As usual an excellent review. I bought the sound bar based on your recommendation. And you’re absolutely correct. It is fantastic. There are Bose lovers and Bose haters. I am a Bose lover. You gave very good instructions. The only problem I had was when I first plugged it in to power, I did not get that tone that you were talking about right away. It turned out I did not have the power cord all the way in to the Bose. After I got it in it’s still took about a minute. But just in time to watch Saturday night live.
I want to send you a big thumbs up 👍👍, I got mine the other day, went through the set up, good to go but sound was sounding on the flat side, however, after making some adjustments on my phone, went back and change the settings on my Xbox, and now everything is crystal clear, bass include, and above all, my video games, movie, TV, I hear everything, and I do mean everything. In my man cave, it's just a matter of sitting down with your snacks and enjoy all the sounds sitting right there in the room, I must admit it's amazingly impressed, relax and enjoy.
This sound bar sounds good. I had to do it for a patient of mine. (I’m a visiting nurse) we had to use the optic cable and it works great! Thank you for your help!
This soundbar sounds very impressive for it's size. When you add the subwoofer it just takes it to a whole level above great. This reviewer is spot on. 👌
This is a fantastic soundbar! I bought it for my RV originally but decided to put it in the house due to the app needing wifi to work. I wish Bose would have given this a better remote that didn't require the app, so I ended up installing my Bose Solo 5 in the RV instead. The sound between the two is night and day though, so I really miss it in the RV.

Great video, Steve. This speaker is awesome! But, coming from Bose, that's no surprise. They've been building cool audio for years. I have a Bose audio system in my GMC Pickup and it kicks ass! Keep up the good work.

Thanks Steve, your review has sold it to me, we have a Panasonic sound bar where there appears to be little or no clarity on voices in TV dramas, and my wife is forever re winding or asking me what was said !!! I’m a man and can’t multi task ie listen and speak at the same time, hopefully the Bose 300 will allow me to watch TV in peace. @@TechSteve Hi Steve, soundbar is great, we brought the surround speakers as well, wasn’t to sure about them at first as the sound from rear speakers was so quite, I contacted Bose and they couldn’t help with the lack of volume, I then found out by mistake how to get the full surround when I turned off the Dialogue switch to off and hey presto the surround sound is incredible. Shame Bose doesn’t show this in their instructions when buying rear speakers
I have one of these. It's fine as a basic soundbar but I couldn't recommend it as a Google Assistant device because (a) The Assistant voice is three times louder than the media volume (WHY??) and there's no independent volume control (b) playing BBC radio is unreliable and Google will often say it can't find the station, which rarely happens on other Google devices and (c) when the TV switches on, the input doesn't switch back from the external device until you do this in the app - not very "smart" in my book!

I am thinking of buying my own, still having some questions, though: 1) Since the Soundbar is connected via wifi with my homenetwork, is it able to stream internet radio, and streaming services like netflix, amazon prime and youtube? 2) My (quite old) TV doesn't have an optical input. How can I get great sound for gaming, if the HDMI input is used by the TV (would it work to connect gamingconsole with TV and TV with soundbar?) 3) Is it only possible to connect with other Bose speakers? I do have two Teufel boomster go at home. Could I connect them and use them as RearSpeakers? Thanks a lot for your help!
Hopefully a quick answer: I got this and the 500 base module for $800. I definitely prefer a soundbar setup, so that of the way, would a ATMOS soundbar from Sony, Samsung etc at the same price range be a better option? Or do you think I’d be sacrificing actual sound quality for the object-based sound?
Kind of answered my own question. I went to Best Buy and played the demos on this and Samsung / Sony with ATMOS and priced around $700 before discounts. ATMOS cannot be demonstrated in a Best Buy with a super high ceiling, but the sound quality itself was definitively better on the Bose Smart Soundbar 300. Seeing as how ATMOS won’t be working in all content, you get better sound from this Bose than its ATMOS competitors most of the time, if not at all times.

Hi Steve, this sound bar is good in my price range. I live in a room in someone else’s house so I’m not in a master bedroom. So another thing you should know is I don’t have room to place a subwoofer. So, will this soundbar be good for me by itself meaning without a subwoofer and even if it doesn’t have Dolby Atmos? I don’t use Netflix, but I have a good sized 4K UHD disc collection, some of which does have Dolby atmos in its sound codecs. I also don’t use Alexa. Never been my thing. Thank you

Great review..I am looking to buy this one. I have a 'JBL Flip 3' and the Bass produced by that is enough for me. In that case can Bise soundbar 300 is ok in Bass perspective? Mean can this produce the Bass as JBL flip 3?
I had the samsung soundbar from Costco, the one that's 500 bucks but on sale for like 350 or something, and it was ok I mean the soundbar was cool but the surround and bass speakers I didn't like. Right now I have the soundbar 300 from Bose, not this one because this one is smart 300 mine is just 300 I guess I know it's weird. But this soundbar sounds amazing really the only difference supposedly from mine and the 700 I don't have Alexa built in but it sounds awesome and might be a more affordable option for you! I am going to be getting the new 900 with dolby atmos so I'll be selling mine still has like at least a year warranty, maybe 300 I'll sell it or maybe less idk
Question about the small rear speakers to add surround sound… Are these almost like tweeters? I’m finding very little sound actually coming out of them!
So if you set up Dialog the way you like it in the app , After you power off the speaker and power it back on will it keep the settings you set ? I like dialog and Bose Solo 5 I have to keep hitting the Dialog button to get it back

Can you program a universal TV remote to control the volume when you’re using the optical port from tv? I only have 2 HDMI ports on my TV, so I’d rather not take up 1 of 2 ports for that. Still need a streaming box and a Blu-ray (yes I still use it lol) or gaming system

Hi, Does this soundbar needs to be connected to wifi constantly all the time to produce sound or is it only necessary during set up process and changing settings.
I have an edifier setup 1280 db and apple tv 4k to stream content. The Apple’s reduce noise option keep the dynamic audio intact and raise the dialogue. Earlier I was missing the dialogues but now all fine.

I'm planning to try this model. but, for example, I already set the prefer treble and bass on the music app, will Treble and Bass stays on the same settings I made even losing connection with the Bose Music App for a long time? will it keep that settings? or do I need to set it all the time? @@TechSteve unfortunately i dont have hdmi arc on my tv it's dated already. I can just probably use the spdif coax port and then just get a converter to optical. Hope it works though. My soundbar order is still in transit :)

I’m a reviewer but I don’t review everything on the market nor do I work for a company where I have a showroom full of products. I do what i can being a independent reviewer who buy most of my own products. You would have to start a TH-cam channel and start getting 100s of comments daily to truly understand how difficult this really is, I do what I can. Steve you have really helped me with my recent buys. I have bought a Samsung q60t because of your review and we love it. We bought it at Costco and also bought a Samsung budget sound bar HW-T50M . We are disappointed in the voice quality as the voice seems a bit muffled when mixed with movie sounds. What is your thoughts on Bose 300 compared to Bose 5 sound bars. I know they hit different price points but is the 300 much better than the Solo 5? ( 300 is double the price of Solo 5 here in Canada). Thanks
The Bose 300 all day every day. I’m using it as my personal audio and it’s so clear plus i like the Alexa feature, music anytime without the use of my phone or tv app. Price vs performance

I have mine at 80 bass and negative 70 on treble for movies. For music, i prefer negative 10 or 20 on treble with same bass. I currently do not have a bass module.

I have Sony TV which are about 6-7 years old with 4 HDMI port, but on none of HDMI port wrote HDMI ARC, what shall I do. I have tried to all HDMI port connection, but no sound.

Notice you have compared the Bose TV Speaker with the old Solo 5, but not versus the 300. Have a Bose TV speaker in living room (as well as 500 Bass Module) wondering if worth upgrading TV Speaker to 300. Think worth it?
One thing interesting about presenting an audio track to listeners is that the track is only as good as the listener's setup. Same with visual demos. :)

Great video! Thank for that. I have an issue though with my soundbar... I can’t get the tv sound to the soundbar via hdmi arc… only the optical works. I use Netflix and my Tv model is the LG UK6100… any help would be appreciated…thank you!
I read somewhere optical is the only way this bar will support Dolby digital. I also read in general optical won’t play Dolby and it will switch it to a 2.1 system even if you have a 3.1 system. Also I’m not sure to use bitstream or psm

Hi Steve, this sound bar is good in my price range. I live in a room in someone else’s house so I’m not in a master bedroom. So another thing you should know is I don’t have room to place a subwoofer. So, will this soundbar be good for me by itself meaning without a subwoofer and even if it doesn’t have Dolby Atmos? I don’t use Netflix, but I have a good sized 4K UHD disc collection, some of which does have Dolby atmos in its sound codecs. I also don’t use Alexa. Never been my thing. Thank you

I had the samsung soundbar from Costco, the one that's 500 bucks but on sale for like 350 or something, and it was ok I mean the soundbar was cool but the surround and bass speakers I didn't like. Right now I have the soundbar 300 from Bose, not this one because this one is smart 300 mine is just 300 I guess I know it's weird. But this soundbar sounds amazing really the only difference supposedly from mine and the 700 I don't have Alexa built in but it sounds awesome and might be a more affordable option for you! I am going to be getting the new 900 with dolby atmos so I'll be selling mine still has like at least a year warranty, maybe 300 I'll sell it or maybe less idk

Can you program a universal TV remote to control the volume when you’re using the optical port from tv? I only have 2 HDMI ports on my TV, so I’d rather not take up 1 of 2 ports for that. Still need a streaming box and a Blu-ray (yes I still use it lol) or gaming system

I have an edifier setup 1280 db and apple tv 4k to stream content. The Apple’s reduce noise option keep the dynamic audio intact and raise the dialogue. Earlier I was missing the dialogues but now all fine.

@@TechSteve unfortunately i dont have hdmi arc on my tv it's dated already. I can just probably use the spdif coax port and then just get a converter to optical. Hope it works though. My soundbar order is still in transit :)

I do what i can being a independent reviewer who buy most of my own products. Steve you have really helped me with my recent buys. I have bought a Samsung q60t because of your review and we love it. We bought it at Costco and also bought a Samsung budget sound bar HW-T50M
. We are disappointed in the voice quality as the voice seems a bit muffled when mixed with movie sounds. What is your thoughts on Bose 300 compared to Bose 5 sound bars. I know they hit different price points but is the 300 much better than the Solo 5? ( 300 is double the price of Solo 5 here in Canada). Thanks
The Bose 300 all day every day. I’m using it as my personal audio and it’s so clear plus i like the Alexa feature, music anytime without the use of my phone or tv app. Price vs performance

I have mine at 80 bass and negative 70 on treble for movies. For music, i prefer negative 10 or 20 on treble with same bass. I currently do not have a bass module.

Notice you have compared the Bose TV Speaker with the old Solo 5, but not versus the 300. Have a Bose TV speaker in living room (as well as 500 Bass Module) wondering if worth upgrading TV Speaker to 300. Think worth it?
I would keep what you have, using the app to change levels is a deal breaker

One thing interesting about presenting an audio track to listeners is that the track is only as good as the listener's setup. Same with visual demos. :)

I read somewhere optical is the only way this bar will support Dolby digital. I also read in general optical won’t play Dolby and it will switch it to a 2.1 system even if you have a 3.1 system. Also I’m not sure to use bitstream or psm
What HDMI cable do you recommend I use? I have the same Bose sound bar connected to my tv with HDMI but it is causing my tv to turn on by itself and not sure if there is any cable or setting that I can use or change?
