Jack Russells are a FANTASTIC family dog. I've owned the breed for the past 17 years and they're gorgeous dogs, very high energy, very comical, very affectionate, generally healthy and adorable. I'm so grateful for my doggies and love them with all my heart, but you must have patience and stick to training, they are so stubborn! They're fiercely loyal, so treat them well and they will treat you a thousand times better. Exercise is key for a happy Jack Russell, so you must be willing to put a lot of time in if you take on this breed.
I'm lucky enough to be a groomer... We all bring our dogs to work everyday and all our clients run loose in the shop so there's much socializing and interaction amongst our dogs! Love it! SO therapeutic! And yes if someone needs to be put up we have comfortable kennels also!! Water always available. .. Love my job and our boss is the best! I've been there 34 years!😘❤️😉🙋🌟
We lived on a farm and I had one for three years and I really loved that dog. One night I took him out to do his business and when I called for him to come back he didn't come. I didn't get too alarmed but the next day we saw there was a hole in the fence and he went through there I've searched months for him but never found him
@@bernadine6695 so sorry you lost your dog. We never had problems with our dogs running away...Had 15 jrt and all have been walking free on the farm. The only preditor we have on this island are a couple of eagles. (no foxes, bears, wolfs or anything like that)
Fantastic! Loved our Jack Russell Terrier we had for 15 years. Everything you said and more. Loving and so much fun but will do everything to train you! Another great video Zeke! Congratulations! 😁
Forward_Ever &_Ever I worked for a vet many years ago and we had a very elderly client (94) and he had a Pomeranian named Timmy... Timmy passed away at 23!!! True story! Poms can live a long time!!!❤️
Where I live these kinds of dogs are really common, and most people here live in apartments. I think active breeds can do great in an apartment as long as their owners are not lazy, or working all the time. It really bugs me when every breed that isn't a lap dog is said to need a house and a back yard. Surely an energetic dog needs bigger adventures than zooming around your house and yard.
Good information, love my JRT, we walk 2 hours a day, agility training at home. She loves to hunt in the the garden. You also need a big garden. With a fence.
Great video! I had a wonderful 17 years with a JRT, what an amazing companion! Please before you get one understand they are not a "small dog". My female JRT was very well behaved but she was also trained. Never barked unless there was REAL trouble. Tough as nails and smart as all get out, one of the best dog breeds in my opinion.
I have a Parson Russel Terrier. They need some attention! They are closely related to the Jack Russel, cousins if you will. They have body size differences.
Getting a puppy in 3weeks. We are so excited. Itll be my daughters first dog & ny 3rd. Ive have two rednose pitbulls before & am excited to getting a JRT. Cant wait🙅
Out of all dogs the one Parsons we had was the fastest and gameness dog I've ever witnessed. I got him at 8 yrs and he took very little effort to train, truly a mind of his own, he wanted to show me something new every week. Infact he trained me all about dogs. He could read hand signals from well over 50 yards and ran so fast it was hard to keep your eyes on him. I was his man for 3 years, this Russell was the best a dog could be to his master. Regardless of what you might think they are very intimidating attack dogs. They hit hard and accurate, in and out allover.
You should make a video on how to teach the dog to turn ON and OFF the protection watch command(watch on the decoy). There are many videos on how to turn it on but not many on how to turn it off, I mean, the decoy being able to pet again the dog and not be at risk after being seen as a threat.
they can trace their origin to the now extinct English white terrier. strain of terriers from which are also descended the Wire Fox Terrier and the Smooth Fox Terrier. Though it is not known which dogs he crossbred, it is believed that Bull Terriers and Beagles were among the breeds used.
@@vikingdogmanship That is interesting. Thank you. Bull Terriers as well possibly. I was not expecting that. Recently I had read something about someone saying that Bulldog types could have been used to help Terriers at their jobs but could not picture that. When I saw this video and looked at the Jack Russells, some of them started looking similar to a Bull breed, almost like a smaller game bred Pit Bull or a Bull Terrier with a shorter, more standard snout.
@@Delightful_Addition True. They are pretty dogs. I think the same about the patterdale terrier if you have seen them. The short haired ones look very simular to the old type game pits too. Terriers should and tend to have good structure since its a working type. They are definitly a proud and fearless dog, keep on going and going like Duracell😄
I’d like to see more dobermans, maybe not the hardcore working lines, but ones that will do well with a family but still h have that protective instinct.
I'd LOVE THAT as well! I have an American Dobbie rescue. I would love to see more about them as family dogs. My dog is fearful and skiddish. Not at all aggressive. Just lacks socialization and confidence. We're working on those issues.
Don't even try to have these near small animals like rabbits. They WILL figure out how to get inside a rabbit hutch or any other kind of small rodent enclosure. Tenacious is an understatement if they've got a target in mind.
Quite boisterous indeed. I saw one jump of the back of a pick-up truck and run after a Kudu (a large gazelle found in Southern Africa). I wonder what he though he could do with the buck if there we're any chance of him catching up to it?
Its being a while since a documentary was made on all about living without other dog breeds(I really love it since its talks about how the dogs behave around the house and family and will want to see documentries on Bully Kutta, Gull Dong and the Serbian Defense Dog hopefully).. Thanks 🤝😊
Pitbulls may be bigger but a Good JRT, jagdterrier or a few other terriers have more drive then a pit! Pits are only part terriers, it is in the name you know
I’m in Los Angeles California and I am interested in a J.R.T for me and my family mail broken.. If anyone knows any breeders in the area please get back thank you
We just got a clean boy from a lady in sun city. Hes 4.5 months old. Google wendover terriers. They have solid bloodlines bro👌. My boy is a lil beast & people already are giving me their info so i can breed him with their jrt in about a year.
Can any Americans tell me if Jacks Russell’s are popular in America? It’s only because I work for a American company and work in the States 2/3 times a year & ive never seen a Jack Russell whilst over there. Just curious if anyone could let me know?
There's always jack Russell in shelters, I don't think enough people research them before purchasing maybe? Every animal rescue I've been to, the majority are jack Russell's and lurchers. Perhaps people don't realise how energetic they are?
Hey man new subscriber here loving your videos!! Binge watched almost all of them 😄 Whenever your workload/personal commitments permit.. Can you please please make a video on Chow-Chows as well !! 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thanks in advance, Have a good day!
I have a great blood line jack with a nice round head like a parson. Soo handsome.. But im in u.s. he is 4.5months. & i cant wait to start taking him hunting
Unfortunately there is overbreeding and bad breeding JR too. I see more and more JR terriers that do not have the right proportions.the JR on your video do have a very well proportioned body. I see more and more JRs that tend to look like dachshunds in proportions. Short legs more elongated muzzle etc. No working ability just unhealthy lap dogs.
Ugh, I HATE Jack Russels. You try to bring one into the pack and they immediately ordain themselves as alpha, even though they have nothing but attitude to back up their posturing. Then when a fight inevitably erupts you have to rescue them before they get torn apart. Gimme an even tempered Rottweiler any day.
We dont have that problem with our dogs. Actually their awsome. Go along well with all the other dog breeds that comes by for board and train, And they get along fine with all our animals at the farm. Have no issues meeting or respecting new dogs. I dont blame you thoe, There are a couple of breeds i would never consider getting either. Rotties are awsome thoe❤ And JRT's

Six of my neighbors own jack russels. They escape from time to time and come say hi
I seen one of these kill a large possum. These dogs are savages when they want to be.
I have a Parson Russel Terrier.
They need some attention! They are closely related to the Jack Russel, cousins if you will. They have body size differences.
I think one of the differences between a jack and a parson normally is that the parson knows that he is 🤣small.
@@johnbarron986 the jack is shorter. Parson is taller.
I have a 4.5 month old parson & jack mix he is soo handsome
Long live the Jack Rusell Terrier!!
Great overview of the breed.

I went to pick up a Greyhound that I fostered. When I entered the property, 13 Greys and 1 JRT came out to greet me. Guess who was boss?
I love my 2 JRTs

Does anyone know what breeds helped to create the Jack Russel Terrier?
