Caucasus, from Georgia, Alex.
Were I live we had the Feast of the Three Saints every year. When I got older I understood how unique and awesome my Sicilian side of the family is! Con vera fide - Viva Sant'Alfio!
In all honesty it is an open ended song. The Lazy Mary part though just has nothing to do with the song. The part about the bakerboy is closer but... his canole is in the daughter's hand. Along with the fisherman, barber, carpenter and gardener and what makes the song funny and a little dirty. The English in it kind of ruins it though.
I know what I'm about to say is kind of an oxymoron but whatever. I hate that the world we live in now is viewed behind screens. There's so many people at this show but there is a large percentage of them that seem to be more focused on framing the picture or video correctly instead of enjoying the moment and the music. I understand the hypocrisy of speaking negatively about the "always recording generation" as I'm currently watching it on my phone hahaha. But when I'm at a concert, I'm at a concert. That's it. I'm not taking videos. I'm not holding my phone up. The only light that will be emanating from me is my lighter in the air at the end of the show, cuz I'm gonna be threatening to burn this motherfucker down if they don't keep playing.
Wow. Blew the song totally apart and destroyed it. There is nothing in the song about a lazy woman named Mary. But it is kind of funny though. It's a really fun song at a wedding to slap your hand against your elbow and bend your arm at your in laws. And smile big. I got the daughter. Her husband is younger than her parents so a little respect for the fisherman, barber, gardener and carpenter. We will be changing thier diapers eventually and happy to do it so wave good bye. She is going to get married and you can't stop her. That is why the song is so religious in its original version.
Proud Sicilian here!! 🇺🇸🇮🇹

Because they're Americans

It's a very old Sicilian folk song with verses that repeat and are about different professions so you can make it about anything
