The first tag shows Sturm Geschutz Platoon/Element. Battalion I believe. The second tag shows NCHR (Signal?) WERF (Rocket launcher) ERS (Replacement) ABT (Platoon/Element).

I've held a few Lugers but never fired one. Maybe someday I'll get the chance to try it out.

They are A sweet firing weapon but A bit odd feeling when the last round ejects..Goes from heavy to feeling light when the rear "ears" lock. A friend of mine over 40 years ago allowed me to fire his that his Grandfather brought home as A souvenir.

The German should not have wrapped his dog tag so well. The fit and finish of a Luger is so tight it may fire or blowup after being buried so long. I have a dug P38 would never consider trying to fire it. Great work guys ☀️☀️

It´s a normal thing, dear, to put the dogtag in a pocket, hanging around the neck! So it doesn´t make any noise in the battle! And I agree with you, it is very useful for health to check the status of a weapen any time before any further actions! Never fire a weapon with corroded bore!

Czechs and Poles did their best to help the Nazis kill Russians. When I was little, I often found the remains of Czechs. Adults always said that it was the Hiwi that their Hitler forced to help the Wehrmacht; they had no choice. But only when I found the remains of Czechs and Poles, it was always not clear to me why, if these were Hiwi, they died with weapons in their hands and in full ammunition of the Wehrmacht?
