You really, really need the filter, i fix these things for a living, you will never keep the water clean for more than about two weeks at most without it. The filter in the skimmer is not good enough either, if its not fully submerged it will pull air bubbles in and cause hotspots on the element, shortening its life significantly.
I wouldn't have bothered with the ozonator, they have a cell that needs to be replaced every year and they don't save their own cost in chemical use.

Thanks for the tips! I’m planning on replacing the filter housing before winter. But I’ll be sure to keep the water level above the temporary filter for now.

Love it! People get fancy about hot tubs and it’s a trick to spend money. You would love my hot tub I modified it to run on propane. It cost me only $500 bucks. Cost $1.20 to keep it running. BECAUSE I don’t get fancy with it.

Hot tubs are really the most nasty shit to be trying to save money on... Even new they're some of the most crackpot plumbing you'll ever find.

You can get a proper filter for maybe a 100 dollars.
