I absolutely love the idea of the parent using the art center to make and leave the child a love note. I am stealing that idea.

Great video! So important to emphasise the strengths of children to parents, especially those with delays & special needs. Learning doesn’t end with the school day. It is constant and parents are the best facilitators of their children’s learning outside the classroom walls. These parents may be working overtime with speech and occupational therapists to assist their children in reaching their potential & It can be very disheartening & emotionally trying at times. They need to know that their child IS capable of learning & IS making progress, even if it may be vague & happening at a slower than expected pace. Makes the world of difference to hear it & have the specifics pointed out from such a vital third party & is so encouraging to these parents.

Hi .. great ideas .... Do you know any strategies to teach babbies shapes, colors etc... ( 9 to 12 months old) Thanks for sharing!

I think with little ones (9 to 12 months) exposure is the key. Start by naming the colors and shapes for them and then place two colors (or shapes) in front of them and ask them to give you the red one (or the circle) to see if they can pick up the one you are asking for. This will give you a good indication if they understand the concept. Good Luck!
