    I got a 2014 Captiva & is really a great car for me & wife.
    Very economical & good engine.
    Haven't got any problems with it,except the a/c & Chevy fix it under warranty.
    I bought it I 2014 with 8k miles.
    I will be keeping this Chevy until it falls apart! Right now it has 45k miles!
    Great vehicle..and looks like new!

      Get rid of it before 70,000 miles. Thats when they start consuming a quart of oil every 1000 miles. A quart every 1000 miles is acceptable oil consumption by GM. But extended warranty will not cover this car because it uses oil. Owning a Captiva became a nightmare. Sell the car immediately is my suggestion.

    Just bought one with 99,300 miles and I absolutely love it, the design is nice and the interior is very suitable and very comfortable to me......then again, I have never driven newer fancier cars. I always have owned cheaper and older cars, so the captiva is perfect to me.
    I also enjoy that it's rare around my area and I can say that I basically own a saturn. I drive all highway 90% of the time and love the fuel mileage. The carfax showed normal maintenance and it was very well taken care of and never beaten on or raced.

      Sell it immediately. It is going to start using more oil than you can afford. If you keep it check the oil every time you fill up with gas.

    I have a 2012 Captiva Sport LTZ. V6, AWD, leather? Purchased it as a vehicle that serves its purpose like a toaster oven. I use it, abuse it, rarely clean it, and paid a fraction of the cost of comparables. People smash carts into it at Costco...and I couldn't bother to care in the slightest. All the sudden iv put 35k miles on it, and its been a surprisingly good small SUV. I torture it here in Colorado, expecting it to explode and yet it just doesn't. Captiva👍 like a kitchen appliance but an SUV.

    There are lots of reasons to turn the traction control off. One is when it is icy and you're trying to get out of your driveway and there is a hump of ice or snow, or trying to get up a slight incline when it is slick, as soon as traction control detects slip it stops the wheel, so you can't spin enough to get momentum to get over obstacles like that. Sometimes you actually want your wheels to spin a little bit rather than just completely stop turning which can leave you stranded in ice snow or mud.

    "I don't know who in their right mind would turn off traction control" It depends on how good the traction control system is. Until I got my Camry, every single car I owned with TC drove worse in the snow with it on than with it off. My 2015 Camry is the first car I've owned where I actually leave it on most of the time. It's that good.

    My favorite weird car that I almost bought was the 2008-2010 Saturn Vue Redline with the 3.6 v6 and the 4 or 5 speed auto transmission. Since they are harder to find now I could just get a good running Captiva v6 and add the Redline bumpers to the car. Then again it has its charms just the way it is.

    It could be very well a foreign market thing. My 1994 Deville has the same warning but that is because in the early 90s and in the 80s there were lots of accidents involving little kids that would get a hold of their parents cars and put it into drive and get into very bad accidents. And of course a lot of people that were buying 90s cars were coming from older cars that didn’t have such interlock systems.
    Volkswagen has a similar thing.

    I guess GM knew how bad it was, so they decided not to sell it to the public. It was so bad that many people call it the "Craptiva". If you're buying a compact crossover, you're better off getting a Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V.

    From owning a Pontiac with the back floor panel locks I can tell you that if it isn't locked it will rattle, especially as you go over bumps, it can sound like someone is slamming something in the back of your car.

    Omg. I agree, didnt do research...i am literally depressed.
    This is horrible
    Ok, this is long. Bought 2013 chevy captiva last summer. Within a month, it over heated and the ac stopped when that happened. Found out my model was made with the wrong bolts so ...spilled oil. We were doing one oil change a month, and still adding oil...drivinf on day the captiva just died, while driving. Got a tow to mels garage in watertown, wi. Paid for a re manufactured enegine. Just got the car back about a month ago
    ALSO, just put a brand new battery in this past November before the enegine replacement. A week ago parked and work, came out..wouldn't start...all i hear is a tik tik tik. All lights, music etc still worked. It sat for two days, tried starting it started. Drove for a week, parked. Died again. Tried bumping the starter , it wouldnt turn over just a tik.... it start another 5 days...it started and fine again...then died
    Please annnny suggestions???!!
    We were thinking wiring? We have a warranty w the re manufactured enegine.
    Anythinf would help. Thanks 👌

    I have to honestly say I’ll NEVER buy another Chevy product in my life. I have a 2013 model CRAPtiva as I like to call it. It’s given me so many problems over the years it’s just been one issue after another. Started having rough idle problems before 100k miles. Had a mechanic work on it and it still has a rough idle at times. My cousin used to have an Equinox and had the same problems!
    My front wheel bearings went out at around 125k miles. Now the rear main seal leaks and it burns oil. If you want reliability, stay far away from anything made by GM! My next vehicle will either be a Toyota or Hyundai.

    It's so weird, the Holden Captivas used to be everywhere but I can't remember the last time I saw one! Holden dealers were notoriously shocking at handling the many, many, MANY defects and issues with them and after the 2013 announcement that the Holden plant was closing in 2017 they well and truly threw in the towel. The Captiva destroyed the reputation of Holden for a lot of people, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's one of the reasons that caused GM to kill the brand entirely.

    • @holden945
      @holden945 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% The "Craptiva" was a very good reason why we lost Holden. Terrible reliability from Daewoo engineering. Holden dealers couldn't care less about fixing issues, because they genuinely didn't know how to fix these shit heaps.
      Similar story with the Cruze too. At least with the Cruze, Aussie built models were better.

    • @mromatic17
      @mromatic17 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zackc.8015 if your toyota is only running at 90 id check to see if your thermostat is missing or stuck open cuz if you don't have it somewhat hot then it can damage it cuz theres not enough expansion and give in the metal. thats why I said most vehicles start to get hot in the 220 range. I had a 2004 Grand Prix gtp that would run in the 240 range all the time. I drove it for 30k plus miles like that. I sold it cuz I was afraid the cheap plastic intake manifold was leaking coolant somewhere and it would eventually blow a head gasket or head. the 3.8 is one of their better engines too.
